nhainesI had one all weekend.  It was just fine.05:53

lotuspsychjenice one!05:54
lotuspsychjeso does it goe smooth in your opinion?05:54

nhainesYeah, it was perfectly smooth.  Just as good as my Nexus 5.05:54
lotuspsychjenice!05:55
nhainesI think because the screen's so small, that helps out the GPU a little.  :)05:55
lotuspsychjei hear rtm got updates to smoothness, does that update apply the Bq also?05:55
lotuspsychjeyeah well, i dont like too big screens for a phone anyways05:56
nhainesI didn't notice anything particular, but I only had the bq for three days.05:56
lotuspsychjeok nice05:56

lotuspsychjethis is a great turning point for ubuntu06:00

DonkeyHoteithe thing i hate most while hating these flash sales is the lack of US-usable hardware in them06:12

DonkeyHotei€169 is more than a moto g06:15
lotuspsychjenhaines: for a budget phone with ubuntu, bq did a good thing06:15
nhainesThat's because Google subsidizes the hardware costs along with the carriers.06:15
DonkeyHoteiwhat about that australian phone that competes with the moto g?06:16
lotuspsychjenhaines: is the snappy core also for smartphones?06:16
nhainesNo, but it will be some day.  Probably once manufacturers start producing Ubuntu-compatible phones.06:17

nhaineslotuspsychje: talk about the perfect dev environment everywhere.  :)06:18
lotuspsychjenhaines: :p06:19

dslulhello guys, regarding the porting guide, where can i find kernel/[manufacturer]/[codename]/arch/arm/configs/ cyanogenmod_[codename]_defconfig? Is it normal that phablet-dev-bootstrap does not download a kernel directory?10:33
VercHi :) Yesterday I've flashed the devel channel of Ubuntu Touch to my Nexus 4 (mako). The problem is that the sound does not work. When somebody's calling there's no sound. the same then somebody sends me a SMS. Music player does not work too. But sounds of keyboard work and sounds of dialer work too.10:35

ogra_svij, Verc you both run completely different distros on completely different devices .. unlikely that the bugs are related10:52

rpadovanioSoMoN, o/ I just wrote you an email, but if you have time probably it's better if we talk here on IRC, I've some questions12:55
mariogripHey12:56
oSoMoNrpadovani, reading your e-mail now, let’s talk12:56
RobbyFback in 2012:56
rpadovanioSoMoN, probably I'm confuse because I don't see what's your final plan on this12:56
oSoMoNrpadovani, the settings are not accessed on the C++ side12:57
oSoMoNrpadovani, they’re only needed in QML (current search engine is an exception, but it will go away)12:57
rpadovanioSoMoN, mhh, and what about others? the homepage? The restore previous session? At the moment they are all managed via C++, do you plan to move all to qml?12:58
oSoMoNrpadovani, homepage is accessed from C++ today, but it should be fairly trivial to change that so it’s only accessed in QML12:58
oSoMoNsame for restore previous session12:59
oSoMoNrpadovani, but indeed you have a point, there’s more work needed than I anticipated :)12:59
rpadovanioSoMoN, :D so you want to drop completely the Settings class in C++?13:00
oSoMoNrpadovani, yes, that’s the goal13:01
oSoMoNsorry if I didn’t make it clear earlier13:01
=== alan_g is now known as alan_g|lunch
rpadovanioSoMoN, okay, now it's a bit clearer, thanks! I'm still confused on how you will manage some things in QML, but not business of mine atm. So now I' ll work on search engine model. I think I'll do a new branch from scratch, to drop settings ui prerequiste and because well, it's totally different from actual implementation13:06
oSoMoNrpadovani, sounds like a plan!13:08
oSoMoNrpadovani, I’ll take some time this afternoon to write up a detailed plan for the whole settings implementation, as it’s getting a bit more complex than I initially thought13:08
rpadovanioSoMoN, okay, great :-) I'll update you in next days! As usual, thanks for your time and patience!13:09
oSoMoNrpadovani, and as usual, you’re very welcome :)13:09

pittiok; I'll watch out, thanks!15:00
pittijgdx: ah, so switching between 2g and 3g should trigger this?15:01
pittiis that TechnologyPreference?15:01
* pitti switches to 2G, sees 3G disappear, and nothing else come back, indeed15:01
pittiso maybe this gets triggered when 3G temporarily isn't available15:02
jgdxpitti, maybe, but if it's the same bug, then the connection should come back. Which it isn't?15:02
pittiok, it's now dead, I'll let it sit here for 30 mins15:02
jibelpitti, I've the same problem on krillin/vivid but in my case the route is gone15:12
pittijibel: yeah, I have no routes or UP interfaces left15:12
pittiand no visible attempts from NM to bring it back; "sudo service network-manager restart" fixes it15:12
VercI have been disconnected and I cannot see replies to my previous question posted here. Could someone paste it for me, please?15:14
OerHeksVerc, no replies AFAIK15:18

Verchow to allow application to work when the telephone is locked? I'd like terminal to do so16:03
dobeyVerc: applications are paused while the screen is locked. there is no way to change that.16:06
Vercbut Music Player works16:06
dobeyVerc: only special system services can continue processing while screen is locked16:06
dobeyVerc: the music player UI is paused. the music stream is played through a system service16:06
Vercis there any way to stream music from germinal through a system service?16:07
mcphaildobey: is there a link anywahere to the ubuntu touch app lifecycle: what happens during lock, loss of focus, interruption by phone call etc?16:07
dobeymcphail: there's a wiki page i think, but i don't know the url16:07
mcphaildobey: ok, i'll hunt it down. Must have missed it when looking the other day16:08
dobeyVerc: i don't know if there is a cli for streaming music/video through the system service16:08
VercI've installed Music On Console which gives better sound quality than Music Player but it stops when the screen is locked. I'd love to avoid that16:09
jgdxpitti, I'm working on wifi hotspots in USS and [1] would really help the test story. Let me know if that mr needs work. [1] https://gitorious.org/python-dbusmock/python-dbusmock/merge_requests/1116:12
dobeyVerc: there are some known issues with vivid that should be fixed soon. some issues with music player i think was in that list. i don't knwo what "music on console" is, but it would need to use the same api that music player does to play through the system service. music player itself doesn't actually play the music. the system service does. music player is just a UI which tells it what to play. playing local tracks through t16:16
Vercdobey: I cannot see your entire message :(16:17
VercMusic On Console is console music player. It uses Ncurses. The problem with sound is the same in 15.04 and 14.1016:18
Vercand with Rhythmbox on my Deksktop 14.04 LTS16:18
Vercsount quality is terrible16:18
Verc*sound16:21
dobeyfor rhythmbox you probably have the volume set to over 100% on your sound card16:21

Vercdobey: I've installed vlc on my nexus but it stops playing when the screen is locked16:39
Vercthe soung quality is far better than the native Music Player16:39
dobeyVerc: i already told you why that doesn't work16:41
Vercyes :D I just wanted to boast and grumble at the same time :D16:42
Vercand maybe you know who would know whether is there possibility to play music via different player?16:44
dobeythere are different players in the store16:46

mariogripnope, i haven't seen that before17:32
dsluli assume boot.img has a fixed size, but is it the same for every device?17:39
ogra_no, it varies based on the partition table of the device17:43

kenvandinemandel, we should include my backport of the original check_hash branch to your rtm silo19:01

kenvandineand backported that to the rtm branch19:02
kenvandineso should be good now19:02
kenvandineseb128, if you could give both of them a review19:02
kenvandinemandel, i reconfigured that rtm silo with the check_hash backport branch, and dropped the no change rebuild for settings19:31
seb128kenvandine, sure, can do that tomorrow19:42
kenvandineseb128, thanks, i went ahead and put the rtm branch in mandel's silo19:42

ChloeWolfieGirlmahll119 one thing with ubuntu 15.04 with unity 8 is how you install x-apps, I see videos with them but when I install an app it doesn't show up in unity822:19
mhall119ChloeWolfieGirl: right now it's probably a bit hacky, I'm betting willcooke has made some special .desktop files to (A) make it appear in Unity 8 and (B) wrap the executable in XMir22:20
mhall119but eventually that'll all be worked out22:20
ChloeWolfieGirlmhall119 yeah I posted asking about it in the ubuntu app developer community to ask if anyone knew, and someone sent a video which looked hacky and I was like... yeah... I'll just wait a bit longer before I test this with other apps then xD22:21
