BluesKaj'Morning folks11:20
t1mpwhere can I download a vivid binary image to install?12:47
t1mpokay, nevermind. It helps to read the topic :)12:48

imnicholAnyone having an issue installing the cgmanager update?15:48
BluesKajimnichol, upgrading as we speak and all is well15:51
imnicholBluesKaj, intersting.  I'm getting the following error:15:52
imnicholdpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/libvirt-bin_1.2.8-0ubuntu19_amd64.deb (--unpack):15:52
imnichol subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 215:52
imnichol/usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d: 580: /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d: Syntax error: "fi" unexpected (expecting "then")15:52
BluesKajimnichol, are you running ubuntu on a vm ?15:55
imnicholNo, bare metal15:55
BluesKajok , try sudo apt-get -f install15:56
imnicholAlready did15:58
imnicholSame error15:58
imnicholDo you have virt-manager installed on your system?15:59
imnicholBecause these are the only two out of maybe 10 packages that are having this problem15:59
BluesKajno virt manager here ...were you using a vm previously?16:00
imnicholI use VMs16:01
BluesKajI have in the past, but decided to dual-boot , fewer problems and I don't use windows much anyway so it's less troublesome16:02

BluesKajimnichol, I guess removing/purging virt manager ,, then trying the upgrade again would be the next step, but I reckon you already did that16:19
imnicholHahah BluesKaj ubuntu-desktop depends on cgmanager16:22
imnicholI'm not entirely sure I want to play that particular game of roulette16:22
imnicholAt least, not at 10AM on a Wednesday16:23
BluesKajcgmanager and virt manager have the same dependencies ? that's  not good :/16:23
imnicholNo they don't16:26
imnichollibvirt doesn't depend on a lot of the stuff that cgmanager does16:27
imnicholLike, for example, indicator-datetime16:27
BluesKajso what does the terminal give if you just remove virt-manager ?16:28
imnicholThe following extra packages will be installed:  cgmanager libvirt-bin16:29
imnicholI think it's trying to resolve the breakage before it uninstalls16:29
BluesKajyup, looks that way16:29
BluesKajrunning any ppas?16:30
imnicholNope16:30
imnicholOh wait, yes16:30
imnicholCore apps ppa16:30
BluesKajnever used that one16:32
BluesKajI don't run unity/gnome, I'm a kde guy and cgmanager installed yesterday during an upgrade without any fuss on my laptop with kubuntu 15.0416:33
imnicholI actually like the web browser16:33
BluesKajwhich bowser?16:37
BluesKajon ubuntu-touch/mobile/tablet ?16:38
imnicholyeah16:40
BluesKajwell, that's a different kettle of fish , try #ubuntu-touch16:42
Troy^what gui do you guys use?18:36
BluesKajKDE here.altho some use unity or gnome18:44
pete_kuI just downloaded the Vivid alpha desktop ISO but can't find the login credentials anyplace online.  Does anybody have the creds or, better yet, a URL to the page where they are documented?  Thanks  I tried username ubuntu and no password, it's not accepting those creds.21:25
bubbasaurespete_ku, check the sum of that download there is no login, unless you logout.21:35

ubottuTo verify your Ubuntu ISO image (or other files for which an MD5 checksum is provided), see http://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM or http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO/Checking_the_md5sum_in_Windows21:36

bubbasaurespete_ku, So exactly what happens, on booting a live dvd/usb you should need no password or user, preface any answers with my nick so I know you've answered.23:26
bubbasaurespete_ku, Just fired up that vm myself had to download the 32 bit I get a login to, that is not normal, I would just try dailies till it works if it were me.23:36
pete_ku<bubbasaures> OK thanks.  This is my first test of vivid so I didn't know that the appearance of the login screen was a bug.  Is there a web page with details of what's supposed to be there?  Thanks23:46
