erenI've compiled ubuntu-vivid kernel, I successfully booted it and I now have debug symbols at /usr/lib/debug/. when i try to use iperf with -k /usr/lib/debug/boot/vmlinx... option, it reports vmlinux cannot be used10:38
erensorry, iperf = perf10:38
erenI compiled perf in tools/perf/ directory, btw10:39
erenoh sorry, it was compiled without drawf support, my bad10:44

ChrisP1948Since kernel version after 3.13.0-35 my system has been hanging after about 1 1/2 days with kernel: [106482.820016] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... render ring idle at first I thought it was totally locked up but on further inspection I noticed that all background processes continued to run. I've filed two bugs, one on Launchpad and added to another at freedesktop.org, https://bugs.launchpad.net/14:25
ChrisP1948ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1402331 and https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75394. 14:25
ubot5Freedesktop bug 75394 in DRM/Intel "System hangs randomly with error message: [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... render ring idle" [Critical,Needinfo]14:25
ChrisP1948For the Ubuntu report I've been asked to do a 'kernel bisection' I've got the directions but really not sure still after reading how to go about it.14:26

tseliotapw: the nvidia packages that I'm going to upload soon seem to be working fine with 346. I need to figure out a few more (unrelated) details before I upload though16:51

hallynsforshee: hey, just checking, has there been any discussion anywhere about your ext4-userns patchset?  17:41
sforsheehallyn: I haven't posted them yet, I'm currently in the process of auditing vfs and lsm code to find everything which needs to be change there.17:43
sforsheeI hope to have something fairly well tested later this week17:43
hallynsforshee: cool.  i'll play as soon as you say they're ready :)17:48
sforsheehallyn: I'll welcome the testing :-)17:48
sforsheejust lots of nooks and crannies to go through17:48
hallynsforshee: maybe i'm too tired for this, but how do you use them right now?  you pass loopback into the userns?17:49
sforsheehallyn: yep, I make a loopback device and bind mount it into a container17:51
hallynok, so if this goes anywhere i guess it may become rationale for a real loop fix17:51
hallynthanks sforshee - ttyl17:51

ChrisP1948I need to build kernel version 3.13.0-35 so I can run a kernel bisection to try and debug this issue I and others are having. In the instructions for building a kernel is says "sudo apt-get build-dep linux-image-$(uname -r)" do I put the version I want to build in place of uname-r?23:40
