sternshello, I am attempting to install the new alpha2 ubuntu gnome release.  J19:33
sternsI'm dealing with the USB boot issue describe here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/132580119:34
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1325801 in usb-creator (Ubuntu Utopic) "failed to boot from USB disk with error: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R Image boot:" [Critical,Triaged]19:34
sternshas this issue been resolved?19:34
trismsterns: have you tried unetbootin? doesn't look like that issue is resolved, but I've noticed in the past simliar issues creating usbs with usb-creator of newer ubuntus on older ubuntus, but unetbootin almost always works for me19:45
sternstrism: unetbootin is my tool of choice and that is what I was using.  I'm trying dd method now, and BTW I have confirmed proper checksum.19:46
sternsI'm using utopic to create the image19:46
sternsimage complete... I'll report back later19:48
elfybah not quick enough ... with unetbootin tab then use unetbootindefault and it should boot19:49
BluesKaj_trism, have you tried dd the image to the usb stick20:00
BluesKaj_oops sterns rather20:00
BluesKaj_heh..too late anyway..poor typing skills does it every time :)20:01
BluesKaj_elfy, someone suggested dd to me the other day and it worked, much faster than unetbootin or usb-creator20:05
elfyyea - works for me - I just don't like recommending it to people if I'm not sure they'll get syntax right :)20:05
elfyI did some testing of burning tools yesterday - the gnome-disks one worked every time20:06
BluesKaj_elfy, understood , but I had a lot more trouble with unetbootin than dd, of the command string has to be correct, but there are plenty of tuts and examples if one googles20:12
