nhainesExcept for Jess, who was *supposed* to handwave all my technical details through and take the free money, not write a second novel in the comments.  ;)06:59

TelendrithMorning!20:18
ianorlinhi20:19
TelendrithNo Hi!?! You haven't had enough coffee today20:21
* ianorlin actually doesn't drink coffee20:21
TelendrithWait. What?20:22
TelendrithI mean, I drink a cup of Tea before my coffee but I don't think I could go without the coffee half :|20:22
TelendrithI have a question I guess I could bounce off you guys20:32
TelendrithAfter 6 years of being in the Army, I'm finally finishing up and heading home. I live in the country, ok. That's a bad example, it's not country, it's strait up rural no-mans land. And as beautiful and magical as it is there's no internet, etc. How hard would it be to get rural internet or start a rural ISP20:33
ianorlinI don't honestly know but it could be hard because of costs of running cables and other things20:34
ianorlinand also if someone claims to have a deal but isn't serving it20:34
ianorlinwith lots of regulation20:34
akkRural ISPs often use wireless, I believe.20:34
TelendrithInteresting, I've heard that, but there's no LOS in our area :(20:35
akkI don't know how they get the connection that they then share out to their customers.20:35
TelendrithWe'd haveto run fiber20:35
TelendrithIt looks like the FCC and USDA run a few subsidies and grants20:36
akkThere is satellite internet but latency is pretty terrible, I hear.20:36
TelendrithBut how hard would the non-red tape part be20:36
TelendrithLike infrastructure, servers, etc be20:37
ianorlinfinding qualified people in the area could be a problem as there might not be that many20:38
TelendrithI'd say there's about 20-120 people20:39
