[10:01] Having some initial problems with a new Mythbuntu frontend only install: 1. spdif out is muted, so I get no audio. un-muting it using alsamixer and all is fine, but after a restart it is muted again?? [10:03] 2. After idle'ing for a while the screen goes black, even if I have turned of screen blanking. Moving mouse or using keyboard does not bring it back, but restarting lightdm does. [10:03] Any suggestions? [10:08] disable the screen saver [10:08] and make sure all the energy stuff for screen blanking is disabled [10:13] Shadow__X: I have disabled the settings for powersaving in the GUI, but previously I have had better luck editing Xorg.conf manually, might give it a try. [10:14] i am not sure whats going on with audio [10:14] did you go into the mythtv audio settings and configure things there as well? [10:17] Google told me I was not the only one having muted spdif:http://spartanideas.msu.edu/2014/08/14/mythbuntu-the-upgrade-from-hell/ [10:17] jarle: Please watch your language. [10:17] :) [10:17] hmm i have been using mythbuntu since 8.04 [10:18] and have actually upgraded in place since then [10:18] Shadow__X: I get sound in mythfrontend as long is the output is not muted by alsa, so I don't think there is much I can configure in mythfrontend. [10:19] jarle: it says to disable auto mute mode [10:20] I've been using regular ubuntu for this fronted before, but decided to try mythbuntu this time. [10:22] Shadow__X: I don't think I have Auto-Mute Mode in my alsamixer. [10:23] did you run asla mixer in terminal? [10:23] Shadow__X: yes, and the option is not there. [10:24] jarle: so the person in the link you posted shows how to fix it [10:24] This URL displays how it would have looked if it WAS there: http://superuser.com/questions/431079/how-to-disable-auto-mute-mode [10:25] Shadow__X: I see had problems getting his settings to survive a reboot, but I' [10:25] ll give it a try.. [10:25] problem 4.5 [10:30] Shadow__X: I'll try a reebot of the frontend and see where I'm at :) [10:30] ok [10:30] but it seems like the person did fix their problem by changing options within the frontend [10:33] Shadow__X: yes, I'll try changing the sound card if my spdif still comes up muted :) [10:38] Shadow__X: Using ALSA:iec958 as driver in myth, instead of ALSA:hw, got me passed the muting problem. Thanks for pointing me in that direction :) [10:38] yup no problem [10:38] glad its working [10:47] jarle: Screen blanking. I added xserver-command=X -s 0 -dpms in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
