[13:12] or something of the like [13:54] Finetundra: never saw it. is there analogue somewhere? [13:55] Finetundra: in other words, like what? [13:56] cyjimmy264, what are you referring to? my question from earlier? [13:56] Finetundra: yes [13:58] cyjimmy264: I was hoping that there was some kind of desktop client to access soundcloud from. I'm unsure what you mean by analogue though. [14:16] Finetundra: I use Clementine player to play music from soundcloud. It looks like http://tinypic.com/r/10h56bm/8 [14:17] cyjimmy264: I didn't know Clementine had that function. Does it work well? [14:18] Finetundra: I have not seen any problems yet. [14:19] cyjimmy264: I'll have to have a look [14:24] cyjimmy264: that works quite well. Are you able to log into soundcloud to access your existing playlists? [14:40] Finetundra: No, unfortunately... [14:40] cyjimmy264: What a shame. At least it works. Thanks for showing me this [15:17] does kubuntu not work with nvidia cards? [15:17] yes it does, what's your issue, penguser? [15:18] more than one issue [15:18] I just tried the live media [15:18] issue #1 - when I boot up.... the screen is choppy - the text is too small or blurry - not usable [15:19] but, since I've tried Kubuntu and KDE distros in the past, I knew where to click - I tested my smartphone out and yep, it won't connect [15:19] that's issue #2 [15:20] which kubuntu version? [15:20] all [15:20] the last time I had Kubuntu installed, it was 14.04 [15:20] but, I tried 14.10 and 15.04 on live usb [15:21] and which nvidia gpu? [15:21] gtx 750 [15:23] yeah, that's the on nvidia gpu thar seems to have problems ..rather hi-end is it not ? [15:23] the one [15:24] high end? [15:24] no [15:24] try the nouveau driver thats all i could get to work on mine [15:24] Hi there. I've been having serious issues on my Kubuntu 14.10 (i386) machine. I believe it started with the most recent kernel update, but I keep getting a message that "Desktop effects have been restarted due to a crash". I cannot play fulscreen video anymore at all - it completely locks up the system... Where do I start troubleshooting this? (I've Googled the Desktop effects message, but haven't found much that's relevant to my specific issue...) [15:24] I know how to install the driver - but, if you cannot even see the screen [15:25] oh penguser cant even get to login then? [15:25] no, I'm just trying the live media [15:25] I don't want to install and I have this screen [15:30] the nouveau driver is default with all nvidia gpus after first installation, then one can choose from the recommended drivers in driver manager to install a higher performance driver , in 14.04 it's the 331, in 14.10 and 15.04 it's the 340 as a miniimum [15:31] so, how do I know whether my screen will be usable after an install? [15:31] penguser, check your md5sum on your kubuntu iso, just to make sure the image isn't corrupted [15:31] I could not read the screen [15:32] okay, I'll check that next [15:32] penguser, but I do know that the 759 series seems to have a problem with some kubuntu versions [15:32] I can't recall the last time I had a faulty md5sum, though [15:33] err 750 [15:33] someone should ask the developers to include a 'safe graphics' version like some distros do [15:34] I had to do that on a couple of distros that offer it [15:34] it worked - I was able to boot up at least....even though the resolution was not native [15:34] the nouveau is probly as close to safe grapphics you can get , yet it's still very usable on most nvidia gpus [15:35] that's a free driver that they have no support for [15:35] and obviously is not working right now [15:36] not on newer hardware, at least [15:36] there's even newer cards than this one out there [15:37] I wanted this card since it's a low power , modern card... [15:42] the only way to really know if the card will work is to install the OS then install the nvidia-340 driver [15:43] yeah [15:43] but, I know my phone won't work [15:43] so too many problems is a deal breaker [15:43] I was just hoping it's a known problem/issue with a fix/solution [15:47] * BluesKaj shugs [15:50] penguser: Have you tried the nomodeset kernel option? === Malsasa_ is now known as Malsasa === addy is now known as drawkward_ === addy is now known as drawkward === addy is now known as drawkward === David1977 is now known as Guest60087 [18:26] hello [18:27] I have a question: If I have to install Kubuntu NOW, is better to install 14.10 or 14.04?
