pstolowskiMirv, sil2100 jibel I understand your concern. currently discussing how important it is08:41
jibelpstolowski, okay, if it was critical there would be no discussion ;) let us know what the status is ASAP. If it has to be in the image, we'll have to test it this morning.08:42

rvrcwayne: sil2100: What's the difference between custom.es and proposed?13:26
sil2100Normally I would say let's land silo 11, but 10 has a critical in it13:26
cwaynervr: same rootfs, just different custom tarball13:26
rvrcwayne: sil2100: I just flashed 181 and I don't see the thumbnail problem13:26
cwaynethe difference between the custom tar's is *very* small13:26
cwaynervr: it sounds like an intermittent issue then, nothing on the custom tar should affect that13:27
rvrcwayne: On the custom image the issue is consistent. Flash -> Camera -> No thumbnail.13:29
rvrcwayne: I am not blaming anyone, just trying to know what's going on.13:29
cwaynervr: oh i know13:30
cwaynei just really can't fathom anything in custom causing it, especially since the only thing that *could* (photos-local) hasn't changed13:30
rvrcwayne: It's not a problem with the scope, gallery and photo roll don't show up the thumbnail either13:31
cwaynervr: yeah, so that points even more to not custom, it just seems odd that it'd show up consistently there then13:31
cwaynervr: im flashing now to investigate13:31
sil2100rvr: so, regarding silo 10, besides the questions we have it's all ok, right?13:40

Mirvsil2100: plus the history at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oxide-qt/+bug/1400275 . so no, the latest try did not fix the problem.13:45
ubot5Launchpad bug 1400275 in oxide-qt (Ubuntu Vivid) "Fix oxide-qt codecs dependencies (continued)" [Critical,Fix released]13:45
Mirvsil2100: so we can choose from a) SDK broken (bzoltan not happy), b) autopkgtests broken (a lot of people not happy), c) oxide extra codecs package installed on desktop (chriscoulson not happy), but we still don't know of the option d) fix everything. which of a-c would be preferred?13:46
Mirvwe are currently again at b)13:46
Mirvif we revert the last landing, we can go back to c13:47
Mirvif we revert to the start situation, we get to a13:47
bzoltan_Mirv: I would not break the SDK few days prior the Chinese classes :)13:49
Mirvbzoltan_: yes I wouldn't break SDK. the only thing that speaks for it is that fixing SDK caused the original regression.13:50
Mirvsadly for Oxide people I feel c) is still the smallest problem, at least during development series13:50
sil2100hmmm13:51
bzoltan_Mirv: strictly speaking it was not the SDK what needed the fix, but the Oxide packaging .. in order to make it multiarch  installable13:51
Mirvbzoltan_: I know, I know. so yes, fixing Oxide caused the regression.13:52
Mirvand at the end the real problem might be apt...13:52

bfillerrvr, jibel : what's up regarding silo 10? you have some questions?14:21
sil2100bfiller: yeah, we're asking Tiago now14:21

bfillerjibel: ack14:26
sil2100Is it good to publish then?14:27
bfillersil2100, Mirv: looks like the gallery silo was released and rtm is up-to-date. I was going to build a click from the rtm trunk and push to store.  Wasn't sure how to handle the version numbers14:27
sil2100bfiller: ok, so another problem we had... we cannot get gallery uploaded ;/14:27
bfillersil2100: ha14:28
bfillerjust asking about that14:28
sil2100bfiller: there were 2 problems we saw with the upload:14:28
sil21001) The framework was outdated and revisions wrong14:28
sil21002) Even after Mirv fixed those up, it seems gallery-app regressed when using the correct framework ;/14:28
sil2100jibel has more details14:28
bfillersil2100: hmn, we didn't change the framework, should match what's existing in the store14:29
jibelbfiller, with the new framework, the gallery app crashes when the QML cache is empty14:29
sil2100bfiller: Mirv built a click from here https://code.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/gallery-app/rtm-14.09-new and it seemed to have issues14:29
sil2100bfiller: there was an announement that the -dev frameworks no longer work for new uploads14:29
sil2100On the ML14:29
bfillerjibel: why do we need to update the framework14:29
bfillershould use whatever was in rtm14:30
jibelMirv, ^14:30
bfillersil2100: that is the wrong branch14:30
jibelbfiller, I think because -dev frameworks are deprecated14:30
sil2100bfiller: it's a branch that Mirv prepared so that the versioning is ok14:30
jibelbut Mirv would know the details14:30
sil2100bfiller: it has the exact changes from your -rtm branch but the revisions are correct, as otherwise we wouldn't be able to release as the store has version 1101 and the rtm branch generated version 109something14:31
bfillerjibel: let me check on the framework. I'd be in favor of not changing what was currently in rtm14:31
bfillerthat is a big change that these bug fixes don't address14:31
bfillercan handle that one after14:31
sil2100bfiller: I'm not knowledgable about clicks, but I know dholbach rejected it14:32
sil2100Not sure if you can put new things in the store with the old framework at all now14:32
bfillerhmn14:32
bfillerok14:32
bfillerlet me check it14:32
sil2100Mirv would know the details as it was he who wanted to upload (I have no permissions there)14:32
sil2100Anyway, we had to do 2 things to get it to a publishable state:14:33
sil21001) Mirv rebased your rtm changes to get the click version generated to be higher than the one in the store (as it seems the RTM version was outdated in comparison to what was in the store version-wise)14:33
=== salem_ is now known as _salem
sil21002) Changed the framework14:34
bfillersil2100: ok, Mirv are we sure your branch has the exact same stuf as lp:gallery-app/rtm-14.09 branch and just the framework change?14:35
sil2100And since the diff between your rtm branch and the rtm-new branch from Mirv is *only* the framework change, it still seems it regressed and crashes14:35
bfillersil2100: got it, let me investigate the crash14:35
sil2100bfiller: yes, I even tested it as per Mirv's recommendation - if you take both branches, remove the .bzr dir and do diff -urN between them, you only get this framework change14:36
sil2100So it's the only diff14:36
sil2100jibel has more info ;)14:36
sil2100Too bad Mirv is not here right now14:36
bfillersil2100: how did Mirv build the click? I usually use http://s-jenkins.ubuntu-ci:8080/view/click/job/gallery-app-click/14:36

bfillersil2100: ok, I"m going to try rebuilding it using http://s-jenkins.ubuntu-ci:8080/view/click/job/gallery-app-click/ as that is what I was told is the proper link to build clicks for the store, maybe there will be some difference14:38

bfillersil2100, jibel: what's the status of silo 11 and 16? I know davmor2 tested silo 11 yesterday. I think they both need to be rebuilt after silo 10 lands14:50
bfillersergiusens, fginther: trying to build a click to upload to the store. Is there a difference between using http://s-jenkins.ubuntu-ci:8080/view/click/job/gallery-app-click/ and http://s-jenkins.ubuntu-ci:8080/job/gallery-app-click-from-branch/ in terms of build env and frameworks, etc?14:51
Mirvbfiller: ok. it looked like the environemnt would be the same between the two, but probably the other one would be useful to remove if not needed14:52
Mirvsil2100: did you have opinion on what to do about that oxide? the current b) option means ~nothing migrates to vivid-release14:52
bfillerMirv: yeah not sure,  just asking. I always use the gallery-app-click link14:52
sil2100Mirv: how much chrisccoulson would be sad if we choose c) ?14:53
Mirvsil2100: judging from the bug filed he'd be Critically sad :) but I don't know the size of the problem of having the oxide extra codecs on the desktop for a while14:54
fgintherbfiller, the only difference is that gallery-app-click-from-branch sets BZR_SOURCE=$target_branch14:54
fgintherbfiller, in the other job it's undefined14:55
Mirvsil2100: other than that the reason for making those two packages was to not have it on desktop14:55
sil2100The worst thing is that we don't have a real fix for that - but that seems like the best workaround we can have14:55
sil2100IMO14:55

jibelsil2100, no, I haven't try the new build yet15:07
sil2100Ok, phew, so there's still hope15:07
jibelbfiller, when happens there is an apparmor denial on ~/.cache/QML/Apps/15:10
jibel+it15:10
bfillerjibel: that is working fine for me15:10
sil2100jibel: it might have been due to the click package build env being different15:10
jibelbfiller, with the build above or Mirv's build?15:10
bfillerjibel: with my build15:10
sil2100Build above I suppose15:10
bfillerjibel: on the latest image 18215:10
jibelbfiller, good, I'm trying it now15:10
bfillerlet me keep trying15:11
bfillerseems Photos scope is gone15:11
bfilleronly My Photos15:11
bfillernm found it15:11
cwaynebfiller: dont scare me like that :)15:12
bfillercwayne: can't deal with Photos and My Phots15:12
bfillershould just have one :)15:12
cwaynewell, ones an aggregator though15:13
cwaynebut yeah its unnecessarily confusing15:13
jibelbfiller, opening the gallery app from the scope works fine, but then it crashes when I switch between photos15:14
chrisccoulsonsil2100, if you choose c), you need to talk to the legal team15:14
bfillerjibel: switching between photos on the gallery app or in the scope?15:14
chrisccoulsonI'm pretty sure that shipping H264 on the default desktop ISO would restrict how the image could be distributed and used15:14
jibelbfiller, in the gallery app15:14
sil2100chrisccoulson: ok, that's bad then, nvm this solution ;)15:15
jibelbfiller, tap a photo, then move to next photo with a right swipe15:15
jibelbfiller, let me try 1101 again with this test15:15
jibelbfiller, there is this error in the log, not sure it's related: gallery-app: /build/buildd/thumbnailer-1.3+15.04.20141106~rtm/src/imagescaler.cpp:101: bool ImageScaler::scale(const string&, const string&, ThumbnailSize, const string&, const string&) const: Assertion `ifilename[0] == '/'' failed.15:16
bfillerjibel: ok, just tried it a bunch of times and not crashing for me. That error is interesting. A new thumbnailer has just been released last night could be an issue with that or a mismatch. try again wiht build 182 and the click I sent. seems to be ok for me15:18
jibelbfiller, yeah, I retrying this case with 1101, the crashes when the apps opens and this one could be different15:18
Mirvchrisccoulson: sil2100: ok, I adjusted the new silo 007 description as "Do not land", and explaining the options. so currently we're stuck at not much being able to land to vivid at all, as long as there is no solution to the installation of packages in autopkgtest:s.15:20
bzoltan_Mirv:  sorry to bug about this, but is there a way to push that UITK out? regardless of anything I do not think that this UITK release has anything to do with the real problem15:20
sil2100grrr15:20
Mirvbzoltan_: currently no-one has an offering that would make it possible :(15:20
Mirvwe've three options and all of them are bad15:20
bzoltan_Mirv:  I see15:20
sil2100;_;15:20
Mirvbut of course what we really need is that fourth option...15:21
bzoltan_Mirv: break the SDK --- land stuff --- unbreak the sdk :)15:21
Mirvthat would be possible although as crazy as any of these. or override autopkgtests...15:22
Mirvchrisccoulson: do you have any new ideas regarding solving the problem?15:23
bzoltan_Mirv: That one I would particularly enjoy15:23
sil2100jibel: so, how's the situation looking on 1101?15:24
* sil2100 itches for a new image15:24
bzoltan_Mirv:  I am not an expert (read: I am an ignorant idiot) but did the autopkgtests actually captured any real problem in the last years?15:24
chrisccoulsona 4th option is: 1) Introduce a virtual codec package by having the existing packages Provide it, 2) Move the files in each existing package to non-conflicting locations, 3) Remove the Conflicts, 4) Register libffmpegsumo.so with the alternatives system15:24
jibelsil2100, no crash, but cannot reproduce the crash on 1113 anymore, give me 5 more minutes15:25
sil2100jibel: ok, great news then15:26
chrisccoulsonThe desktop image would need to seed the desired (free) package then15:26
jibelsil2100, there is already a crash in /var/crash that might explain why the system doesn't hang15:26
bfillersil2100: this isnt' the final, final image right? we still need silo 11 landed which fixes a crit15:26
sil2100bfiller: this fix won't make it in time sadly15:26
bfillerI'm rebuilding it now as silo 10 just landed15:26
sil2100bfiller: we're already late with getting the image built, sadly not all crits will be in ;/15:27
bfillersil2100: it's only wednesday :)15:27
bfillersil2100: QA tested that one yesterday15:27
bfillernot sure why it wasn't signed off15:27
sil2100bfiller: yes, and next week are holidays, we need to have a safety net to make sure by Friday we have something promotable15:27
sil2100bfiller: oh, it was?15:28
bfillersil2100: davmor2 tested it15:28
sil2100jibel: ^? Do you know anything about it? Not sure what's the process, maybe after the rebuild we'd still make it in? Or not?15:28
jibelsil2100, davmor2 said at 22:10 "Developer added another fix which solved the issue for me however I didn't really have enough time to do a complete run on it."15:31
sil2100I'm a bit worried about the time though...15:31
jibelsil2100, and for the product team "if a fix puts the promotion at risk then we'll continue w/o fix"15:31
jibelfrom15:31
sil2100Right, olli's comment15:32
sil2100Just thought it was fully tested yesterday15:32
alex-abreusil2100, can you retrigger the publish of silo 8, pls?15:33
jibelsil2100, bfiller I cannot reproduce the crash when switching between photos. the assertion is still displayed in the logs. So it might be something that already existed in previous build.15:35
jibelsil2100, bfiller the crash when the gallery is launched from the scope is gone.15:35
jibelsil2100, I think you can publish the gallery app and build an image15:37
bfillerjibel, sil2100: I will upload to the store now15:37
jibelbfiller, thanks15:38
sil2100bfiller: thanks! You have someone to approve it? :)15:38
sil2100I think dholbach should be still around15:39
dobeycihelp: where can i see the commands run for the autopilot tests being run for the MPs on my branches?15:41
bfillersil2100, jibel : uploaded 2.9.1.1113 to the store, needs someone to approve15:42
=== _salem is now known as salem_
sil2100bfiller: approved! Thanks :)15:44
bfillersil2100: awesome15:44
bfillerMirv: what's the best way to make your branch the new lp:gallery-app/rtm-14 branch?15:45
sil2100hmmm15:46
plarsdobey: in the jenkins job, you should be able to see most of that from the console log15:46
Mirvbfiller: I'd guess push --overwrite15:46
dobeyplars: i don't have any active MPs at the moment and trying to look at the link from the last MP that landed in trunk, i get a 404.15:47
sil2100Mirv: hmm, you have a minute still?15:47
sil2100Mirv: do you know what happened with silo 12 ubuntu-rtm?15:47
bfillerMirv: ok, we're going to need to do the same thing for camera-app and lp:camera-app/rtm-14.09 to get the versioning correct. Maybe you can send me an email about how you went about doing that for gallery so I can do the same for camera?15:47
plarsdobey: do you have the link?15:47
Mirvsil2100: I don't feel very focused anymore othwerwise yes :)15:47
sil2100Mirv: since I see qtubuntu-camera is in no known spacetime, and the rtm archive has a revert in it15:47
sil2100Mirv: so, I'm wondering, is the archive in a coherent state now?15:48
dobeyplars: https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job/autopilot-testrunner-otto-vivid/168/console15:48
plarsdobey: yeah, it looks like those jobs only go back to the beginning of the month, even on the jenkins behind the vpn that it mirrors15:50
Mirvsil2100: wow, no. the train is waiting for 1202, and what was released was 1208 that was really 1204..15:50
sil2100I'm confused15:50
sil2100;)15:50
Mirvsil2100: me too. robru would probably know.15:51
sil2100Mirv: hm, but the silo PPA has actually 0.3.3+15.04.20141208.is.0.3.3+15.04.20141204~rtm-0ubuntu115:51
plarsdobey: I was hoping maybe it was still on that one, but it's not.  It may be easiest for you to just run the new one and watch it, but if there's a specific question about how it runs, I may be able to help. Basically it's just calling phablet-click-test-setup after provisioning with the image, and using phablet-test-run for the tests - nothing magic15:51
sil2100So it seems it's all as planned?15:51
sil2100It seems to have been uploaded by rsalveti, so he would know what's up15:51
* rsalveti looks15:51
rsalvetisil2100: oh, that is not a revert of what it was before15:51
rsalvetithis is just a revert of the initial change I had on that ppa15:52
sil2100Ah uh ok15:52
rsalvetias it had more than we should land15:52
dobeyplars: it's running those tests on actual hardware, or in qemu?15:52
rsalvetibecause of the cherry-pick mess15:52
Mirvand then probably build watch_only was missing so train was waiting for wrong package?15:52
sil2100rsalveti: ok, so just a quick question: is what is in the PPA (and the archive now) what we want?15:52
rsalvetisil2100: yes :-)15:52
plarsdobey: oh wait, this is the otto one... no that's different, sorry15:52
sil2100Phew, thanks ;)15:52
rsalvetiI think this got published yesterday15:52
* sil2100 leaves rsalveti alone now so he can finally rest15:53
rsalvetifrom the changes file it looks like to be included in 18115:53
rsalvetiflashing that now to check before going completely away :-)15:53
sil2100jibel, Mirv, brendand: let's kick a new image now - everyone agreeing?15:53
plarsdobey: that one is happening in an lxc container15:53

sil2100Pretty please with cherries on top ;)!16:01
jibelbfiller, I understand the importance of this fix but we don't have time at the moment.16:01
sil2100rsalveti: excellent, thanks for checking16:01

cjwatsondbarth: I mean, libtool the executable on the $PATH ...17:15
cjwatsondbarth: right, I see your autogen.sh now.  You shouldn't be using the libtool executable - basically all packages attempting to use it are buggy because they should generally use the one generated by configure instead.  /usr/bin/libtool is now in libtool-bin, but please don't use that; in this case you can just change "libtool --version" to "libtoolize --version" in your autogen.sh, since that's what you use further down anyway.17:19

robrusil2100: Mirv: re silo rtm 12, I'm not sure what's going on there. v1208.is.1204 is the version from the silo that was published. I have no idea why check-publication-migration is looking for 1202, indeed that doesn't exist.17:49
robrusil2100: Mirv: that is to say, as far as I can tell, the version in the packagelist when I clicked published is the same version that got to the archive. so the archive looks fine in that respect.17:50
robrusil2100: Mirv: oh I see what happened. v0.3.3+15.04.20141202~rtm-0ubuntu1 is what the silo built, but v0.3.3+15.04.20141208.is.0.3.3+15.04.20141204~rtm-0ubuntu1 was a manual upload that got published instead. I guess either whoever uploaded that forgot to do a WATCH_ONLY build, or there's a regression in WATCH_ONLY builds. Anyway I can manually poke the silo18:02
robruin this case but I should probably investigate further.18:02

ogra_sil2100, not sure who that was but i see a "crontab /srv/cdimage.ubuntu.com/etc/crontab" in the cdimage user history ... that means some old crotab from the bzr tree was used to replace the existing live crontab ... thats pretty bad :/18:19
dobeyE: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.18:22
sil2100Ugh?18:22
dobeycihelp: ^^ well i suppose that is a bit of an impediment to running autopilot tests18:22
dobeyhttps://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job/autopilot-testrunner-otto-vivid/285/consoleFull18:22
sil2100;_;18:22
Ursinhaplars: do you know what's that about? ^^^18:24
plarsUrsinha: I'm looking at it now18:24
Ursinhaplars: thanks!18:25
Ursinhadobey: ^18:25
dobeythanks18:25
sil2100ogra_: so, what can we do to get an image?18:25
sil2100ogra_: since we NEED this image to be imported18:26
ogra_sil2100, to get *an* image i could manuallyrun import-image but there was some TMPDIR magic needed that i cant recall ... which means if i would just enable import-images, the machine wopuld start to die again by filling up /tmp18:27
plarsdobey: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9552902/ seems to be the relevant bit18:27
ogra_sil2100, which would mean latest tomorrow there wouldnt be any image builds at all anymore18:27
sil2100ogra_: for now we only want this one image18:28
plarsdobey: something messed up in libuuid or ureadahead perhaps? cjwatson, do you have any ideas?18:28
Ursinhaogra_: what machine is that? I mean, who maintains/has access to that?18:28
sil2100I guess we can wait with the importer being disabled in overall18:28
ogra_Ursinha, the cdimage team ... and IS18:28
sil2100jibel: ^18:28
ogra_sil2100, but snappy cant i guess18:28
plarsseems to be happening during the dist-upgrade of the lxc container18:28
Ursinhaogra_: got it18:29
dobeyplars: yeah, looks like perhaps a bug in ureadahead18:29
plarsdobey: so the good news is that it doesn't look like it's your fault, and will likely resolve itself once that's corrected. The bad news is that I don't see much we can do about it until that happens18:30
dobeyplars: right. i guess this will block landing of things that have autopilot tests being run in jenkins though, no?18:31
plarsdobey: likely yes, not just yours. I'm asking around to see if anyone knows a way it can be worked around just in case though18:33
plarsdobey: might have a workaround, give me a bit18:37
ogra_sil2100, i got import-images running now, but someone needs to talk to stgraber to re-establish the system-image block at the bottom of the file, there were a bunch of variables set etc (MAILTO ... TMPDIR ... ) that i cant remember how they were supposed to be set up and snappy will definitely need the 5min import runs18:39
* sil2100 sighs18:42
sil2100ogra_: thanks!18:42
ogra_np ... i nearly had a full workday today anyway :P18:42
plarsdobey: is there an easy way for you to kick it off again?18:46
plarsdobey: I *think* it should work now18:46

iahmadsil2100, ogra_ while flashing 183, my krillin stuck at bq logo19:21
sil2100iahmad: oh?19:21
sil2100ToyKeeper: you have the same problem?19:21
* sil2100 checks19:22
ToyKeeperNo, mine flashed fine on the first try.19:23
ToyKeeper... which doesn't mean it'll always work; just that it *can* work.  Sample size of one.19:25
ogra_OTA worked fine here19:26
robruLaney: oh, glad you figured out your spreadsheet issue. for future reference, what happened there was that you opened the assignment dialogue, closed it, and opened it again. this means that the spreadsheet row had a request id and thought you were trying to reconfigure an existing request rather than assign a new one. if it happens again you don't have to19:28
robrustart a new row, you can just close the assignment dialog, delete the value from column M, and then open the assign dialog again and it'll work.19:28
plarsdobey: seems to be working now I think20:12
dobeyplars: yeah, seems autopilot ran this time :)20:14
sil2100iahmad: still having problems..?20:19
iahmadsil2100, 2nd attempt made it through20:20

jibelsil2100, sanity tests passed on krillin21:02
sil2100jibel: phew... at least that21:06
sil2100Since I was worried that the system-image issues we've been encountering actually broke the image21:07
ogra_sil2100, i re-added as much of the importer stuff to the crontab as i could, but that wont fix any other cdimage entries that had been changed in the production one, i guess an email is in order so flavour teams and release team know that their images might be gone from it in case they were manually changed in production21:17
ogra_(i also added a giant warning at the top of the crontab to never do what was done ... hopefully that prevents us from this happening again )21:18
* ogra_ is off and back to vacation again ... images should work (for us at least) 21:19
sil2100I wonder who did that21:30
sil2100ToyKeeper: are you doing sanity testing as well?21:43

ToyKeepersil2100: Sanity for krillin is done (pass), emulator and mako are in progress.21:47
ToyKeepersil2100: I think a more direct answer is "yes".21:49
sil2100ToyKeeper: who is also doing testing on the image right now besides you?22:10
ToyKeepersil2100: I think om26er and iahmad are both testing now.22:11
sil2100Regression testing already? :)22:11
ToyKeeperYes.22:11
sil2100Excellent, thank you everyone!22:11
om26erI am not doing regression testing. I am near past EOD :)22:12
ToyKeeperOh, okay.22:12

sil2100ToyKeeper: so just ping me (or PM me just in case) if there are regressions22:58
