[14:50] <|Ubik|> ssh is overrated, use telnet instead :) === |Ubik| is now known as Ubik === Ubik is now known as |Ubik| [15:05] telnet, eh? [15:05] manually encrypt everything and copy/paste? [19:00] xTEMPLARx: Double rot13 all the way! [19:49] Afternoon. [19:51] Howdy. [20:05] How's it going? [20:05] This room seems quiet. :) [20:07] It is a bit, but people chat every so often. [20:07] Not too shabby, got a nice cup o' coffee. [20:28] I haven't been around in a while. My old nick was fastforward. I've been running IRC lately and thought I'd pop back in. [20:28] Oh hey, I remember that nick, sort of! [20:31] :) I wasn't around very often. [20:31] Well I have a terrible memory to boot. wrst will show up sometime I'm sure. [20:31] So, what're ye running nowdays? [20:32] hey bwmaker [20:33] Unit193: your wish is my command :) [20:33] Figured it was a person, you like talking to people! :P [20:33] ha ha [20:33] don't know if I really like talking with people [20:33] maybe more than you Unit193? [20:34] Hey! I already saw and was social this week, what more did you want?! [20:34] :P [20:34] I'm using Ubuntu MATE 14.04 today. [20:35] Unit193: good job [20:35] bwmaker: I hear that is an excellent distro [20:36] It'll be official with Vivid. [20:36] yes [20:36] sounds like it will be what xubuntu used to be [20:36] * wrst ducks from Unit193's punch after that [20:37] Ugly and hardly usable? :----D [20:37] I like it, for the most part. My home desktop is running Mint 17.1. I wanted to stop distro hopping on it and leave it alone. Mint runs great on it. I've got the XPS 13 Sputnik laptop, so I wanted to be as close to Ubuntu as possible. I know they're not entirely different, but just felt better about it being Ubuntu. [20:44] stop distro hopping? why would anyone want to do that? :) [20:45] Because it's so much effort to correct everything the distro does wrong! :P [20:45] exactly Unit193 that's why I run arch :P [20:46] It'd take too long to setup correctly. :P [20:47] Unit193: by the time you get all the stuff stripped I can have my ideal setup done [20:47] and I don't have to redo it every 6 months [20:47] unless I get bored with it like I did a few weeks ago and start from new for the fun of it [20:48] I don't have to redo it, and I haven't reinstalled for a while except in VM. You know you can install a minimal set right? That was one of my contributions to Xubuntu. ;) [20:48] I have done the web install [20:49] but then a meta package generally pulls int all sorts of junk I don't want [20:49] The every months thing is why I switched to Mint 17, it's all based on 14.04 and new packages, updates, etc will get back ported until 16.04. No upgrading! :) [21:09] oh the day I get crazy busy at work, this place explodes in conversation [21:09] I see how it is [21:11] :D [21:11] xTEMPLARx: Come on! Join in on the distro conversation! Then we move on to editors, and browsers next! ;) [21:11] Woo, editors! :) [21:13] I did try openSuse and Fedora 21 for a month or so each. [21:19] Came back to Ubuntu/Mint. Just can't get away from the ease and number of deb packages. [21:19] Mint. :3 [21:20] And yeah, I'd be stuck with Debian based too. Pretty much only one outside of that I would consider is Arch or Arch based. [21:33] Oh gosh, another Alien movie? [23:04] So, just in case I didn't kill the channel dead enough, http://explosm.net/show/episode/141/step-on-a-crack :3
