[16:38] What would make one choose fedora over cent, or vice versa [16:43] Fedora is actually updated, CentOS is more solid for servers. [16:45] So generally better for desktop use then [16:46] Makes sense [16:52] howdy xTEMPLARx, Unit193 [16:53] Heya wrst [16:53] xTEMPLARx: just use arch its no trouble that way [16:54] Not a fan of arch thus far, but mostly due to impatience [16:54] set it and forget it :) [16:54] but the setting it takes a bit [16:55] Howdy. [16:55] wrst: Arch on the server? :P [16:55] Agreed WRST [16:56] no Unit193, not on a server [16:57] Knew someone that did. [16:57] Why not? [16:59] latest and greatest isn't always the best idea on a server is it? [17:00] If you're constantly updating that's usually not a good idea [17:00] Set it and forget it right? [17:00] other than the updating [17:00] :) [17:01] Now see [17:01] It's like getting married [17:01] I wouldn't want to have an arch box then come back in 6 months and update it [17:01] it would likely go up in smoke, but update it a couple times a week no issue [17:01] All the extra work nobody warned you about when you were staring longingly into your bride's eyes [17:02] I'm sliw typing on iPhone [17:02] Slow too [17:02] I'd use speech recognition to type but I'm at Krystal's [17:02] ha ha [17:04] I wouldn't want to wait 6 months on any server, at the rate of openssl. [17:04] that's a good point [17:04] but you know what I mean [17:06] Yeeep. [17:06] [13:01] Codmadnesspro: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Does-Mayonnaise-Last-as-a-Thermal-Compound/1793 [17:06] Also, I'm unmarried. [17:06] And it's not even April yet [17:09] Bak to work with me [17:09] Back too [18:01] I tried Arch once. Once being the keyword there. I did it just to say that I did it. [18:01] I'm finding Fedora very enjoyable. [18:07] i used to be a redhat fanboy after I got done with slackware [18:07] was using redhat when they branched off to fedora [18:07] used fedora for a little while after that and kinda bailed on it for a little while in general [18:07] came back full force when ubuntu caught my eye [18:08] I still have (somewhere) some old redhat install cds [18:08] used to still have my old slackware floppies, but I think they're gone now lol [18:11] :) I didn't know about Linux until 2009. Pretty sure 8.10 was my first Linux experience. I do probably still have some Windows 3.11 floppies, though. [18:11] *Ubuntu 8.10 [18:19] :D good old 3.11. My first solitaire emulator. [18:25] Ha! [18:26] My mom finally switched to a MacBook Pro. She loves it and I'm happy she's off Windows. Next time, she might be ready for Gnome. [18:40] i took my dad straight from windows xp to ubuntu 7 or so. he never could tell the diff [18:41] I actually had a co-worker do that to his wife recently, until she tried installing an EXE. [18:43] my dad was installing too many EXEs, if you catch my meaning. he didn't know any better and assumed if someone sent him an email it MUST have been for him [18:43] so firefox on ubuntu 7 or so and he's in good shape [18:44] he HAS been able to break it a few times [18:45] :) [18:45] Does he use the software center at all? [18:46] but by break it, I mean he's moved his task bars to all the wrong places, and adds new ones where none should be [18:46] he doesn't use the software center [18:46] to him, the browser is his computer [18:46] Yeah. My dad got an ipad and just uses it all the time. He got a smart tv, too, so he talks to it some. [18:47] It's a fascinating interaction. It doesn't understand him when he says "Nascar". "D [18:47] :D [18:49] lol [22:47] Intense crowd. [23:11] Howdy. === Grammar is now known as eon === eon is now known as qat === qat is now known as qoose === qoose is now known as wedj
