keithzgWell damn, the Pooch Cafe comic strip plasmoid plugin in now crashing plasma (4, on 14.04) if I just blindly hit "back" and run into a day where there isn't a strip. Considering the author of that plugin is *me*, I hope I still have my freedesktop.org login, heh.00:59

BluesKajhey soee ...still have this cpu running one core at 100% on this chat ...this is really strange that indivivdual chatrooms affect the cpu load.14:08
lordievaderBluesKaj: Does this single chatroom trigger that, or are there more chatrooms?14:08
BluesKaj#kubuntu, #kubuntu-devel, and ##linux14:09
lordievaderHmm, not really obvious what could trigger this. Perhaps time for a new irc client?14:11
BluesKajlordievader, this is konversation beta on 15.04 beta ..one expects a few problems but this is unusual 14:13
soeeBluesKaj: have no such problem on my laptop or here @ my work pc14:14
BluesKajsoee, on konversation?14:14
soeeBluesKaj: yes14:14
Sho_I've not seen it yet either sadly (Konversation maintainer here)14:15
mparilloIf I look at System Activity (ctrl esc) konversation does not even show a CPU % on my fairly modest VM. I pretty much am running 15.04 beta with defaults.14:16
BluesKajI don't see it my laptop with the same circumstances, it could be anomolous to this older pc and gpu 14:16
BluesKajon my laptop 14:16
Sho_well it must be busylooping doing something14:17
soeeBluesKaj: and if you exit from some chatrooms ?14:17
BluesKajwhen I exit from the chat's I listed above the cpu usage drops to normal, 3-10%14:18
BluesKajfor example #kubuntu-offtopic runs at about 5%14:19
soeeBluesKaj: and if you stay on #kubuntu and #kubunt-devel and exit only ##linux ? test one by one, maybe it is relatet to single chatroom ?14:21
BluesKajdoesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this effect , but all 3 chats I listed above behave in a similar manner, and any other chats so far are normal14:23
BluesKajno soee it's all 3 , already checked that out 14:24
=== rdieter_work is now known as rdieter
BluesKajinteresting, suddenly all chats are at normal 5% ave usage ...yes!16:01
lordievaderBluesKaj: What changed?16:04
BluesKajgood question lordievader, it could ahve been the small upfrade, but not sure...didn't really look at it16:08
lordievaderBluesKaj: Apt has a history log.16:08
BluesKajyeah lemme check16:09
BluesKajlordievader, looks like it stopped right after I installed pastebinit, the prvious upghrade at 8:25AM didn't do anything because the conditions were still the same up until the pastebinit install,...go figure :)16:14
BluesKajanyway my cpu is happy now :)16:15
lordievaderThat just makes things stranger, what does pastebinit have to do with irc...16:15
lordievaderThat is good though.16:15
BluesKajlordievader, starnge and probly just coincidental16:15
BluesKajok , time to go push some snow ....BBL16:16

Riddellinkscape will often add that cc-by-nc notice even when it's not true16:30
Riddelland lintian has begun to notice16:30
Riddellit can be removed no problem16:30
sitteryeah, well, even if inkscape autoadds it. the file is saying it is cc-by-nc-sa so it is ;)16:31
Riddellit's not we can reasonably remove it, I'll do it in a sec if you like16:32

alketyofel: did you get my crash on dolphin ?19:23
ronnocahh thx yofel. what would eb the reccomended (temporary) replacement? cheese?19:23
yofelpossibly, I'm not really familiar with camera apps19:24
yofelalket: saw it, but I don't really have a good idea where to go from there :/19:25
alketcould it have been nvidia from xorg edgers ?19:26
yofelmaaaaybe. It does look X related, but I forgot how to debug X errors -.-19:26
yofelah19:27

alketalso dolphin doesn't save "Add to places"19:28
alketthanks19:28
geniironnoc: I usually just stream to VLC and then use it's snapshot feature19:29
yofelalket: please file a bug about that19:29
alketbut I need someone to confirm first19:29
yofelsorry, can't really log out right now19:31
alketcan someone confirm this ?19:35
ronnocalket: yofel: Just confirmed the above bug on 15.04 re: Dolphin and Places20:13
ronnocanything manually put in Places is gone once Dolphin is closed.20:13
soeeronnoc: this is somehow random tbh20:14
soeei had it a lot but from sme time all items i put there stays where they should20:15
soeeyofel: you are running pc with nvidia card ?20:21
soeeand maybe using propriety driver ?20:21
yofelsoee: yes, with 340.7620:22
=== claydoh_ is now known as claydoh
soeeyofel: and are you using lightdm ?20:24
yofelsddm20:24
soeei wonder if lightdm willl stay as dependency for nvidia drivers20:24
yofelof nvidia-prime? Probably yes, that depends on some DM that supports it20:25
ronnocsoee: I was just confirming the bug on my system originally raised by alket20:26
BluesKajusing sddm here without any ill effects20:26
soeeah so it might be nvidia-prime :/20:28
soeeeven worse scenario20:28
=== rdieter is now known as rdieter_work
BluesKaji tried installing nvidi-331 after the 15.04 beta install and apt automatically chose the nvidia-340-driver instead20:32
soeeisn 346 defult in vivid now ?20:33
BluesKajnot default , but not for my 8400GS 20:34
BluesKajthe 340 is obviously the default for lower end cards20:35
soeeah right20:35
BluesKajand the driver manager in syssettings doesn't liat any drivers, it just stops20:37
BluesKajlist20:37
alketronnoc: thanks20:38
yofelsoee: why worse? nvidia-prime depends on lightdm | gdm | kdm. Feel free to file a bug about that, but wasn't there an issue with sddm lacking hooks?20:41
BluesKajyofel, lacking hooks? can you expalin ?20:47
yofelnot really, this was quite q while ago. IIRC there was something about prime setting scripts to run at DM start or so and there being no way to do this for sddm20:52
yofellooking right now, prime doesn't seem to do that though, so maybe they changed that20:53
* BluesKaj nods20:53
soeehmm20:55
yofelon another look, even the current dep is wrong, because /etc/init/nvidia-prime.conf only runs with lightdm20:56
yofeland there's no systemd service file :/20:57
Quintasannvidia-prime is generally crap20:58
soeewho should i call to somehow fix this nvidia-prime sddm issue20:58
_Groo_the practice files for visio dont open in flow 2.920:58
soeeQuintasan: it worked pretty nice in 14.1020:59
Quintasanon my t430 prime-select query says it's none20:59
QuintasanSo yeah, no gfx card is in use, pretty brilliant.20:59
yofelsoee: file a bug against nvidia-prime that it needs sddm support, then poke someone to milestone that for vivid so it's on the todo list 21:00
Quintasannvidia-prime has /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/90-nvidia.conf21:01
Quintasanso I think that sddm needs some sort of hook feature for that21:01

keithzgAny ideas on how to check if a URL returns a 404 error in javascript in a plasmoid? Noticed yesterday that my comics plugin for Pooch Cafe outright *crashes Plasma* these days in 4.13.3, at least on 14.04, whereas it didn't use to be a problem (I had, many years ago, just slavishly copied another plugin).22:17
keithzgAsked in #plasma when my first attempt at a solution (checking  for a 404 status by using XMLHttpRequest) failed, but haven't gotten any reply.22:19
