Unit193Second.00:00
Unit193Have a test build, I think.00:02
Unit193THe normal menu when you right click on the desktop, applications menu...00:04
knomeyep00:04
brainwashso, the xfdesktop solution would require this http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/kiosk_mode00:09
brainwashwhat about ubuntu studio and so on? everyone would need to make the same changes, right?00:11
OvenWerksbrainwash: from what I have gleened from the above, Studio would only have to add something to fix the bug. I am not sure being able to access the menu is all bad though...01:36
OvenWerksI need to set this machine up so I can do dev work on it. The other one is/has lost it's drive.01:37
OvenWerksHowever, If you would point to the merge/update you do to correct this on xubuntu, I will do Studio.01:39
ochosigood day everyone12:17
andrzejrhi ochosi12:17
ochosihey, how's it going?12:17
andrzejralright, how is the panel? any new bugs/fixes?12:18
andrzejrwas thinking about releasing it12:18
elfyhi ochosi 12:19
ochosiandrzejr: i think it's good. i would've wanted to fix the shading bug, but i was away over the holidays, so i haven't touched anything since you posted the bt12:21
andrzejrochosi, I've recently spotted 2 issues, not sure if with xubuntu 14.10 or xfce12:22
andrzejr1) Alt-F4 without focused window logs me out of my session12:23
andrzejr2) xfce compiled from scratch does not integrate with lightdm, had to install at least xfce4-session and dependencies from the repository. Any downstream patches?12:24
ochosinot sure but 1) also happens here and i can't really say if it isn't by design12:27
ochosisince you might have session-saving enabled you might actually want 1) to work as it does12:27
ochosiand i'm not sure about 2), but it might be related to the prefix you compiled session with12:28
ochosihaven't tried myself though12:28
Unit193Only the xflock and http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/vivid/xfce4-session/vivid/view/head:/debian/patches/xubuntu_ignore-gdm-lang.patch patches for session.12:28
ochosiandrzejr: ^12:37
Unit193ochosi: Also, xfwm doesn't tile funky in vivid, just utopic.12:53
* Unit193 shrugs.12:53
ochosiyou mean corner-tiling doesn't work in vivid?12:53
Unit193No, when opening windows.12:54
ochosiwhat are you referring to exactly? (haven't touched my laptop in about two weeks)12:56
Unit193elfy: How long do upgrades last on the tracker?13:02
Unit193Seems they get cleared faster than last cycle.13:03
elfyUnit193: I thought that they should renew daily - but doesn't appear to 13:43
ochosi\o/ new panel release14:37
ochosithanks for the release andrzejr 14:37
ochosibbl16:03
Unit193https://launchpad.net/~unit193/+archive/ubuntu/xfce/+packages?field.name_filter=xfce4-panel full coverage, and for vivid: https://launchpad.net/~unit193/+archive/ubuntu/staging/+sourcepub/4647131/+listing-archive-extra - https://sigma.unit193.net/source/xfce4-panel_4.11.2-0ubuntu1.dsc18:11
ochosii guess that's for bluesabre ^19:00
NoskcajUnit193, Are you packaging any of todays releases or should i?19:45
brainwashjjfrv8: re brightness issue after logout, can you maybe test a recent version of the intel gpu driver (xorg edgers ppa or similar)?19:54
brainwashjjfrv8: I'm not sure if you want to mess with your system, but I guess the intel maintainer will ask the same think19:55
Noskcajandrzejr, Does thunar's appdata and polkit stuff need any new deps?20:21
andrzejrNoskcaj, no idea20:23
Noskcajok20:24
ochosiNoskcaj: at least appdata shouldn't pull in anything new21:50
NoskcajIt seemed to run fine on xubuntu anyway, and there wasn't anything in the git commit, so i've got a merge up with no dep changes21:55
NoskcajDid we want gtk2 or gtk3 for xfce4-taskmanager?21:55
ochosii'd stick with gtk2, there are no downsides to that21:56
ochosiwe can switch to gtk3 as soon as taskman is gtk3-only21:56
ochosiwhich will happen with the next release21:56
Noskcajok21:57
brainwashandrzejr: can you review the patch for https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10652 ? not sure about the additional icon tweaks, but the main bug should be fixed at least21:57
ubottubugzilla.xfce.org bug 10652 in desktop ""Open with 'default app'" in right click context menu with wrong icon" [Normal,New]21:57
brainwashI think we should try to reduce the ubuntu delta and apply fixes upstream21:59
andrzejrbrainwash, there are some changes to new tab/window in the patch. Are they relevant to this bug?22:04
andrzejrditto for "create-folder"22:07
brainwashandrzejr: no22:09
brainwash"visual enhancements"22:09
andrzejrI just noticed the last comment in bugzilla22:09
brainwashoh :D22:10
andrzejr"Patch does not have a valid e-mail address."22:12
andrzejr(after: git am < patch)22:12
brainwashandrzejr: it's not the mailbox patch format22:25
andrzejrpushed22:29
andrzejrany other downstream patches worth applying?22:31
andrzejrI mentioned earlier today that manually compiled xfce4-session et al does not integrate with lightdm22:32
brainwashthanks22:32
brainwashI'm not sure, we got rid of the xfwm4 patches some time ago (now applied upstream)22:33
brainwashdid you install to /usr/local ?22:34
andrzejrnope, /usr22:35
andrzejr./autogen.sh --enable-debug=minimum --enable-maintainer-mode --host=x86_64-linux-gnu --build=x86_64-linux-gnu --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu --libexecdir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu22:35
brainwashhttp://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-session/tree/configure.ac.in#n13522:37
brainwashdid you search for session desktop file?22:37
brainwashmaybe it's not installed properly, so lightdm cannot pick it up22:38
ochosiit's supposed to be installed in /usr/share/xsessions/xfce.desktop afaik22:40
brainwashregarding thunar downstream patches: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/vivid/thunar/vivid/files/head:/debian/patches/22:42
andrzejrxsession prefix is /usr, what does the xubuntu version use?22:42
andrzejrseems like some of these patches are in 1.6.422:43
ochosiyup22:44
ochosiand should be /usr22:44
brainwashandrzejr: yes, lets wait until 1.6.4 is packaged, then we can look at which patches are remaining22:47
Unit193http://www.quickmeme.com/img/28/28f7f40a346a59ff11b731f814662fc9cb2baa0cf1e932275f9bb746bc2bde65.jpg22:48
ochosi:]22:49
andrzejrre: xfce4-session, there may be something else.22:55
andrzejrI remember that starting startxfce4 manually (from xterm) was failing, I could start xfce4-session but then I was running into some permission problems22:56
andrzejrLocation of .desktop files looks correct22:58
ochosiUnit193: wanna take a look why xfpm build failed in the staging ppa?22:59
Unit193Oh, that was 4 days ago.  Thought you meant a new one.23:00
brainwashandrzejr: the answer should be hidden somewhere here http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/vivid/xfce4-session/vivid/files/head:/debian/23:02
brainwashjust to make sure, are you able to start the Xfce session via lightdm and it fails, or is the menu entry for Xfce still missing?23:07
andrzejrI can select either xfce or xubuntu session but after starting it I get afair empty screen. I could then start xterm from a console and run xfce4-session (but not startxfce4), which kind of worked except for things like audio permissions etc.23:19
brainwashandrzejr: sounds strange, startxfce4 is a shell script, so it could be debugged easily I think23:34
brainwashI'll compile and install xfce4-session tomorrow and report back23:37
brainwashmaybe I encounter the same problem23:38
andrzejrbrainwash, I don't have enough experience with it to spot the problem but will try to debug it again next weekend (unless you find the solution earlier)23:39
andrzejrfyi, I was comppiling the whole xfce4 stack after uninstalling all xfce packages. The problem went away when I reinstalled xfce4-session + deps.23:40
brainwashok, it's not a common task to compile xfce4 from source and install it in ubuntu23:42
brainwashmaybe there is some tweaking needed to make it work23:43
brainwashcompile the whole thing from git I mean23:44
Unit193Well, you won't get the user session at least...23:47
=== brainwash_ is now known as brainwash
