lordievaderGood afternoon.15:30
MoonUnit`afternoon15:32
jarnosI made a bootable disk of beta2 by usb-creator-gtk, but it won't boot.18:15
jarnosdesktop-amd6418:16
jarnosIt says "Missing parameter in configuration file. Keyword: path"18:19
jarnosFollowing repeatively by "gfxboot.c32: not q COM32R image"18:21
jarnos"boot:"18:21
jarnos^^ q -> a18:21
lordievaderjarnos: Try unetbootin.18:22
MoonUnit`or you could try to copy it with dd if you know the usb /dev.18:23
jarnoslordievader, does it give me option to choose keyboard layout and language before running ubuntu from the USB?18:24
lordievaderjarnos: Err, during the install you will be asked for the keyboard layout.18:25
jarnoslordievader, I need that for live session, too.18:25
jarnosMoonUnit`, yes, but you can not write other files to the USB then?18:28
MoonUnit`no, not with dd.18:32
furkanhey, any tips for upgrading to 15.04 beta? i'm running 14.04 now and ran do-release-upgrade -d19:27
furkanbut it's trying to upgrade me to utopic19:27
lordievaderfurkan: Trusty cannot upgrade to Vivid in one go.19:28
furkanlordievader: oh i see, thanks, so i should let it upgrade to utopic first i guess?19:28
lordievaderfurkan: Yes.19:31
smallfoot-Has anyone tried running bootchart with systemd?20:29
smallfoot-It seems Vivid boots slow20:29
smallfoot-it seems stalled just waiting20:29
lordievadersmallfoot-: 'systemd-analyse blame' might help you with that.20:32
smallfoot-I see, thanks20:33
smallfoot-systemd-analyse: command not found20:34
smallfoot-its analyze with z20:34
lordievaderThat's the one ;)20:35
smallfoot-but it just sorts them by which take longest time20:35
elfyit will20:35
smallfoot-it doesn't tell anything about parallel jobs like asynchronous operations20:35
elfyafaik bootchart won't work20:35
smallfoot-I see :(20:36
lordievadersmallfoot-: Let systemd graph it for you ;)20:36
lordievadersmallfoot-: systemd-analyze plot > boot.svg20:37
elfyoooh20:37
elfythanks lordievader :D20:37
lordievaderMan pages are useful.20:37
smallfoot-http://paste.ubuntu.com/10691314/20:38
smallfoot-Anything strange with this log?20:38
smallfoot-lordievader, wow, thats sweet!20:38
smallfoot-its true what they say, systemd really is a kitchensink lol20:40
lordievaderThat udev thing is taking long...20:40
smallfoot-I see20:41
smallfoot-is your systemd-udev-settle.service faster/shorter than mine?20:41
TheNumbit depends on the amount of devices you have20:42
TheNumbit has to enumerate them all ;p20:42
TheNumbblock devices that is20:42
lordievaderThen mine is probably faster. Seeing as it doesn't have any :P20:42
smallfoot-I see20:43
smallfoot-lordievader, you don't have any? really? i thought everyone had one20:43
smallfoot-TheNumb, I have 2 ssd, 1 hdd20:43
lordievaderIt is not even mentioned.20:43
smallfoot-TheNumb, does it matter how many partitions too?20:43
lordievaderHowever mine isn't very up to date.20:43
rwwthe udev device settler is for things like LVM, encrypted block devices, etc.20:43
lordievadersmallfoot-: It is a netboot.20:43
smallfoot-I see20:43
smallfoot-lordievader, oh cool!20:44
elfylordievader: yea for sure - but who bothers with man pages :p20:44
rwwif you don't use any of that, it shouldn't be taking much time20:44
smallfoot-rww, I don't use LVM or encryption20:44
rww(I assume, based on how other distros do it)20:44
lordievaderelfy: I read a quote somewhere that the fancy things you read on blogs all, at some point, originate from a man page ;)20:44
elfyheh - for sure :)20:44
rwwalso, systemd-analyze blame falls down when you're analyzing boot time, because it doesn't show that some things run in parallel20:45
elfylordievader: mmm - let's make this readable by hooman :)20:45
rwwperhaps you want systemd-analyze dot | dot -Tsvg > systemd.svg20:45
elfycritical chain helps a bit more in that case than blame20:45
rwwi think that's the right command for bootchart anyway, i forget20:46
rwwoh, huh, didn't know about critical-chain20:46
elfyit certainly shows the same thing holding up things here as that bootchart20:46
smallfoot-rww, systemd-analyze plot > boot.svg # does it20:46
rwwplot, there we go20:46
rwwyeah, dot is for dependencies, derp20:47
elfyyepcritical chain just shows me the same as the plot does - in regard to what's possibly the hold up20:47
elfyhttp://paste.ubuntu.com/10691385/20:48
elfynetwork-online.target hangs about then finally libvirt-bin.service finishes off in 243ms20:48
elfyat least that's how I read it20:49
elfyand I think I've seen bug report re network.online recently20:49
smallfoot-elfy, how did u get that output from that paste?20:49
rwwsmallfoot-: systemd-analyze critical-chain20:50
elfysystemd-analyze critical-chain20:50
smallfoot-thanks20:50
rwwmine goes through nmbd, but i need that :c20:50
rwwoh well20:50
smallfoot-Am I the only one with slow systemd boot?20:50
elfysmallfoot-: do systemd-analyze then tab twice20:50
smallfoot-Should I file a report on Launchpad?20:50
rwwsmallfoot-: what's the output of that command?20:50
elfysmallfoot-: I've seen people with 1.5 minutes20:51
smallfoot-Startup finished in 14.865s (firmware) + 11.133s (loader) + 6.127s (kernel) + 42.079s (userspace) = 1min 14.206s20:51
smallfoot-36.013s systemd-udev-settle.service20:51
smallfoot-I don't have any LVM or encryption20:51
TheNumbI haven't checked out vivid after the switch to systemd.20:52
TheNumbMaybe I should20:52
rwwsmallfoot-: that's not the output of systemd-analyze critical-chain, try again20:52
TheNumbsee if hangs on  systemd-udev-settle20:52
smallfoot-rww, http://paste.ubuntu.com/10691416/20:53
smallfoot-this systemd-udev-settle.service is evil!!20:56
elfymmm20:56
elfyyou also appear to be hanging up on a fsck too20:56
elfyoh no - lying20:56
elfybut there is ~36 seconds at the bottom20:57
