=== idleone_ is now known as io [12:55] hello phiscribe [12:55] where is philw? [14:35] Hi everyone, i was wondering if you may be able to help. i have a vanilla install of lubuntu 14.10 and i am trying to get an onscreen keyboard on the lock screen. i have sudo apt-get install onboard (on screen keyboard) but under the accessibility icon (circle with a man inside it) top right of the lock screen the only options there are "Large font" and "High Contrast" [21:31] I've got a 250 GB hard drive and I'm installing lubuntu on a 50 GB partition. Where should the mount point be? [21:32] fig: ummmmmmm, /? :) [21:32] wxl, is that a guess, or is it a stupid question? :) [21:32] fig: no question is stupid, but that's kind of the default set up [21:32] gotcha, thanks [21:32] you can make it whatever you want tho [21:38] wxl: just curious, if I were to remove my dual boot configuration, how do I get rid of the bootloader? [21:39] well assuming your bootloader is grub, fig, you just change it, not remove it. [21:39] change it? What do you mean? [21:39] does "remove my dual boot configuration" mean keeping lubuntu or keeping your other OS? [21:39] you update grub to tell it that there's only one image to boot to :) [21:40] keeping my other OS, windows [21:41] usual method is http://superuser.com/a/289496 [21:41] tl;dr: you reinstall Windows' bootloader over the top of it [21:42] huh....OK. I actually did make a recovery USB when I bought this computer, so I guess that should work [21:42] and I do have everything backed up on a hard drive too [21:42] in case things go south [21:45] all right, about to install on my partition, and it's telling me I have to make a 1 MB partition for the bootloader, otherwise I'll have trouble later. It says I should designate it as a reserved BIOS boot area...... [21:45] should that be logical or primary? [21:46] and am I correct in assuming that the mount point for that should be /boot ? [21:46] wxl, rww ^^^ [21:47] if you're getting rid of lubuntu and keeping windows, it might be more of a windows question, fig [21:48] i'm pretty sure there's a ##windows channel aruond here somewhere [21:48] no, no, that was a hypothetical for future endeavors [21:48] and even still [21:48] I'm installing lubuntu alongside windows right now [21:48] hypothetically, it's not something that i have any experience with [21:48] and i doubt many folks in the community do [21:48] and if they do, they probably haven't removed lubuntu [21:48] if anything, they've removed windows :) [21:49] rww gave me an adequate response a moment ago, so I'm not really concerned about that....again, a hypothetical for something in the future [21:49] for now.... [21:49] what are the right parameters for the bootloader partition? [21:49] grub is in /boot [21:49] cool..... [21:50] and logical or primary? I would assume logical since it isn't primary [21:50] but it could be I guess [21:51] http://askubuntu.com/questions/464402/choosing-partition-types-for-swap-and-root-and-choosing-device-for-bootloader-in
