aSheepie | Silly question, if I'm deving an app, where do I set the group into which it falls, e.g. Communication ? I've looked at the twitter app src and can't find where that specifies it | 00:11 |

aSheepie | Elleo: Ah, thanks, so if it's an app I'm installing directly to the phone, there's no way of doing this then? Reason is, I'm making a second Twitter webapp container so I can run two accounts simultaneously and I was hoping to put it in the Communication category alongside the core Twitter app | 00:44 |
Elleo | aSheepie: yeah, not sure if there's any way to do it manually | 00:46 |
aSheepie | Elleo: OK, thanks, it's not a huge issue, I guess, it's just that I like to get things properly set up and that was niggling at me | 00:48 |

rvr | cyphermox: Hey. I was testing mtp. I was surprised that in Mac, the transferred files has 1970-1-1 00:00 as date. | 13:57 |
rvr | cyphermox: From phone to desktop. | 13:58 |
cyphermox | ah, yeah\ | 13:58 |
cyphermox | I suspect the date isn't being set in the mtp database | 13:58 |
davidcalle | dholbach, \o/ | 13:58 |
dholbach | yeehaw! | 13:58 |
cyphermox | rvr: date created or date modified? | 13:59 |
rvr | cyphermox: Date modified | 13:59 |
cyphermox | rvr: looks like it's probably set, but it may be wrong anyway | 14:00 |
cyphermox | rvr: wanna play with this? | 14:00 |
dpm | davidcalle, I love the overview steps at the start of the guide, and the terminology section. I think these make the guide much easier to navigate and understand | 14:05 |
cyphermox | rvr: looking at the spec it looks like there data format isn't properly specified for dates, that may be what breaks it on Mac | 14:09 |
rvr | cyphermox: I haven't tested with an Android. | 14:11 |
rvr | cyphermox: Using Android, transferring a picture from Mac to device, last modified time is changed. From device to Mac, time is kept. | 14:15 |
cyphermox | you mean kept as epoch | 14:17 |
cyphermox | well, as 0 really | 14:17 |
cyphermox | rvr: I understand, but it's probably just a small bit missing in mtp; from what I can quickly see it may be missing a uint8 in the data packet to set the "form" of the string that passes the date. | 14:18 |
rvr | cyphermox: 2014-08-31 | 14:18 |
cyphermox | rvr: which device is that from? | 14:18 |
rvr | cyphermox: I have some photos in a Nexus 7 (Android), and the modified dates are transferred correctly to Mac desktop. | 14:20 |
cyphermox | yes, I understood that part | 14:21 |

kenvandine | seb128, i had a question on your bluetooth-device-visibility-tweak branch | 14:47 |
seb128 | kenvandine, shoot | 14:49 |
kenvandine | Do we really want to make it discoverable regardless of the previous state? | 14:50 |
kenvandine | i asked in the MP too | 14:50 |
seb128 | kenvandine, hum, maybe not, do you know cases where that panel is in focus and shouldn't be discoverable? | 14:53 |
kenvandine | seb128, and i wanted to get a review from cyphermox for your other bt branch | 14:53 |
kenvandine | seb128, i was thinking about that, right now when you go to that page it goes right to discoverable | 14:54 |
kenvandine | shouldn' | 14:54 |
kenvandine | t that be the opposite? | 14:54 |
kenvandine | start out undescoverable | 14:54 |
kenvandine | and let you switch it | 14:54 |
kenvandine | don't we default to off on the desktop? | 14:55 |
kenvandine | and you have to switch visible on? | 14:55 |
seb128 | kenvandine, what we do on the desktop doesn't make sense | 14:55 |
kenvandine | seb128, right now if you turn it off | 14:55 |
kenvandine | and load the page, it doesn't turn it on | 14:55 |
seb128 | on what? | 14:56 |
kenvandine | the phone | 14:56 |
seb128 | turn what off? | 14:56 |
seb128 | there is no visibility setting | 14:56 |
cyphermox | kenvandine: the discoverable part is in the design | 14:56 |
seb128 | we enable it 1s after loading the page | 14:56 |
kenvandine | oh | 14:56 |
* kenvandine was confused :) | 14:56 | |
cyphermox | ie. you get to the page and it enables it after 1s, right | 14:56 |
cyphermox | 1s is really fast though considering how fast the page loads... | 14:56 |
kenvandine | seb128, ok, so then your branch makes sense | 14:56 |

seb128 | https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bluetooth#Discoverability | 14:57 |
kenvandine | seb128, oh? | 14:58 |
seb128 | kenvandine, it should do it after 1 second | 14:58 |
cyphermox | yeah, missing the spinner | 14:58 |
cyphermox | seb128: it is, after 1 second. but that gets mixed up in page drawing time | 14:58 |
seb128 | cyphermox, does it? shouldn't the spinner be linked to the state? | 14:58 |
cyphermox | ie. this code gets run before the page is fully displayed, AFAICT | 14:59 |
cyphermox | as I recall there was a spinner added and the "right" code for it | 14:59 |
cyphermox | should be easy to test by bumping that to a 10s delay or something, though | 14:59 |

mariogrip | your* | 14:59 |
kenvandine | cyphermox, it doesn't feel like 1s... feels faster | 15:00 |
kenvandine | cyphermox, and when you leave the page, it is supposed to pause long enough for you to see it change to "Not discoverable" | 15:00 |

seb128 | cyphermox, kenvandine, I don't understand what you mean for the after 1s | 15:04 |
seb128 | it does it in the backend | 15:04 |
seb128 | // Delay enabling discoverability by 1 second. | 15:04 |
seb128 | m_discoverableTimer.setSingleShot(true); | 15:04 |
seb128 | connect(&m_discoverableTimer, SIGNAL(timeout()), this, SLOT(slotEnableDiscoverable())); | 15:04 |
kenvandine | seb128, yeah... it just feels so fast | 15:04 |
kenvandine | you don't get to see it change at all | 15:04 |
seb128 | kenvandine, cyphermox, well, the code I added does it on focus, without delay | 15:04 |
seb128 | so it regresses that part | 15:04 |
kenvandine | i just tried it without your branch | 15:04 |
kenvandine | i think the timer should be in the qml side | 15:05 |
kenvandine | and do it onComponentComplete | 15:05 |
cyphermox | seb128: not the branch I just reviewed though, where is that other code? | 15:05 |
cyphermox | do you need a review for it? | 15:05 |
kenvandine | https://code.launchpad.net/~seb128/ubuntu-system-settings/bluetooth-device-visibility-tweak/+merge/250105 | 15:06 |
kenvandine | cyphermox, ^^ | 15:06 |
cyphermox | ah, well actually if it was already open before I guess we don't need to go through another round of waiting 1 second | 15:07 |
cyphermox | but it's up to you | 15:07 |
cyphermox | and I agree it probably should be dependent on what the switch state was at that point | 15:07 |

kenvandine | nah | 17:17 |
kenvandine | this is just when we switch back to it with the page open | 17:17 |
kenvandine | i think it's fine | 17:17 |
seb128 | are you sure it's not also called on first time we focus? | 17:17 |
kenvandine | it isn' | 17:17 |
kenvandine | t | 17:17 |
kenvandine | well, i'm pretty sure :) | 17:18 |
kenvandine | because the app is already focused | 17:18 |
kenvandine | when the page loads | 17:18 |
seb128 | oh, good then ;-) | 17:18 |
kenvandine | if we get that state change there, it's a bug | 17:18 |
kenvandine | imo | 17:18 |
seb128 | kenvandine, it's called if you open that panel directly :-/ | 17:21 |
kenvandine | ah | 17:21 |
kenvandine | from the indicator? | 17:21 |
seb128 | yes | 17:21 |
kenvandine | bugger | 17:22 |
seb128 | kenvandine, well, I guess it's easy enough to delay with a qml timer, I've to call it a week in 15 minutes, so feel free to pick that up or I can look to it on monday | 17:29 |
kenvandine | seb128, ok, i might take a stab at it today | 17:30 |
kenvandine | if not monday is fine | 17:30 |
seb128 | k | 17:30 |
seb128 | kenvandine, just replace the start by a time.start and have the timer do the call | 17:30 |
kenvandine | seb128, have a good weekend | 17:31 |
seb128 | or maybe just have it not doing it on the first call | 17:31 |
seb128 | or like only if a variable is set and set it on Component.onComplete | 17:31 |
seb128 | since the backends does the first set anyway | 17:31 |
seb128 | kenvandine, thanks, you too! | 17:31 |

chancho | Hey Guys, I just installed ubuntu-touch utopic and vivid using Multirom on my Nexus 5 (I know it's not supported, but wanted to give it a shot). Everything works great so far, but I just cannot use apt! Whenever i try to update it's database it faily with an 404 not found on ports.ubuntu.com in both(!) vivid and utopic, Is there something I can to about it or is it by design? | 21:54 |
adrian47 | How can i disable screen timeout at building process? | 22:01 |
