zacariasHi. Is there any ready-to-install version (like a live cd or dvd) of Ubuntustudio with another DE? Like Gnome-Shell or elementary, or KDE, or...00:04
zacariasI mean Ubuntustudio 14.0400:04
zacariasIs there any ready-to-install version (like a live cd or dvd) of Ubuntustudio 14.04with another DE? Like Gnome-Shell or elementary, or KDE, or..00:09
OvenWerkszacarias: No, nothing live at this time. It is certainly possible to install the ubuntustudio metas on top of these other DEs though. This machine has sStudio installed on top of Kubuntu for example00:40
OvenWerkszacarias: The first thing is to make sure you have the DE of choice working as you like. Install the metas you want (ubuntustudio-installer can help)00:42
OvenWerksThere are two more steps, Make sure the user is in the audio group and make sure that /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf does not have a .disabled on the end of it.00:44
OvenWerksThis will not change your desktop backgrounds or anything like that, just add the Studio applications for whichever workflow you install.00:46

ChaosColorhi there12:40
ChaosColorI'm thinking about using ubuntu studio for video editing12:41
ChaosColorthe computer that holds all the video data is ony running winows for now and I'd prefer to not dual boot it12:42
ChaosColorso I was wondering whether there were some instructions on how to persist configuration settings on usb live media12:46
ChaosColoror possibly ways of installing it to a usb disk12:46
ChaosColorthe latter would probably make it easier to customize the install and add software12:47
ObrienDaveunetbootin has a very easy persistence slider in the installer window. i would suggest a 16 to 32GB USB stick for Studio install12:56
ObrienDaveif you're going to install all of studio. you might be able to use an 8GB if you're only going to install the video portion12:58
ObrienDave16GB would be better12:59
