lamont | I seem to have lost my window manager with a recent vivid upgrade... is this expected? | 05:31 |
---|---|---|
darkxst | lamont, you using nvidia blob? | 05:39 |
lamont | darkxst: yes | 05:40 |
lamont | nvidia-{313,319,331,340}-updates are installed | 05:40 |
lamont | darkxst: is it worth testing it without nvidia-updates? | 05:41 |
darkxst | lamont, something killed mine today also | 05:41 |
darkxst | I upgraded to nvidia-346 from xorg-edgers and it worked again | 05:42 |
* lamont gives it a stab | 05:42 | |
darkxst | though with no recent kernel updates seems a bit odd, something else is probably going on | 05:45 |
* lamont watches the download crawl | 05:46 | |
lamont | darkxst: 346 is worse (from vivid) | 06:00 |
darkxst | lamont, working perfectly here, but I am on gnome-shell | 06:05 |
lamont | downgrading compiz doesn't fix it either, ditto nautilus+compiz | 06:27 |
* lamont sleeps | 06:27 | |
aeoril | darkxst I am no longer working on the bug you have been helping me with - it is just too hard for my first bug. You indicated there was another good "beginner bug" to me - is that still open? I would be glad to work on it since you suggested it and you have helped me so much. Thanks. | 12:35 |
aeoril | sarnold thank you as well for helping me on my first bug. Too bad I could not figure it out. | 12:36 |

darkxst | aeoril, ok, maybe you could look at bug 1422113 | 20:13 |
ubottu | bug 1422113 in ubiquity (Ubuntu Vivid) "Missing complete icon" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1422113 | 20:13 |
darkxst | and bug 1422176 is also similar | 20:14 |
ubottu | bug 1422176 in Ubuntu GNOME "Missing icon for new bug report" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1422176 | 20:14 |
aeoril | darkxst ok, will do - funny, I just got back and hopped on like 5 minutes ago! Been gone all day! | 20:14 |
* darkxst just woke up | 20:14 | |
aeoril | darkxst do you think anyone will pick up on my bug I tried to work on and triage it and fix it? | 20:14 |
aeoril | darkxst did you see I contacted chpe and he said he thought it was something in Ubuntu, not vte or gnome-terminal? | 20:15 |
aeoril | darkxst good morning! :) | 20:15 |
darkxst | aeoril, I did see that | 20:17 |
aeoril | darkxst do you have any input on that? It seemed to me to really be pointing to vte3 or gnome-terminal, especially as I looked into the code | 20:18 |
darkxst | its possible chpe includes, running old versions of code as Ubuntu problem | 20:18 |
aeoril | darkxst I tried to explain to him that I was trying to find the fix to backport, but he seemed really busy and probably did not really have time to read my e-mails thoroughly - I bet he stays very busy ... | 20:19 |
aeoril | darkxst in other words, your presumption seems very plausible in light of our e-mail interaction | 20:20 |
aeoril | darkxst 1422113 looks at first blush like a one line change - probably just change a pathname somewhere | 20:24 |
darkxst | aeoril, yes, you need to rename the icon | 20:25 |
darkxst | I would also suggest you check there are no other affected icons in the package | 20:26 |
aeoril | darkxst yes, in the xml file | 20:26 |
aeoril | ok, I could do that - is there something I need to do "officially" to get started on this? Or just start fixing it and when I get it working, let you know? | 20:28 |
darkxst | aeoril, make a bzr branch, fix it, then link to bug | 20:29 |
aeoril | darkxst ok, will do - I guess ubiquity is just the standard installer for Ubuntu? | 20:30 |
darkxst | yes, and ubuntu is upstream for ubiquity | 20:30 |
aeoril | oh, I guess that makes it easier ... | 20:30 |
aeoril | (thanks :) | 20:30 |
darkxst | aeoril, lp:ubiquity | 20:31 |
aeoril | darkxst ok, cool - thanks :) | 20:32 |
aeoril | darkxst I guess I should do this with sbuild? | 20:33 |
aeoril | darkxst bbl - gotta run to the store | 20:36 |
nickSwe | I am running Ubuntu 14.10 on a laptop with a external HDMI monitor running on 1080 resolution. On the login screen on initial boot up the login screen is scaled incorrectly and I see some graphic issues like strange lines on the side. It appears it is scaling the login screen to whatever my laptop resolution is set to. How can I change this so that it scales properly on the external monitor? | 23:40 |
