justcarakasQUESTION why can't i just download something from the browser if there isn't an app registered for it16:31
justcarakaswithout wget16:31
mhall119justcarakas: there needs to be something that can do something with the file16:32
imnicholI suppose that it might be possible to register a "click://" URI scheme with the system like "apt://" is currently16:32
dholbachre: focaltech: does http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTgwNzE help?16:33
mhall119justcarakas: Ideally the File Manager will be able to provide a "if nothing better is available" option in the future16:33
mhall119just like it provides for opening files16:33
justcarakasmhall119: I wanted to download an epub, and the file manager didn't catch it16:34
little_fishrQUESTION: what will happen with Ubuntu Store and Ubuntu Software Center? will we have both of them on Ubuntu Next?16:34
mhall119justcarakas: right, the author of Beru is trying to get an EBook content type added to Content-Hub, which would allow that to "just work" for you16:35
justcarakasmhall: also beru isn't regsitered for it and since I cant paste in the console I had problems because it was a long url16:35
justcarakasok th16:35
mhall119justcarakas: I've also recommended to the Beru author that he use Content Hub without a specific file-type to open files, but that is going to require he add some smart handling for when the user gives it something that isn't actually an ebook16:36
mhall119so,it's possible, there's a couple of solutions, both just require work16:36
DS-McGuireThanks guys :)16:36
justcarakasoki, glad that its being worked on :) got me rather frustrated :)16:36
yoanncooljazzquestion: would it possible to make easier for webdevelopper to install their work environment (i mean node.js compass angularjs.....) by for exemple having them in software manager ?16:37
mhall119justcarakas: yeah, it's growing pains, but it'll be fixed16:37
mhall119yoanncooljazz: you probably don't want those in the archive, because they won't get feature updates16:37
mhall119yoanncooljazz: but, didrocks in #ubuntu-devel is working on something called "Ubuntu Make", which is exactly where you want that kind of thing16:38
yoanncooljazzah i understand but the process to instal all this is always so long16:38
mhall119yoanncooljazz: Ubuntu Make simplifies it16:38
yoanncooljazzok i will check this ubuntu MAke right now16:38
yoanncooljazzthx a lot16:38
little_fishrthanks guys!16:39
Pablo_QUESTION: What happened with the HUD? Will it return?16:39
mhall119I hope soon16:39
mhall119but the plan is to bring it back, yes16:39
poptart-of-doomyoanncooljazz: You might want to take a look at something like ansible16:40
yoanncooljazzansible ?16:40
* mhall119 would love to load up HUD actions for his app16:40
dholbachdid we miss any questions up until now?16:40
xorrito[questiom] i own a moto 360, amy plans on smart ware support?16:40
yoanncooljazzThanks a lot Alan Pope ! ubuntu make is what i need16:42
justcarakasQUESTION will we get something like apt-get that will still allow us to automatic update the image16:42
NephatiuQUESTION: Will Ubuntu Touch ever get finished? :p16:43
dpmhttps://developer.ubuntu.com/en/start/ubuntu-for-devices/image-channels/16:45
mhall119justcarakas: what do you mean "automatic update"?16:45
belkinsaNephatiu, like all programs and OSes, nothing will be finished.  There will be always something new to add or a bug to be fixed.  Everything will be always a work in progress.16:45
mhall119Nephatiu: softare is *never* finished ;)16:45
justcarakasi once heard that you couldn't get the OTA updates of the image if you used apt-get16:46
justcarakasbecause the image is than writable16:46
mhall119justcarakas: yeah, you have to pick which update method you want to use, you can't use both16:46
little_fishrQUESTION: is Unity8 themable?16:47
poptart-of-doomgreat question16:47
Nephatiubelkinsa, mhall119: I mean 'get out of testing' by 'finished'. ;p Like working on most Android devices, since it runs on a cm-version to the particar phone drivers don't seem so limiting...16:48
windows98[Question]16:52
mrqtrosHi guys16:52
justcarakasQUESTION is this the last question ?16:52
yoanncooljazzfor ubuntu-france we are charlie !16:53
* dholbach hugs justcarakas16:53
imnicholoh snap, popey dunks on qmail16:54
mhall119Nephatiu: porting to other android devices is independent of the state of Ubuntu Touch16:54
mhall119ian-weisser rocks!16:54
dholbachyes :)16:55
mhall119http://community.ubuntu.com/contribute/find-a-task/16:55
Nephatiumhall119: I can see that, but isn't that actually a limitation which you apply to yourselves? Since it could be more universal?16:55
NephatiuAs it needs an Android underneath, couldn't it get it's data from there?16:56
ian-weisserAny Ubuntu team or project can advertise a volunteer role.16:57
mhall119Nephatiu: the way we've built it, the Android layer is separate from the Ubuntu layer16:57
mhall119the Ubuntu layer doesn't prevent porting the Android layer to other devices, it's just a matter of finding people to do it16:58
NephatiuAnd conversion isn't possible?16:58
mhall119we had a porting guide that has gotten very out of date, but we're going to be updating that in the near future16:58
mhall119Nephatiu: porting is definitely possible16:58
mhall119it just takes work16:58
mhall119it's no different than Cyanogen16:58
Nephatiumhall119: That was another thing I was going to bring up, yes.16:58
NephatiuIf you could do that, I'd take a shot, but at this time it's depricated...16:58
mhall119Every device Cyanogen supports had to be created by somebody16:58
imnicholpopey, don't worry, I'm not Andrew ;)16:59
little_fishrbye16:59
mhall119thanks dholbach, dpm, popey!16:59

mrqtrosThanks :)16:59
dpmthanks everyone!16:59
mrqtrosI missed a lot =\16:59
imnichols/Andrew/Daniel16:59
vitimitiThanks to you, guys16:59
Nephatiuyeah, but before you flash touch, you need a CM version, and isn't CM quite universal in it's upper layer? So couldn't Touch get it's data from cm, convert it to it'ss own data and then run it?17:00
