Chaser_Hi, anybody uses kontact (kmail) ? I recently switched to kmail from thunderbird and have many problems. It doesn't apply filters, it takes ages to load the body of the email even if the messages were downloaded for offline use etc. I have to restart once in a while to keep kmail sane.00:37
Chaser_I want to know if its just me or its the state of kmail ingeneral.00:38
valorieChaser_: I hear random complaints like that, but just as many praises00:39
Chaser_valorie: Yup otherwise I love kontact except for some issues.00:46
soeeChaser_: i hope soone VDG will propose some more user friendly interface and than Kontact will worth using :)00:48

VolUTFanvalorie, I figured it out01:44
VolUTFanits working like clockwork right now01:44
VolUTFanvalorie, what my problem was...  I had duplicate entries in the new /etc/apt/sources.list file as compared to /etc/apt/sources.list.d from adding repos by terminal.  I removed the sources.list.d entries and now not having problems with the apt-get update reaching out to the remote servers.  That is the problem I was having01:58
VolUTFanAlso can someone tell me what Ign means in the output here of apt-get update http://pastebin.com/2R58kZX702:01
VolUTFanim guessing Ignore, but not sure02:01
valoriethanks for the info, VolUTFan02:04
VolUTFanno problem valorie.  Let me tell you... Woah am I suprised.  This thing flyssss now when I do an apt-get update or install.  Its the difference between a snail and a 747 jet02:07
VolUTFanit reponds like a solid state hard drive vs a 5400 rpm hard disk02:08
valoriedownloading is sloooooow02:08
* valorie was off eating pizza and drinking beer02:08
VolUTFanwell, I have an 8 MB/sec connection on the WAN from my home office, but still...  much faster locally02:08

AxedI know this Q has been asked before but lookin for a quick answer. I currently have an Ubuntu Unity install and curious what the difference is between installing kubuntu desktop vs a clean install02:12
AxedI'm typically an openSUSE user so don't know kubuntu/ubuntu differences02:13

valorieAxed: you should be able to run both if that is what you want02:24
valoriebut you'll have twice the number of apps hanging around unless you uninstall what you don't want02:25
Axedyeah i dont mind too much02:25
Axedspace is not that much of a premium02:25
Axedthanks for the reply, much appreciated02:25
Axedi was curious how different would be from a clean install but i doubt it will be that diff02:26
Axedanyone testing plasma5.2?02:27
Axedon a trusty install i guess i should have added02:27
valorieI don't think it is available for trusty02:29

donniezazensystem volume and per-app volume are managed separately in Kubuntu. I find it very weird. If I want to change volume then I have to change system volume and then app volume.16:03

melrayHi BluesKaj:17:55
melrayOk so I have a net mask of 255.255.255.224 which means that the first 3 bits are for the subnet. So there are a total of 8 subnets available. I have not been able to make the connection on why if I add the last 5 remaining bits it does not total 32 only 3117:58

VolUTFanhey if I am updating crontab with -e and I am going to add a command that normally needs sudo rights on a terminal, do I need to specify sudo like this example.  sudo rsync -achivv --delete-during --force --progress /home/useraccount /media/useraccount/Mirror_Repo/19:42
WalexVolUTFan: sounds reasonable19:52
WalexVolUTFan: note that your 'sudo' rights need  to be with no password.19:52
VolUTFanwell, if the command is being called from within the crontab, how would I know about the password?20:05

VolUTFanlordie, are you around?23:15
VolUTFanim trying to help a fella out with his 14.10 kde plasma4 and his system settings screen is completely blank.  Also, he has no search capabilities from his kicker menu.  I helped him with sudo apt-get install --reinstall kde-full, but no dice.  Also removed the .kde and rebuilt it, but caused problems, so we reverted back to the old .kde.23:16
VolUTFananyone have any ideas on this one?23:17

bprompt_white or blank? or just a desktop with no icons?23:57
VolUTFanwhite desktop.  no icons  and no panels23:57
VolUTFanwhite and only white23:57
