nhainesWell that took a long time to catch up to but I learned a ton.04:09
nhainesDonkeyHotei: I'm around but idling if you need me.04:09
DonkeyHoteinhaines: what exactly do you use for dual-booting your phone?04:09
nhainesDonkeyHotei: MultiROM Manager.  It scans Tassadar's server image and just gives a list of branches and revisions to install.04:10
DonkeyHoteiis that something he wrote?04:10
nhainesLooks like the signing key's out of date, maybe, so you might have to set your clock back to January, but otherwise it's perfectly automatic.04:10
nhainesI think he wrote it, yes.04:11
DonkeyHoteion a site of his?04:11
nhaineshttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tassadar.multirommgr04:14
DonkeyHoteido you have only one android rom on your phone?04:15
nhainesYes, just 5.0.1.04:21
nhainesI have the 16 GB model, so space is premium.  :)04:21
DonkeyHoteiis it cm, stock, or aosp?04:21
kurt_will v-play for qt work with ubuntu touch?04:22
kurt_http://v-play.net/04:22
nhainesDonkeyHotei: stock.04:24
DonkeyHoteiwhen you use the shell on ubuntu on it, is it typing on the phone's screen, or via something like adb?04:25
nhainesI use phablet-shell which is basically adb.04:26
nhainesBecause then I can copy/paste.  Although there's always pastebinit I guess.  :)04:26
DonkeyHoteiwhere do i get phablet-shell?04:26
nhainesI think it's from phablet-tools04:28
=== salem_ is now known as _salem
kurt_and good free or cheap 2d game engines that work with ubuntu touch04:30
nhainesBacon2D?  http://bacon2d.com/04:31
DonkeyHoteinhaines: i have phablet-tools installed, no shell04:31
nhaines'phablet-shell' should definitely have it.04:32
DonkeyHoteiE: Unable to locate package phablet-shell04:33
nhainesSorry, was distracted.  "phablet-tools" should have it.04:41
kurt_im looking into bacon now04:41
kurt_when i pick a frame work whats the difference in ubuntu-core and ubuntu-sdk04:41
DonkeyHoteinhaines: seems it has it on utopic but not on trusty04:42
kurt_14.04 and 14.10 show as ubuntu-sdk 15.04 shows as ubuntu-core04:42
DonkeyHoteiso i don't have it04:42
nhainesOh!  In that case, you'll want the PPA.  Or use adb shell for now.04:43
DonkeyHoteinhaines: which ppa is that?04:47
DonkeyHoteinvm, found it04:49
nhaines\o/04:50
DonkeyHoteiwhat forms of tethering support does ubuntu-touch provide? wifi? bluetooth? usb?04:51
nhainesDonkeyHotei: theoretically USB.04:58
DonkeyHoteionly?04:58
nhainesI believe so.  I don't think it's been addressed yet.04:58
DonkeyHoteiis that using cdc-ether, or rndis?04:59
nhainesrndis05:01
nhaines'adb shell android-gadget-service enable rndis' turns it on.05:01
nhaines'adb shell android-gadget-service enable mtp' turns it off.05:01
DonkeyHoteithat would suck for people on mac os x, because there is no rndis driver for it05:02
nhainesBut good news for people on Ubuntu.05:03
DonkeyHoteiubuntu supports cdc-ether at least as well as rndis05:03
DonkeyHoteieven if i don't upgrade my phone to a nexus 5, any upgrade would necessitate a wallet-style case with either http://www.ebay.com/itm/281269684661 or http://www.ebay.com/itm/301498902361 but i'm concerned about the latter saying battery life is only 3-5 years05:11
nhainesHm.05:16

nhainesSo someone found my interview about the phone at SCALE.  :)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrwaHGhFU68&t=1102907:53
nhainesOther than saying "Ubuntu" (rather than Android) "cooked for 3 years before we saw it", I'm fairly pleased with out it turned out.07:54

rom2toiHello, I'm trying to port ubuntu to my sony xperia z. I think i'm facing a kernel issue: i can compile flawlessly but the boot.img file generated doesn't boot (even when disabling apparmor in cmdline). How to find out what went wrong?18:10

karpatilhi guys!23:29
karpatili need some help23:29
karpatili'am trying compile the ubuntu-clock-app23:30
karpatilbut it doesn't run on my device23:31
k1l_just ask if its about ubuntu-touch. but keep in mind that this channel is quite slow on weekends23:31
nik90karpatil: hi, I am the clock app dev. Let me try to help ;)23:31
karpatil:)23:31
nik90karpatil: Which ubuntu version did you compile it on? And did you use click-buddy?23:31
popey^ this is something unique to Ubuntu23:32
popey"hello, I'm the lead developer of that, let me help"23:32
popey\o/23:32
nik90:D23:32
karpatili cloned from the laounchpad the ubuntu-clock-app/vivid-15.04 branch23:33
karpatiland i have the vivid on my device too23:33
karpatilthis is the error msg:23:33
karpatilfile:///opt/click.ubuntu.com/com.ubuntu.clock/3.3./share/qml/ubuntu-clock-app.qml:20 plugin cannot be loaded for module "DateTime": The plugin '/opt/click.ubuntu.com/com.ubuntu.clock/3.3./lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/DateTime/libdatetime.so' uses incompatible Qt library. (5.4.0) [release]23:33
nik90hmm let me try23:34
nik90karpatil: I usually let Qtc build the click package and run it on the device using chroots. I am not having any issue running it on vivid.23:38
nik90karpatil: can you try that?23:39
karpatilnik90: sure, but I have to look after23:41
nik90karpatil: I just tried now to compile the click package on the terminal, but it default to a amd64 click package and I am not sure how to change it to armhf. My workflow usually revolves around QtC.23:42
karpatilnik90: I just clicked to the "play" button in the ubuntu SDK :) . My kit settings: http://screencloud.net/v/kUE023:46
nik90karpatil: yup that's what I do as well to get Qtc to run it on the device ;)23:47
nik90karpatil: depending on whether I run it on the device or emulator, I choose armhf or i386 arch23:48
nik90karpatil: Does it work?23:49
karpatilnik90: it's a device (nexus 5)23:49
karpatilnik90: no it doesn't work23:52
nik90karpatil: let me generate the click package on my side. You can then check if it that installs and runs on your device properly23:53
karpatilsure, thanks!23:55
nik90karpatil: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xzjvs07af4a32hg/com.ubuntu.clock_3.3._armhf.click?dl=023:55
nik90karpatil: just a heads up, with vivid image 125, the clock app crashes while trying to edit an alarm. The fix for that is being reviewed currently at https://code.launchpad.net/~nik90/ubuntu-clock-app/fix-alarm-crash/+merge/252150. It should fix the crasher when it lands on the phone.23:57
