sitterRiddell: thing is I don't even know where the packaging is hiding so I gave up fixing that :O10:47
Riddellsitter: it's just in a UDD branch which is merged from upstream branch for added complexity10:50
sittermh, but the branch I found didn't have your changes and no merge history altogether10:51
sittercantor still needs fixing :@10:52
Riddellwhat's wrong with cantor? weren't you separating the library there?10:53
sitteryeah but no one then answered me when I asked whether we should go with the partial splittering or do a full blow mental split-everything move10:53
Riddellsitter: I didn't get what the problem was that it needed splitting at all for?10:55
sitterRiddell: it didn't necessarily ... we could just make a cantor-dev10:55
Riddellsitter: what's that needed for? does something build-dep on it?10:56
sitterRiddell: it's needed because upstream says it is a public lib10:57
sitterRiddell: http://markmail.org/thread/3rv4ucwqxbloz6b710:58
BluesKaj'Morning all11:00
Riddellsitter: ok upstream hopes it'll be used maybe and we're just holding them back11:00
Riddellsitter: remind me again what the difference between partial split and full blown split is?11:01
=== yofel changed the topic of #kubuntu-devel to: Kubuntu - 10 years of friendlyness | https://trello.com/kubuntu | http://qa.kubuntu.co.uk/ | Crash tracker : http://goo.gl/Cdynad | Beta 2 Testing : http://goo.gl/qRrtc8
yofeliso tracker link added11:02
yofelsitter: go with partial unless you think the full one is worth your work11:04
sitterRiddell: full blown cantor -> kpart5-cantor -> libcantorlibs -> cantor-panels & cantor-assistants & libcantrolibs-data & cantor-backend-*11:04
sitterpartial is what I proposed11:04
sitterbut to help upstream we could simply leave everything as it is and create a cantor-dev package11:05
sitter^ since only third parties would potentially use it at this point isolating the library doesn't add real value other than reducing the amount of crap a third party application would pull in and enable a third party to do lib transitioning11:06
sitterlatter would be hard anyway though since cantor libs, panelplugins, assistantplugins and backends are somewhat interdependent at runtime11:07
sitterso perhaps we should go with a simple cantor-dev package and revisit the issue when/if an application in the archive wants to use the lib11:08
Riddellsitter: yeah do that11:09

mparilloWhen installing the new 32-bit ISO to a VM this morning, at the end, I get a button to click for re-boot now. I think it used to simply exit the installer to a text panel saying remove your CD and hit enter. Anyway, when I cick the exit button, the screen goes blank and nothing happens. For regular full disk install, I simply powered off the VM and when I restarted it, Vivid came up great. I will try the same with 12:45
mparilloencrypted LVM. It might take an hour or so before I can try on bare metal.12:45
yofelthat it did nothing on exit isn't good. That the eject disk dialog is missing is a known issue12:46

sitterthere's only one screen13:15
sitteryofel: I think your suggestion would make it a very reasonable default though13:15
yofelwe always had that "show desktop" button, that way we at least have a replacement13:16

sittermgraesslin: right now the pager widget is added by default but there is only one virtual workspace rendering it pretty useless. yofel suggested that maybe it could simply behave like the show-desktop widget (i.e. raise the desktop containment) thus comibining the usefulness of both13:18
sittermgraesslin: .3 then13:18

yofelthat shouldn't be the only thing it prints...16:39
KDDAin /usr/sbin/mysqld16:39
KDDAbut why16:39
kfunkmaelcum: my problem is that SDDM doesn't start up when I boot 15.04 in systemd mode -- that issues just popped up a week ago or so.16:41
kfunkI think before we didn't use systemd by default, but I could be wrong16:42
kfunkcan't start SDDM manually after getting to a VT either16:42
maelcumkfunk: have you checked the permissions on /dev/dri?16:42

kfunkI'll do next time I reboot16:43
maelcumfwiw sddm does start here, but if i don't change the permissions on /dev/dri* i get a kwin without 3d acceleration.16:43

ovidiu-florinand that's the exact file20:52
tuv0kis there a bug filed, a workaround?20:52
ovidiu-florinthat's our source for the theme20:52
KDDAtuv0k: would you private message me?20:52

Riddellahoneybun: nope20:56
KDDAovidiu-florin: should work!  Are you using a child theme or mod'ing the main theme files?20:58
KDDAtuv0k: can you try this command please "kcmshell4 kcm_akonadi"20:58
ahoneybunRiddell: I got one script to work but it shows nothing21:00
tuv0kKDDA: excellent! Akonadi failed, but I changed database backend to sqlite, and then akonadi statred and kmail resumes functionig,21:01
tuv0kthx!21:01
ovidiu-florinsoee: is 16 too big? take a look21:01

KDDAtuv0k: leave it with MySQL for a sec21:02
soeeovidiu-florin: no! i would say you are free to use even 18 :D21:02

KDDAtuv0k: if you put AppArmour into complain mode using this command "sudo aa-complain mysqld"21:03
soeeovidiu-florin: h2 needs bigger font size21:03
KDDAtuv0k: does it start working?21:03
soeehow is it possible that h2 has smaller size than h3 :O21:04
KDDAsoee: CSS ;)21:04
tuv0kwell, when I switched back yo mysql and restarted akondai, everything is normal again21:04
KDDAtuv0k: strange21:04
tuv0ki know21:04
KDDAI think its an AppArmour issue21:05
KDDAbut I have tried so many things over this past few days, Im not sure what the real fix was!21:05
tuv0kthankful for your assistence in getting kmail back:)21:07
tuv0kbbl21:07
soeeovidiu-florin: header sizes etc. worth checking http://typecast.com/blog/a-more-modern-scale-for-web-typography21:09
KDDAtuv0k: SQLite will be very slow if you have large mailboxes21:10
soeeovidiu-florin: also why not use Oxygen font for headers ? :)21:10
ahoneybunRiddell: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/10686170/21:12
ovidiu-florinsoee: care to get involved?21:12
soeeovidiu-florin: sure21:12
ovidiu-florinwhat do you need?21:13
soeeovidiu-florin: how do you work on teh website now ? 21:13
soeefor styles using sass/less ?21:13
soeecompiling them on some remote ?21:13
ovidiu-florinI have a plugin that allows me to alter the styles after the theme is applied.21:14
ovidiu-florinI try to avoid having to modify source code of the theme or WP21:14
soeefrom Wp backend ?21:14
ovidiu-florinbut I do it when necessary21:14
ovidiu-florinbut only under git21:14
ovidiu-florinsoee: compiling? what compilation?21:14
soeeyes that would be good to have some git acccess21:14
soeeovidiu-florin: sass/less files :)21:15
__danmac__I was just tinkering with woff files and suchlike only yesterday, converting font from kubuntu and putting on the site would be a cool touch haha :)21:16
ovidiu-florinthis is the first I hear of sass/less21:16
ovidiu-florinsoee: ^21:16
__danmac__but i'm too busy trying to make my geforce play ball with 15.04 atm :/21:16
ovidiu-florinsoee: I'm not a web developer, I have some experiece, but this is not really my area of expertiese21:16
soeeovidiu-florin: they allow you to easier maintain styles, you can have file with variables that are used co generate style, you can use mixins, extend classess etc.21:17
soeeovidiu-florin: do you use git atm ?21:19
ovidiu-florinsoee: I'm trying to KIS21:19
ovidiu-florinI use git to track the ghanges I've made to the WP theme21:19
soeekis ?21:20
ovidiu-florinKeep It Simple21:20
KDDAovidiu-florin: No to your not using a child theme, or No to your not modifying the main theme?21:20
soeeovidiu-florin: less/sass is all about easier maintenance ant shorten modificaton time 21:21
ovidiu-florinI'm not using a child theme21:21
ovidiu-florinI'm modifing the theme I use only if I absolutley have to21:21
KDDAovidiu-florin: any reason for that?21:21
ovidiu-florinKDDA: Bad previous experience with that functionality21:21
KDDAovidiu-florin: may I ask what/why?21:22
ovidiu-florinsure21:23
ovidiu-florinI've tried to use that, but I've found that most themes don't suport that21:23
ovidiu-florinor they support it very badly21:23
ovidiu-florinand everything breaks when using the child theme21:23
KDDAusually its the reverse :/21:24
ovidiu-florinmaybe I just got my share of bad luck21:24
ovidiu-florinand picked the bad ones21:24
KDDAif the main theme is updated for some reason, it overwrites the files you changed and breaks it21:25
ovidiu-florinthat's why I keep it unde git21:26
ovidiu-florinI hope it doesn't delete my .git21:26
ovidiu-florin:-s21:26
ovidiu-florinKDDA soee it seems to me you have some experience with WordPress and web development, why didn't you speak sooner?21:27
ovidiu-florinwe could have done so much more21:27
KDDAovidiu-florin: have my fingers in too many pies at the moment!21:28
ovidiu-florinKDDA: most of us do21:28
soeeovidiu-florin: i do not work with wordpress, but i am a webdeveloper :) i said it to the student that have been working on the website before21:29
ovidiu-florinKDDA soee I try to keep track of everything in trello, please keep an eye on that21:29
ovidiu-florinsoee: bukai ?21:29
soeeovidiu-florin: yes21:30
KDDAovidiu-florin: dont want to step on anyones toes, for me personally I use child themes as I can override what I need to and if the main theme gets an update it all still works21:30
__danmac__I'm more back-end stuff and I don't touch PHP or WordPress on general principle but I do web-dev and happy to help21:30
__danmac__maybe can trade you for a solution to get my nvidia working on 15.04 :P21:30
ovidiu-florinKDDA: I know21:30
ovidiu-florincurrently my changes are minor21:30
KDDA__danmac__ : what model?21:31
__danmac__KDDA: it's a geforce 7900GTX ... well it's a Quadro FX 2500M but basically a rebadged 7900GTX21:31
__danmac__nouveau drivers exhibit corruption, managed to get it installed even though i couldn't see any dialog box text the buttons appeared when i scrolled over them21:32
KDDAis your 15.04 install fresh or upgrade?21:32
ahoneybunyofel: ping21:32
__danmac__after install, it had installed the nvidia proprietary 304 drivers but kwin won't enable compositing - the install is about 2 hours old from today's daily21:33
ovidiu-florinKDDA soee are you available this weekend to help me?21:34
__danmac__I don't mean to fill this place with tech support blabber though, I'm in #kubuntu also if you feel a change of venue is appropriate21:34
__danmac__appreciate any help as I have tried the more obvious stuff and getting nowhere :(21:34
KDDAwell 15.04 is still in dev :)21:35
soeeovidiu-florin: im at home tomorrow and saturday, sunday i have flight to athens so i wont be afavilable till wednesday21:35
__danmac__yeah I only just got the laptop but tried a 14.04.1 live USB I had lying around, and that seems to have the same problem with nouveau ... not sure how the proprietary drivers fare as I only fired it up for a minute on live usb21:36
KDDAwhat happens when you boot with proprietary drivers installed?21:37
KDDAdoes it flash the NVidia splash screen?21:38
ovidiu-florinKDDA soee this saturday, can we have a video chat at 14 UTC+2 ?21:38
__danmac__no I don't see the nvidia splash screen21:39
soeeovidiu-florin: you need to catch me first here, if ill be online, sure21:39
tuv0kKDDA: thanks for the headsup. swithcing back to mysql because I have gmail boxes21:39
ovidiu-florinsoee: that's not very helpful21:39

__danmac__no the corruption only occurs with nouveau21:40
ovidiu-florinKDDA soee then can you leave us a list of your suggestions somewhere? Like a KDE note or another etherpad link?21:41
ovidiu-florinand I'll do my best with all of them21:41
ovidiu-florinKDDA soee can you?21:42
__danmac__I tried setting O2 and doing kwin_x11 --replace which gave me a page of errors I can pastebin once it boots up again (just trying 304-updates now, hung at black screen after login)21:42
soeeovidiu-florin: yes, i will try to write down my suggestions tomorrow21:42
__danmac__but I don't mean to drag you guys into this on a dev channel, sorry21:42
__danmac__im trying to google but the results are thin on the ground as you would expect since not many people are using KDE 5 yet21:43
KDDA__danmac__  is your sddm enabled on boot?21:44
ovidiu-florinsoee: thank you21:45
__danmac__sorry KDDA I'm having trouble logging in to it now, it's as default install I haven't messed with sddm or any of that, just had to power cycle it even reisub didnt help :/21:46
__danmac__I just got the thing so I will have a tinker with it ... maybe try with 14.04 first and see how I get on with that21:47
KDDA__danmac__ : Can I private message you?21:48
