seb128is there any know issue with the recent kernel updates in vivid and I5 graphics? since a week or so I my latitude e6410 show only a blank screen after plytmouth, no lightdm greeter, things work fine if I boot an old kernel12:40
apwseb128, doesn't sound familiar no ...13:01
apwseb128, i assume this is with v3.18 that it fails, and ok with v3.16 ?13:01
seb128apw, correct, assuming 3.18 started ~ a week ago13:02
seb128I don't have a previous 3.18 in my grub list, but yeah 3.16 works fine13:02
apwseb128, there is a v3.19 in the CKT ppa you might want to try as well13:20
seb128apw, is that the most useful thing to try?13:34
apwseb128, well if it is working i can forget about it as that will be at least the version for vivid13:34
apwseb128, though as always a bug would be nice, if you could let us know the number here13:36
seb128ok, I'm going to do that and open the bug with the details on whether 3.19 resolves it13:37
seb128apw, https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa is the ppa right?13:38
apwseb128, sounds good, yes, thats the right PPA, there is a -1.1 without associated -signed and -meta, and a -2.2 building right now13:38
seb128ok13:38
seb128apw, thanks13:39
apwseb128, thanks, we shall wait your tests with interest13:39
seb128apw, didn't try the ppa yet, but the issue seems similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1408593 which apparently is fixed/working in 3.1915:37

apwseb128, so i think they also say it might be fixed in 3.18.2 which is also being built in -proposed15:39
seb128apw, cool, I'm going to try that one as well15:40
apwseb128, sitting in the new queue waiting on the AAs it seems15:41

seb128apw, same issue with the ppa most recent kernel17:56
seb128screen is back on but with the wrong resolution17:57
apwseb128, same as v3.18 -proposed ... ok17:57
seb128apw, should I comment/add details on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1408593 on open a new bug?18:06
ubot5Launchpad bug 1408593 in xorg (Ubuntu) "X server disables acceleartion or turns off output (makes screen black) after kernel upgrade to v3.18 (Ubuntu Vivid)" [High,Confirmed]18:06
apwit really does sound rather like the same issue, though generally people file their own to get the h/w info, and then link them to the oriignal18:07
seb128k, I commented on it, going to watch the activity/provide info if needed18:08
apwjsalisbury, ^ one worth looking at18:11
jsalisburyapw, ack18:18
jsalisburyapw, right, I recall that one.  3.19 fixes it for some, as does latest upstream 3.18, but not for others.  I'll dig in to it.18:19
jsalisburyseb128, If you have a chance, can you test this kernel:18:22
