lamontI seem to have lost my window manager with a recent vivid upgrade... is this expected?05:31
darkxstlamont, you using nvidia blob?05:39
lamontdarkxst: yes05:40
lamontnvidia-{313,319,331,340}-updates are installed05:40
lamontdarkxst: is it worth testing it without nvidia-updates?05:41
darkxstlamont, something killed mine today also05:41
darkxstI upgraded to nvidia-346 from xorg-edgers and it worked again05:42
* lamont gives it a stab05:42
darkxstthough with no recent kernel updates seems a bit odd, something else is probably going on05:45
* lamont watches the download crawl05:46
lamontdarkxst: 346 is worse (from vivid)06:00
darkxstlamont, working perfectly here, but I am on gnome-shell06:05
lamontdowngrading compiz doesn't fix it either, ditto nautilus+compiz06:27
* lamont sleeps06:27
aeorildarkxst I am no longer working on the bug you have been helping me with - it is just too hard for my first bug.  You indicated there was another good "beginner bug" to me - is that still open?  I would be glad to work on it since you suggested it and you have helped me so much.  Thanks.12:35
aeorilsarnold thank you as well for helping me on my first bug.  Too bad I could not figure it out.12:36

darkxstaeoril, ok, maybe you could look at bug 142211320:13
ubottubug 1422113 in ubiquity (Ubuntu Vivid) "Missing complete icon" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/142211320:13
darkxstand bug 1422176 is also similar20:14
ubottubug 1422176 in Ubuntu GNOME "Missing icon for new bug report" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/142217620:14
aeorildarkxst ok, will do - funny, I just got back and hopped on like 5 minutes ago!  Been gone all day!20:14
* darkxst just woke up20:14
aeorildarkxst do you think anyone will pick up on my bug I tried to work on and triage it and fix it?20:14
aeorildarkxst did you see I contacted chpe and he said he thought it was something in Ubuntu, not vte or gnome-terminal?20:15
aeorildarkxst good morning! :)20:15
darkxstaeoril, I did see that20:17
aeorildarkxst do you have any input on that?  It seemed to me to really be pointing to vte3 or gnome-terminal, especially as I looked into the code20:18
darkxstits possible chpe includes, running old versions of code as Ubuntu problem20:18
aeorildarkxst I tried to explain to him that I was trying to find the fix to backport, but he seemed really busy and probably did not really have time to read my e-mails thoroughly - I bet he stays very busy ...20:19
aeorildarkxst in other words, your presumption seems very plausible in light of our e-mail interaction20:20
aeorildarkxst 1422113 looks at first blush like a one line change - probably just change a pathname somewhere20:24
darkxstaeoril, yes, you need to rename the icon20:25
darkxstI would also suggest you check there are no other affected icons in the package20:26
aeorildarkxst yes, in the xml file20:26
aeorilok, I could do that - is there something I need to do "officially" to get started on this?  Or just start fixing it and when I get it working, let you know?20:28
darkxstaeoril, make a bzr branch, fix it, then link to bug20:29
aeorildarkxst ok, will do - I guess ubiquity is just the standard installer for Ubuntu?20:30
darkxstyes, and ubuntu is upstream for ubiquity20:30
aeoriloh, I guess that makes it easier ...20:30
aeoril(thanks :)20:30
darkxstaeoril, lp:ubiquity20:31
aeorildarkxst ok, cool - thanks :)20:32
aeorildarkxst I guess I should do this with sbuild?20:33
aeorildarkxst bbl - gotta run to the store20:36
nickSweI am running Ubuntu 14.10 on a laptop with a external HDMI monitor running on 1080 resolution. On the login screen on initial boot up the login screen is scaled incorrectly and I see some graphic issues like strange lines on the side. It appears it is scaling the login screen to whatever my laptop resolution is set to. How can I change this so that it scales properly on the external monitor?23:40
