dannershey i am running ubuntu on an odroid u2. everytime i reboot i need to run ntpudate to get the correct time. is there a package that stores the current time on shutdown in a file and restores it on bootup? it doesnt have to be the correct time on reboot, i just want a continous time.09:49
ogra_danners, by default ntpdate should be run every time a network device is brought up ... is the device not connected ?10:07
dannersogra_: not always10:07
ogra_well, there is no hwclock on the odroid ...10:08
ogra_or rather ... no battery for it10:08
dannersi seem to have in the back of my head, that there is a debian package that does what i want: save the time to a file and restore it from that on reboot. but i cant find it10:08
ogra_(i think i saw a /dev/rtc at least)10:08
dannersyeah it has no battery for it10:08
ogra_we have a snippet in our initrd that sets the clock to the last mount time ...10:08
ogra_(which will indeed be off but prevents you from jan 01 1970)10:09
ogra_you just have to put "fixrtc" on your kernel cmdline to activate it10:09
