jnolletteim hoping to use bittorrent sync.... is there another way00:48
jnolletteproxy server?00:48
jnollette(that doesn't make any sense)00:48
cryptodanjnollette: follow the guidance for the application if it requires uPNP to be enabled dont use it00:49
avid_fanI can't seem to get NFS working on 14.04. I had a similar setup with 12.04, and all the HowTos are pretty straightforward. Mounting the NFS export does not produce and error, but accessing the file system returns "cannot access Stale file handle".01:11
=== skorv is now known as kaonashi
cryptodanavid_fan: how are you trying to mount?01:16
avid_fancryptodan, command-line/terminal01:18
cryptodancan you provide the line01:19
avid_fancryptodan, I've tried several different options, but the latest is 'mount 192.168.123.10:/mnt/export'01:19
avid_fancryptodan, that command takes longer than it used to on 12.04, but it produces no error. It's only when I try to access the mounted filespace that I get "Stale file handle".01:20
cryptodanyou need to file system time01:20
cryptodantype*01:20
avid_fanI've tried to add '-t nfs' but it doesn't help.01:21
cryptodanso mount -t nfs 192.168.123.10:/mnt/export01:21
cryptodanwhat howtos have you followed01:22
avid_fancryptodan, lol, several. I've run through installing the nfs-kernel-server package, editing the /etc/exports file, and starting/restarting the nfs-kernel-server service.01:23
cryptodanhave you installed the nfs-common package for the client?01:23
avid_fancryptodan, 'showmount --exports' on the server as well as the client show the exports configured.01:24
cryptodanavid_fan: can you share the exports file to dpaste.com01:24
avid_fancryptodan, sure.01:24
avid_fancryptodan, http://dpaste.com/3S5DGR601:25
avid_fancryptodan, it's surprisingly simple. :-)01:26
cryptodanI think you are missing something01:26
cryptodan/mnt/lacie/multimedia   *(rw,insecure,async,all_squash,no_subtree_check) should be /mnt/lacie/multimedia   192.168.0.0/16(rw,insecure,async,all_squash,no_subtree_check)01:27
avid_fancryptodan, I've tried 192.168.123.0/24 with no success, but I'll try that subnet prefix.01:28
cryptodanhere is my exports line /home/cryptodan/public_html 192.168.1.0/24(rw,nohide,insecure,no_subtree_check,sync)01:29
cryptodanalso I followed this one https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpNFSHowTo01:29
avid_fancryptodan, yeah, that's one of the HowTos I read. I've done this more than once in the past. But I guess, from what I've read, that was all NFSv3 no v4.01:31
avid_fannot v4.01:31

Ether_ManHi I could really do with some help on this. I recently upgraded my server to 14.04, and unfortunately, that broke both webaccess and webapp of zarafa which now has no installation candidate, and trying to install those packages manually, gives that they depend on php5-mapi. Which relies on phpapi-20090626 which I cant seem to find anywhere. Is there an alternative for 14.04 for php5-mapi or phpapi-20090626 so that I can install the03:11
Ether_Man one from the tarball on the site?03:11
cryptodanhttp://i.imgur.com/6LSwBHa.png see my mouse cursor03:12
Ether_Mancryptodan, I've seen it yes... It cannot be installed due to phpapi-20090626 is a missing dependancy...03:12
Ether_ManWhich I've told you now no less than 4 times.03:13
cryptodanI do not get that dep error so more than likely you downloaded the wrong one.03:13
cryptodanthat is for 14.0403:13
cryptodanas you can see03:13
Ether_ManThen you somehow have gotten that dep. Somewhere. I have yet to find a source that has that.03:13
cryptodanEther_Man: I cant install it on my 386 based server03:16
hydrajumphow can I redirect the consolue output of a program started as a regular user to /var/log/mylogfile?03:26
hydrajumpI've tried `/usr/local/bin/myapp | sudo tee /var/log/mylogfile.log` but it doesn't create the log file03:27
cryptodanEther_Man: run the install.sh script03:30
Ether_Mancryptodan, 1. The script only supports 10.04 and 12.04, not 14.04. 2. The script relies on the packages already being installed. It's just for configuring them.03:32
cryptodanI hit continue03:32
cryptodanit will install the packages03:32
Ether_ManSigh... It installs them, the same way that can be done manually... Which fails because of unmet dependancy... Please... If you dont know the answer, dont just make random suggestions03:36
cryptodanit worked for me03:36
cryptodanand Zarafa started successfully03:36
Ether_ManYes, because as you mentioned before... YOU HAVE THE DEP...03:36
cryptodanNo I did not03:37
Ether_ManZarafa itself starts just fine... Webaccess and webapp does not...03:37
cryptodanI have never installed anything php5 related on my desktop03:37
Ether_ManThat does not change that you still have the deps from somewhere.03:38
cryptodanI downloaded them from the site03:38
cryptodanall of them03:38
Ether_ManNo you didnt, because the site does not provide the dep03:38
cryptodanthey came in a tarball from the download03:38
cryptodanYes it does03:38
cryptodanI showed you a screenshot03:39
cryptodanthats all in the tarball03:39

cryptodanI am done trying to help you when I havep rovided it03:39

Grey_Loki_Hi. I'm using U-S with byobu and weechat. After performing an update, byobu seems to have taken the alt+arrow left/right shortcut as its own, and uses it to switch between byobu windows. I was originally using it to change buffers in Weechat, and so would like to disable that particular functionality in byobu.12:54
Grey_Loki_I've tried commenting out what I think are the correct two lines in /usr/share/byobu/keybindings/common, but still the behaviour persists.12:57

AnnoyedGreetings..  Running Ubuntu server for a home file/dns/etc. server for the home network. What woould be a good choice for mail software so that system utilities can mail stuff to the root account?16:34
AnnoyedI do NOT need to provide real mail services of any sort.16:34
SchrodingersScat!info ssmtp | Annoyed16:37
ubottuAnnoyed: ssmtp (source: ssmtp): extremely simple MTA to get mail off the system to a mail hub. In component universe, is extra. Version 2.64-8 (utopic), package size 43 kB, installed size 8 kB16:37
AnnoyedI don't even want it to talk to the outside. All I want is mail within the system itself; so that various processes can mail their logs, reports and whatever to the system root account.16:39
Patrickdkreplace sendmail program with a cat >> /var/mail/root16:46
Patrickdkand call it done? :)16:46
AnnoyedA16:48
AnnoyedHmmmm.. That's simple enough.16:49
Annoyedjust create a shell script file and call it sendmail and have it contain "cat >> /var/mail/root" ?16:51
AnnoyedMy concern is I don't want to accidentlly send mail out to the real world with any of the real mail daemons16:52
AnnoyedThanks, I'll give that a shot17:00
AnnoyedGreetings...  Installing postfix on a VM to get a feel for it... during install, there's segment where you can select the server use .. If I choose "local only", will this prevent it from ever sending mail to the real world?18:06
Patrickdkunless you reconfigure it, sure18:07
AnnoyedSo,I don't have to worry about it inadvertantly sending mail to the real world ? I do NOT want to send mail, I just want internal to work18:08
Annoyedtest send to a real address on the VM failed, err. 5.0.0, but I'm still leery of installing it on a "live" machine connected to the 'net18:09
