jianUbuntu 15.04, Press Ctrl+Shift+D in nautilus but could not open GtkInspector, and idea is appreciated.15:31
IdleOneWhat is the command to upgrade to daily? I haven't done it in a while and I forget :/22:19
ikoniaapt-get upgrade / dist-upgrade should keep you up to date22:20
ikoniaas the it's just the repos thats changing packages22:20
k1l_from 14.10 to 15.04 use update-manager -d22:20
ikoniaooh you mean from a stable release to unstable22:20
ikoniasorry22:20
DalekSecOr  do-release-upgrade  for the CLI version, of course.22:20
DalekSec-d22:21
IdleOnek1l_: tells me command not found22:21
ikoniaupdate-manager isn't found ?22:21
IdleOneah do-release-upgrade!22:21
ikoniaIdleOne: what desktop do you run ?22:21
IdleOneikonia: nope, but this is kubuntu22:21
k1l_IdleOne: erm. the cli version is do-release-upgrade -d then22:21
ikoniaahh22:21
IdleOnethanks guys :)22:21
k1l_dont know what the kde guys call their updates stuff app22:21
IdleOneThis is probably going to break everything but oh well22:23
ikoniafortune favours the bold22:24
* IdleOne is nothing if not bold22:24
IdleOnehaven't ran dev version in a long while. getting bored with stuff just working all the time22:26
IdleOneLog readers: The above command is NOT recommended it should not be done unless you are willing to live with a broken operating system. You have been warned.22:27
ikoniayou've got the right attitude for it though, so you won't have a problem22:27
IdleOneikonia: I used to run dev all the time I know what to expect. Just couldn't remember the command cause it had been so long22:28
DalekSecIdleOne: Run systemd too?22:28
ikoniaexaclty the right attitude22:28
IdleOneDalekSec: I have been running whatever 14.10 has22:29
ikoniarather than "OMG !!! MY COLLEGE WORK IS LOST !!! HELP !!"22:29
ikoniayou're in for a treat then.....14.10 does not run systemd22:29
DalekSecNor does 15.04 by default, not yet.22:29
IdleOneI don't know what systemd does. I expect it has to do with the system running.22:30
DalekSecIt's another init system, so you'd use that rather than upstart.22:30
ikoniaIdleOne: if you can work without knowing what what it does, you'll have a great experience, seriously22:30
ikoniait's much more than an init system though22:30
ikonia15.04 is the first one thats got the full framework in by design22:30
ikoniaso you can properly run it22:30
DalekSecYes, that, exactly.  Well, systemd as a group of applications or the init system?  It's tightly integrated with udev and logind, yes.22:31
ikoniait's pretty much your userland kernel22:31
ikoniaas a weak summary of it22:31
IdleOneyeah, I don't go that far into my system. I just care that it works.22:31
DalekSecI've noticed that on upgrades it sometimes de-syncs with policykit or logind, such that you need the root password to simply automount devices, reboot, and the like.22:33
=== TV is now known as Guest66902
ikoniaDalekSec: do you think that is policy kit in general or how ubuntu has it currently setup22:53
DalekSecikonia: I don't know the cause of it, perhaps how systemd handles updates?  But only seen it on 15.04 with systemd as the init (not been using upstart there to see if it's init related.)22:54
