[08:43] ok so something broke pptp vpn in network manager about 2 or 3 days ago [08:44] ive been waiting on an update to fix it .. just looked for an acknowledgement of the issue in launchpad.. nothing yet [08:45] im going to assume that its networkmanager thats broken.. i dont think its systemd related.. because it was working with systemd [08:45] then why assume it's network manager [08:45] as it was also working with network manager [08:45] and now it's not [08:45] so that doesn't really seem logical [08:45] thats what im trying to figure out.. it was working.. installed some updates.. now not working [08:46] so again why assume it is / is not a package [08:46] so im trying to figure out which update broke it [08:46] have you logged a bug against it ? [08:46] have you got other people to verify/test [08:47] not yet no.. since i dont know which update broke it.. and therefore what was responsible [08:47] not sure what you want the channel to do then ? [08:49] thats all i've got.. i've tried creating a new vpn connection and same thing [08:49] thats probably why i assumed it was network manager [08:50] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-vpnc/+bug/1297849 :D [08:51] Launchpad bug 1297849 in network-manager-vpnc (Ubuntu) "Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files" [High,Triaged] [08:52] that doesn't look like the same bug [08:56] ok cool if i log in as a different user.. it works [08:57] so now i can at least assume that something in my users settings are screwed === rbasak_ is now known as rbasak [11:22] good morning [11:26] i still cant figure out how to reset networkmanager settings for a specific user [11:26] the documentation sucks [11:27] maybe the keyring is broken for my user.. i dont know [11:28] good morning :P [11:56] 'Morning folks [12:52] hmm.. dig deeper.. vpn works in unity, but not gnome-flashback [12:53] so its something gnome-session related [12:57] probly network manager [14:48] Hello Kubuntu folks, what's the new Display Manager on Vivid? [14:51] After an upgrade the DM doen't start anymore [14:52] should be still lightdm [14:52] micmord: possibly sddm ? [14:53] k1l: really "LANG=C apt-cache policy lightdm --> Installed: (none)" [14:54] does it use ssdm? [14:55] sddm [14:56] yes, sorry typo [15:01] micmord, sudo systemctl enable sddm [15:02] http://jriddell.org/2015/03/18/kubuntu-15-04-heating-up/ [15:07] BluesKaj, k1l: thank you very much [15:07] It works again! [15:08] yw, micmord [15:34] What about last i18n packages? [15:34] bug #1436395 [15:34] bug 1436395 in kde-l10n-it (Ubuntu) "overwrite plasma_applet_org.kde.ktp-presence.mo" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1436395 [20:41] hello. i have permission issues with sound and graphics on vivid / systemd. alsamixer (and audio players) don't have permission to anything in /dev/snd/, and glxinfo (and other opengl applications) don't have permission to anything in /dev/dri/. [20:41] i am using a self compiled xorg stack and no pulseaudio [20:41] i *am* in the audio and video groups [20:42] from what ls displays, i should have permission through those groups. even clearing extended attributes (there was a + at the end of the permissions as displayed by ls -l) doesn't help. [20:43] on /dev/snd/* and /dev/dri/* that is [20:43] any ideas? [20:43] how does one even debug why permission to something was denied if it's not acls and not posix permissions? [20:49] what the... chmod ugo+rwx /dev/snd/* makes (at least) alsamixer work, chmod o-rwx makes it fail again. but i'm in the audio group! [20:49] since two reboots ago or so, so it's not that my new membership hasn't propagated. [20:50] what the hell is going on? === soee_ is now known as soee
