manchickenI'm thinking of purging that package, but will that revert back to the already-installed 3.18.0-13 or will it leave me with no kernel image?10:43

yofelmah12:52

sitter....12:53
yofelwhy the data files in libcantorlibs6 ?12:53
sitteryofel: it also contains an unversioned plugin, so no point in moving the data elsewhere as the plugin would conflict anyway12:54
yofelmeh, true12:54
sitterother option would be to split the plugin out and move the data out as well12:58
sitterpersonally I don't see the benefit in that, in fact I'd put all of cantor in one package and have one -dev and one -dbg and be done with it12:59
sitterthe packaging is awkwardly blown up with no real benefit other than not having to install all possibly backend thingums12:59
yofelI think that's the point really12:59
sittertechnically it also has a kpart13:00
sitterso that would have to be split as well13:00
sitteroh and the assitants needs splitting as well xd13:01
debfxsplit all the things!13:03
sitterwhat we could do is cantor -> kpart5-cantor -> libcantorlibs -> cantor-panels & cantor-assistants & libcantrolibs-data & cantor-backend-*13:04
sitterthis would seem slightly less awkward if the lib wasn't glued into the app source for no good reason13:04

Riddellit is a daily image, we make them new each day16:06
Riddellit doesn't get labelled beta until we release it, that's why we need people to test it so we can label it16:06

Riddellhi ximion, have you seen the gsoc project I have to add install to various kde apps?16:10
RiddellBluesKaj: a zsync might have been faster16:11
ximionRiddell: the "package install for 3rd party applications " one?16:25
Riddellximion: yeah16:25
ximionRiddell: I am currently working with the Debian ftpmasters to get a patch for AppStream into dak (it's quite a lot of code to review, and might even need to be run on a separate machine since some people don't like image processing being done on a critical machine)16:28
ximionthe basic building block for DEP-11 support (the Debian spec for AppStream) is at https://github.com/ximion/dep1116:29
ximionI'll likely create a standalone app to generate the data without the use of dak16:29
ximiontheoretically, the data could then be shipped in a simple .deb package, instead of integrating AppStream into Launchpad (which would be the proper way to do things, but will likely also take more time)16:30
ximionon Tanglu, we already ship a package for AppStream support as technical preview: http://packages.tanglu.org/source/bartholomea-updates/appstream-data16:31
Riddellximion: how does that package work?16:32
ximionRiddell: it ships the DEP-11 YAML and icons, which are then consumed by appstream-index or hughsie's appstream-glib library16:33
ximion(see the /usr/share/app-info/yaml folder in the package)16:33
ximionthe "normal way" to get that data would be APT downloading it from the archive directly, but that feature needs dak/Soyuz integration on Debian/Ubuntu, so shipping it as .deb package is easier16:35
ximion(for now)16:35
soeeRiddell: if in live session desktop is not localized i should mark test as failed ? and this bug is enough to add 1306866 ?16:39

Riddellahoneybun: um do you have a passport?20:04
ahoneybunRiddell: need to get one20:05
ahoneybun*will get it20:05
ahoneybunRiddell: ^20:06
Riddellahoneybun: best start pronto, those things can be very beurocratic :)20:07
sgclarkahoneybun: eek yes they can take some time20:07
yofelsoee_: did you ever had plasma freeze on you on first boot after install? Happened to me twice already..20:07
soee_yofel: nope20:08
ahoneybunsgclark: Riddell next paycheck20:08
soee_but Vb uses half of my laptop resources, 4 cores, 4GB ram etc20:08
prthRiddell, i read your comment & i agree. I had thought to fix the bugs while porting20:08
soee_so maybe it prevents from freezing20:09
prthRiddell, so do you recommend to focus on porting ui files to QML during summer or should i  focus on adding features?20:09
yofelI only gave it 1.2G, maybe that's it20:09
yofelit actually seems to be doing something, just very _very_ slow20:09
soee_yofel: but twice i had to restart my  laptop when my system stoped to response during installation in VB :)20:09
yofelhaven't seen that in a while, but I know what you mean20:10
Riddellprth: fixing bugs and ensuring feature parity with the gtk frontend should be first, qml well that needs a reason why first :)20:10
prthRiddell, yeah i lean towards that too. i thought it would be cool to use QML animations instead of WebView for slides but features like upgrade Kubuntu would be more useful to the users20:12
yofelhm, now plasma reacts again, and top shows plasmashell using 70% cpu doing... something (I have a notification with an unlabled progressbar...)20:13
Riddellprth: the ubiquity UI is quite shiny already, if you want to make a shiny UI the release-upgrade tool is in need of one20:13
soee_yofel: if you find few minutes, please do OEM test and see if you can confirm the bug i have reported20:14
Riddellyofel: baloo breakage on upgrade, I think I'll add a baloo transitional package that depends on baloo-kf520:14
yofelRiddell: if you do that you might want to drop the provides: - I think that's where our troubles come from in the first place20:15
Riddellyes I'll do that20:16
ahoneybunnext paycheck I'm getting the passport20:16
prthRiddell, thanks :). I'll focus on the features qt frontend is lacking20:16
yofelsoee_: I'll do that in a moment20:16
yofelnow to pass auto-resize...20:16
soee_nie20:17
soee_nice20:17

mparilloRiddell: D'oh. I simply pasted from his blog post. And when you write 'nobody will notice' you noticed. As we used to say in New York, "What am I, chopped liver?" Meaning: "What? I do not count?"21:05
Riddellmparillo: only because he pointed it out to me :)21:05

KDDAanyone know how to fix the problem with MySQL not starting and affecting Akonadi and Kontact?21:46
yofelKDDA: a full error log would really help to narrow the error down21:48
yofelmine turned out to be lp 143582321:48
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1435823 in mysql-5.6 (Ubuntu) "Disappearing /var/run/mysqld causes mysqld to fail after reboot" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/143582321:48

soee_hmm22:08
yofelit's fixed upstream FWIW22:08
Riddellyeah probably just needs a new snapshot taken22:09
yofelwell, a release would be better. Is there a reason why there isn't one?22:09
Riddellcos a plasma dev grumped that it overlapped with the accounts kcm22:10
Riddellwhich has gone in 5.322:10
yofelah22:10
yofelsoee_: anyway, kcmshell5 user_manager works fine if you need it22:11
Riddellwe might want a snapshot of Touchpad kcm too22:11
Riddellgreat work testing yofel, soee_, mparillo :)22:11

yofelvalorie: right, so 'sudo systemctl enable sddm' should fix it23:39
valorieexcellent23:39
yofelRiddell: why does sddm still conflict with getty@tty1.service ?23:39
mparillohmm, I have not had to systemctl start sddm on either Beta2 RCs.23:39
valorieso somehow this was fixed, strange23:40
