[04:59] morning all [05:06] Good morning [05:13] hi gremble Tonberry [05:36] More almal [05:39] hi bduk1 mazal [05:41] Dankie tog dis darem amper weer Maandag [05:45] Why are you excited for monday? [05:45] That is unusual [05:51] lol === inetpro_ is now known as inetpro [06:45] good mornings [06:48] hi inetpro [06:53] Morning everyone [06:55] Does anybody know if there is a good av program for Ubuntu. I know about clam , but that doesn't find the virusses. My headache is usb sticks that was in Win machines. [06:56] Clam doesn't see and kill all the Win virusses [06:58] morning [06:58] well, Clams are pretty harmless. They just sit life out in the ocean [07:04] hi Squirm [07:04] Hey Squirm ? [07:04] mazal you can set clamtk to find all kinds of things [07:05] Kilos, clam doesn't find the virusses [07:05] eish [07:05] This is something I searched a lot and could never find a proper one [07:06] not for linux no [07:06] dont you have a win pc you can use [07:07] here is quite a good one for win [07:07] Here;s my problem. Our work use Win pc's , but they don't have proper av installed. So all sticks and pc is vrot. I am too low in the food chain that they listen to me. They don't want to buy proper av. [07:07] http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php [07:08] But I have my one Ubuntu pc , so I want to use that to clean my sticks when I was forced to use them on the work pc's [07:08] that one and avast you can get free [07:08] My own stuff that I control I don't have any issues , just here at work :( [07:08] adaware does malware as well [07:09] ya i savvy that . try get adaware installed on a few pcs at work [07:09] I think I must check out avast , haven't tried that yet I think [07:10] avast is very good [07:10] but i dont think it does all malware as well [07:13] Can't find it for Linux , just some old links of old versions [07:18] lol wheeeee gotta love it when sales plebs go complain to my boss about the fact that I'm being "obstructive" and he tells them to fuck off and follow process ;p [07:18] man just choose the win pc at work you have easiest access to and install antivirus there and use that pc to check sticks [07:23] hey Kilos, mazal, Symmetria [07:23] AVG Free ftw [07:24] and the AVG and Bitdefender boot CD's are pretty kickass [07:24] lol Symmetria, good :D [07:24] Squirm, currently I use the AVG boot cd , but that one also doesn't remove this one specific virus [07:24] mazal: if you're really stuck [07:25] Try combofix [07:25] I does kill a lot now , but it doesn't kill all [07:25] as a last resort [07:26] Kilos, 2 problems with that. We are not allowed to install any other software than the ones provided by our work , and my work pc doesn't have direct access to Internet so getting AV updated is a pain [07:26] eish [07:26] We did add MSE on it , but that one is also very light weight and only block some virusses [07:26] Squirm, is combofix also a boot cd ? [07:26] I hope with the AVG BootCD you did download the updates [07:27] mazal: it's a standalone exe [07:27] yep , manually [07:27] no need to install it [07:27] I download it with my Ubuntu pc , which is on internet and update the boot cd [07:27] http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/ [07:27] Will check it out ta Squirm [07:27] Problem is, you might need the internet at the time to update it [07:28] Oh boy [07:28] That's always the main issue in my specific case :( [07:28] Yeah :/ [07:29] what a schlep hey [07:29] That's why I'm looking for an Ubuntu one , as my Ubuntu pc has full access ( on a different network ) [07:29] mazal where are they getting virrii from if they cant go online [07:30] that avast had something about installing on ubuntu some years ago , dont know if they gave up or what [07:31] Kilos, their current AV is suppose to update from our Head Office on our internal WAN [07:31] ah [07:31] But A. The AV itself is old and useless rubbish and B. their updates don't work [07:31] fix it [07:32] I have resorted to manually updating it by downloading it's manual update on my Ubu pc , and even fully updated the garbage don't see the virusses [07:32] It's an old Mcafee they use [07:32] oh my [07:32] I literally sit and check how the virus infect my files one by one and it just sits there and do nothing [07:33] negotiate with their it guy at head office [07:33] That's like talking to the walls [07:33] the IT guy? [07:33] Yeah all of them don't listen to us [07:33] surely he is in the same boat as you [07:34] We are cockroaches down here they don't care about [07:34] ai! [07:34] No , they look after themselves , they have the best of everything [07:35] Worst off all , we are the IT guys on the ground level that must fix and support everything. But we have no say and no support from them [07:41] hi Vince-0 [07:41] Hi Kilos [07:41] And there goes the electricity again :( [07:41] you never miss a beat [07:42] hehe [07:47] inetpro [07:47] http://mybroadband.co.za/news/cellular/116954-r149-unlimited-data-sim-what-happened-behind-the-scenes.html [07:55] lets hope they get something good going with telkom [08:02] lol mazal dont feel bad about your power issues [08:02] this morning we woke up in kenya with 75% of the country without powe r [08:02] because of a system overload that tripped most of the national grid [08:02] ;p [08:05] We are close to that Symmetria [08:06] Better go to museums and start collecting coal stoves and things [08:07] hehe [08:43] If that happens here it is going to be worse than simply being dark [08:43] The Rand will drop like a stone [10:00] good day [10:09] hi magespawn [11:07] aw the fly got something broken [11:07] sup who_da_fly ?
