[02:01] Hello, just wondering If you guys were aware of issues with Nouveau in 15.04,I have a GTX980 and have been playing around with installing and playing with 15.04. I am actually running a 15.04 headless home server atm and runs great, but my workstation pc can not try, or install from the menu, get a mass of errors sometimes I can get into a tty but not always. The only way I have been able to run15.04 with a gui is to install se [02:02] forgive me for typo onlaptop atm and hate it... [02:08] figured I would ask if anyone wanted logs and hat not before moving on... === Guest23195 is now known as cyphase [09:03] any idea what could be going on? https://paste.kde.org/pgd2awmk3/jtyyku akonadi does not work because of this. I'm running kubuntu Ci weekly iso thing [09:03] I tried chmodding /var/run and/or creating those folders manually but it doesnt work either [09:04] akonadi yields this error https://paste.kde.org/pwxrxra2l/cvnj0w [12:29] Hiyas all === JanC_ is now known as JanC [15:30] Good afternoon. [15:32] afternoon [18:15] I made a bootable disk of beta2 by usb-creator-gtk, but it won't boot. [18:16] desktop-amd64 [18:19] It says "Missing parameter in configuration file. Keyword: path" [18:21] Following repeatively by "gfxboot.c32: not q COM32R image" [18:21] "boot:" [18:21] ^^ q -> a [18:22] jarnos: Try unetbootin. [18:23] or you could try to copy it with dd if you know the usb /dev. [18:24] lordievader, does it give me option to choose keyboard layout and language before running ubuntu from the USB? [18:25] jarnos: Err, during the install you will be asked for the keyboard layout. [18:25] lordievader, I need that for live session, too. [18:28] MoonUnit`, yes, but you can not write other files to the USB then? [18:32] no, not with dd. [19:27] hey, any tips for upgrading to 15.04 beta? i'm running 14.04 now and ran do-release-upgrade -d [19:27] but it's trying to upgrade me to utopic [19:28] furkan: Trusty cannot upgrade to Vivid in one go. [19:28] lordievader: oh i see, thanks, so i should let it upgrade to utopic first i guess? [19:31] furkan: Yes. [20:29] Has anyone tried running bootchart with systemd? [20:29] It seems Vivid boots slow [20:29] it seems stalled just waiting [20:32] smallfoot-: 'systemd-analyse blame' might help you with that. [20:33] I see, thanks [20:34] systemd-analyse: command not found [20:34] its analyze with z [20:35] That's the one ;) [20:35] but it just sorts them by which take longest time [20:35] it will [20:35] it doesn't tell anything about parallel jobs like asynchronous operations [20:35] afaik bootchart won't work [20:36] I see :( [20:36] smallfoot-: Let systemd graph it for you ;) [20:37] smallfoot-: systemd-analyze plot > boot.svg [20:37] oooh [20:37] thanks lordievader :D [20:37] Man pages are useful. [20:38] http://paste.ubuntu.com/10691314/ [20:38] Anything strange with this log? [20:38] lordievader, wow, thats sweet! [20:40] its true what they say, systemd really is a kitchensink lol [20:40] That udev thing is taking long... [20:41] I see [20:41] is your systemd-udev-settle.service faster/shorter than mine? [20:42] it depends on the amount of devices you have [20:42] it has to enumerate them all ;p [20:42] block devices that is [20:42] Then mine is probably faster. Seeing as it doesn't have any :P [20:43] I see [20:43] lordievader, you don't have any? really? i thought everyone had one [20:43] TheNumb, I have 2 ssd, 1 hdd [20:43] It is not even mentioned. [20:43] TheNumb, does it matter how many partitions too? [20:43] However mine isn't very up to date. [20:43] the udev device settler is for things like LVM, encrypted block devices, etc. [20:43] smallfoot-: It is a netboot. [20:43] I see [20:44] lordievader, oh cool! [20:44] lordievader: yea for sure - but who bothers with man pages :p [20:44] if you don't use any of that, it shouldn't be taking much time [20:44] rww, I don't use LVM or encryption [20:44] (I assume, based on how other distros do it) [20:44] elfy: I read a quote somewhere that the fancy things you read on blogs all, at some point, originate from a man page ;) [20:44] heh - for sure :) [20:45] also, systemd-analyze blame falls down when you're analyzing boot time, because it doesn't show that some things run in parallel [20:45] lordievader: mmm - let's make this readable by hooman :) [20:45] perhaps you want systemd-analyze dot | dot -Tsvg > systemd.svg [20:45] critical chain helps a bit more in that case than blame [20:46] i think that's the right command for bootchart anyway, i forget [20:46] oh, huh, didn't know about critical-chain [20:46] it certainly shows the same thing holding up things here as that bootchart [20:46] rww, systemd-analyze plot > boot.svg # does it [20:46] plot, there we go [20:47] yeah, dot is for dependencies, derp [20:47] yepcritical chain just shows me the same as the plot does - in regard to what's possibly the hold up [20:48] http://paste.ubuntu.com/10691385/ [20:48] network-online.target hangs about then finally libvirt-bin.service finishes off in 243ms [20:49] at least that's how I read it [20:49] and I think I've seen bug report re network.online recently [20:49] elfy, how did u get that output from that paste? [20:50] smallfoot-: systemd-analyze critical-chain [20:50] systemd-analyze critical-chain [20:50] thanks [20:50] mine goes through nmbd, but i need that :c [20:50] oh well [20:50] Am I the only one with slow systemd boot? [20:50] smallfoot-: do systemd-analyze then tab twice [20:50] Should I file a report on Launchpad? [20:50] smallfoot-: what's the output of that command? [20:51] smallfoot-: I've seen people with 1.5 minutes [20:51] Startup finished in 14.865s (firmware) + 11.133s (loader) + 6.127s (kernel) + 42.079s (userspace) = 1min 14.206s [20:51] 36.013s systemd-udev-settle.service [20:51] I don't have any LVM or encryption [20:52] I haven't checked out vivid after the switch to systemd. [20:52] Maybe I should [20:52] smallfoot-: that's not the output of systemd-analyze critical-chain, try again [20:52] see if hangs on systemd-udev-settle [20:53] rww, http://paste.ubuntu.com/10691416/ [20:56] this systemd-udev-settle.service is evil!! [20:56] mmm [20:56] you also appear to be hanging up on a fsck too [20:56] oh no - lying [20:57] but there is ~36 seconds at the bottom
