genii-tempCan't seem to find anywhere on 15.04 to save session so that I can choose "load manually saved session" as an option.00:36
genii-tempBut otherwise, kudos, looks and feels great so far.00:37

MirvScottK: I committed some fixes as unreleased that will be needed with 5.4.0. found by testing 5.4.0 beta, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/QtTesting05:28

Riddellovidiu-florin: so far only two of us at fosdem according to the wiki page https://community.kde.org/Promo/Events/FOSDEM/201509:59
Riddellalthough I know lots more are going09:59
* shadeslayer is unsure at the moment09:59
_Groo_good morning10:09
_Groo_Riddell: could you takea look at kscreen and plasma-workspace (plasmashell), which are broken in kubuntu-ci because of kscreen change of ABI?10:09
_Groo_Riddell: big sentence :P10:09
_Groo_Riddell: cant use kf5 because i dont have plasmashell ^.^10:09
_Groo_Riddell: plasmashell (plasma-workspace) build but it fails to run because of symbols clash with kscreen: plasmashell: symbol lookup error: plasmashell: undefined symbol: _ZN7KScreen6Config11outputAddedEPNS_6OutputE10:21
Tm_TRiddell: would it help if I could come to Fosdem too?10:45
ScottKMirv: isn't that for 15.10?12:17
MirvScottK: I'm not saying 5.4 is clearly for 15.04, but wasn't Kubuntu anyway happy if 5.4 would arrive earlier rather than later? I'm trying to get people to do conditional fixes (if QT_VERSION < 5.4 etc) so that it'd be possible to test how Qt 5.4 looks. currently unity8 still doesn't run but hopefully soon.12:49
ScottKMirv: We want the Qt5 version that Plasma5 upstream supports their platform on.  For 15.04, that'll be 5.3.latest.12:50
Mirvthere's time for feature freeze, but it also depends on how rapidly vivid is wanted to be used for OTA updates, which is I guess still up in the air. my latest knowledge is that 5.4 is ok.12:50
ScottKRiddell can correct me if I'm wrong on that.12:50
MirvScottK: ah, interesting, that changes the picture. I certainly have not heard of pressure to get 5.4 in yet.12:50
MirvScottK: I remember Riddell saying everybody talking about 5.4 nowadays.12:51
ScottKThen 5.4 slipped.12:51
ScottKGotta go.12:51
sitterI don't think this is entirely settled upstream.12:51
Mirvthen if it's 5.3.x for 15.04, I'll use the possibility to make preparations but plan more like 5.4.2 for May/15.1012:52
sitterhowever AFAIK most upstream devs use 5.4, so from a testing perspective getting 5.4 in would be good12:52
Mirvsitter: there's "ugly packaging" beta at a PPA mentioned at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/QtTesting - including frameworkintegration and plasma-framework rebuilds, although the latter would need symbol changes12:53
Mirvalso, there's a tag qt5.4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/+bugs?field.tag=qt5.412:53
MirvI do like the idea of using .2/.3 releases instead of trying to go full speed to .0, but keep me posted. I think other canonical folks also like .2/.3 if they ever plan to get completely rid of the ubuntu-rtm and use latest ubuntu.12:57
Mirvtsdgeos: ^ note the discussion12:59
BluesKajHiyas all13:13
tsdgeosMirv: ScottK: Riddell: imho going with Qt 5.3.2 for 15.04 is a bit "low", there will be probably a 5.4.1 or .2 already by then13:49
kfunkRiddell: did you investigate the xembed systray icon issue?13:50
kfunkor am *I* doing sth wrong?13:51
sitterwhat be the issue?13:54
kfunksitter: pidgin's tray icon not showing up in Plasma 513:54
kfunk(kubuntu-next-ppa, 14.10)13:54
sitterkfunk: is sni-qt installed?13:54
kfunkyes13:54
sitterbug then? :P13:54
kfunksitter: but pidgin is GTK -- does it matter?13:54
sitterthat is true13:54
sitterbug all the same, I think for gtk the sni stuff is actually patched in13:55
sitterunless canonical removed it13:55
kfunksitter: I think Riddell already (somewhat) confirmed that it's also broken for him.13:55
kfunkbbl, 1 hour13:56
sitterkfunk: why are you using pidgin anyway, what if the ktp people find out? ^^13:57
sitterkfunk: it would appear to me that pidgin is not supposed to have a tray14:00
soeesitter: but the same issue is with skype 14:02
sitterterribly unlikely14:02
sitter   string "type='signal',sender='org.freedesktop.DBus',interface='org.freedesktop.DBus',member='NameOwnerChanged',path='/org/freedesktop/DBus',arg0='com.canonical.indicator.messages'"14:05
sitterkfunk: random guess would be that it registers a message indicator only for which plasma has no backing at all14:06
_Groo_kscreen new package is putting the kcm_kscreen.so and kded_kscreen.so libs in the wrong place, they should be in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins and they are installed in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plugins/14:35
_Groo_this in kubuntu-ci14:35
_Groo_please fix :)14:35
_Groo_this will fix the missing lib in systemsettings14:35
_Groo_just tested it14:35

Sick_RimmitHi Folks15:25
Sick_RimmitI have been granted permission to run Kubuntu as my production desktop, on the metal, rather than through a VM15:26
Sick_RimmitAm thinking of using Plasma 5 Tech preview for this.15:26
yofel\o/15:26
Sick_RimmitMachine is a 64bit i5, but I've had probs with 64 bit in the past15:27
Sick_RimmitI'm happy to have a few glitches, but I can't have it break in a massive way...15:27
Sick_Rimmitany adviosries ?15:27
Sick_RimmitMy plan...15:28
mamarleyWhat problems did you have with 64bit?15:28
Sick_Rimmit64bit Plasma 5 Tech Preview15:28
Sick_RimmitI had 64bit runing on a Mac Pro, and I had issues with Multimedia, Video production in Kdenlive, and some audio problems15:28
Sick_RimmitEspecially crashing when rendering15:29
Sick_RimmitAnyway I sold the Mac Pro, because Crapple upset me, and I hate them15:29
mamarleyI would definitely recommend at least trying 64bit again.15:30
mamarleyI can't say anything about Plasma 5 though because I haven't tried it yet.15:31
* yofel runs kubuntu 14.10 64bit on his work notebook15:31
yofelkde4 that is15:31
Sick_RimmitOK, this is good, no one else is yelling DON't USE IT IN PRODUCTION at me, so that will do15:31
yofelI can't say anything about plasma5 really...15:32
Sick_RimmitI understand that Plasma 5 may give me some trouble, but I'm willing to put up with that, so long as we keep the updates coming through15:33
Sick_RimmitOK.. well I'm happy to try this out.15:37
Sick_RimmitInfact I'm excited to try this out. Going to be fun seeing how Video production works out on Plasma 5 :-)15:40
shadeslayersitter: why haven't we sent the proposal to the TB yet?16:52
sittershadeslayer: I was under the impression that jr was going to do it17:05
kfunksitter: note that I have the same issue for Qt4/Qt5-based apps that use QSystemTrayIcon17:15
kfunksitter: does pidgin work for you? does the tray icon show up?17:15
ovidiu-florinwhere's Riddell? I've been trying to get in contact with him for the past 2 days17:16
