FrEaKmAn_is it normal that my main partition is called dev/mapper/ubuntu2--vg-root?13:02
lordievaderFrEaKmAn_: If you've let the installer do lvm and your hostname at that time was ubuntu2, then yes.13:02

ppetrakisudormrf, so can you find out what check_ide_smart is running on your behalf?17:10
maddawg2hey all... can someone tell me how to prevent the kernel from upgrading in ubuntu server20:13
maddawg2i.e. "pin" it20:13
bekksPin it.20:13
maddawg2i've found instructions to do it in the gui but not via CLI20:13
maddawg2how would i properly pin it20:13
maddawg2can i just do sudo aptitude hold <the installed kernel package>20:14
bekksapt-mark hold packagename20:14
bekksBut why do you want to not get kernel updates?20:14
maddawg2ah ok... is the output of uname -r the kernel package name?20:14
maddawg2it's for testing purposes bekks20:14
maddawg2not a production machine20:14
maddawg2we're trying to test something20:14
maddawg2on an older kernel20:14
maddawg2but it eventually upgrades so it makes the test pointless20:15
maddawg2lol20:15
maddawg2i assume the output of uname -r is the name of the kernel package20:15
bekksNo.20:15
sarnoldyou could also uninstall the metapackage that depends on the newest5 version20:15
maddawg22.6.32-71-generic-pae20:15
bekksThats a version, not a package name.20:15
maddawg2ah20:15
maddawg2how do i find out the package name?20:15
sarnolddpkg -i '*linux*' | grep '^ii'20:16
maddawg2huh?20:17
sarnoldsigh,20:17
sarnoldnot -i but -l20:18
maddawg2dpkg: error processing *linux* (--install):20:18
maddawg2 cannot access archive: No such file or directory20:18
maddawg2Errors were encountered while processing:20:18
maddawg2 *linux*20:18
maddawg2oh -l20:18
sudormrfpossible error in installer for server (not sure if it has been corrected yet): installing from USB, when it gets to the GRUB install it fails.  It looks like it is trying to install GRUB to the USB instead of the main drive of the system.  Finishing the install without grub, then using boot-repair fixes the issue.20:51
arcskyhello guys, how can i found out if my VPS provider did shutdown my server today or does my ubuntu reboot automatticaly?21:05
bekksarcsky: It does not reboot automatically.21:06
arcskybekks: possible to see what could cause the reboot?21:08
arcskydont see anything intresting in syslog21:08

Emmanuel_ChanelHello! I want to install the lastest version of dovecot. Which PPA is the best?22:25
jrwrenEmmanuel_Chanel: I don't think there is one. utopic comes with 2.2.9 which is reasonably current (imo)22:29
jrwrenEmmanuel_Chanel: if you really want 2.2.15, might be easiest to get 2.2.9 package source and update it to 2.2.15 and put to PPA yourself?22:29
Emmanuel_ChanelThx... I found https://launchpad.net/~malte.swart/+archive/ubuntu/dovecot-2.2 now.22:33
jrwrenEmmanuel_Chanel: oh cool! Thanks!22:34
