didrockspitti: bah, that's weird with the patch applied… however, I must say I only tested with revert applied the plymouth case07:44
didrockspitti: so, maybe something else changed the boot order in other ways?07:44
didrockspitti: anyway, as it seems we are going to remove all this fsck code…07:44

Laneywhat's up?08:04
ogra_pitti, yup, du auch ?08:05
didrockspitti: at least, we should start shipping the new patch in ubuntu I guess, I don't expect to see upstream behaving nicely on that one anymore…08:05
willcookehey Laney - we need to do your review :)08:05
LaneyHAHA08:05
didrockspitti: but yeah, I saw your reply, thanks! mbiebl wanted to reply as well as he didn't like the answers as well08:05

Laneymy dad always cooks these huge buffet meals08:10
Laneyah, calendar says I am supposed to patch pilot08:11
Laneyperfecto08:11
seb128:-)08:12
seb128Laney, don't tell me that, like didrocks, you are a chocolat hater?!08:12
pittididrocks: as for reverting the After=hwdb-update thingy, I proposed an alternative on the upstream ML, and I think Lennart might even have committed that already (but fd.o seems to be down, so I can't check)08:13
didrockswe never used the term "hater"08:13
seb128didrocks, btw I was planning on visiting one of the best chocolat shops in London next time we are here, I guess you are not going to join :-/08:13
didrocksseb128: "moderate" is the right one :)08:13
didrocksseb128: I can totally join and even buy chocolate08:13
pittididrocks: I didn't even try moving the hwdb-update dep to the udev-trigger.service thingy yet, but it ought to help08:13
seb128didrocks, well you cheers up at not eating chocolate :-)08:13
didrocksbut a few and good ones :)08:13
pittiand, FWIW, chocolate++!08:13
pittia life without chocolate is possible08:13
pitti... but pointless!08:13
ogra_object oriented chocolate !08:13
didrockspitti: yeah, that part, sounds like it's dealt now. (would be good to have it backported to the v219 stable branch)08:14
didrocksseb128: yeah, I cheered up at avoiding eating chocolate for easter!08:14
Laneyjust have a little bit of the best stuff :P08:15

didrocksbut TBH, I prefer cheese and bread :p08:15
ogra_this like saying you dont eat chocolate on easter !! (me couldnt find a better metapher)08:16
ogra_*metaphor ...08:16
Laney:)08:20
pittididrocks: ah, it's back -- http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/commit/?id=d8f0930eec248c208:40
didrockspitti: good :)08:41
pittididrocks: I can verify that with teh fsck autopkgtest, right?08:41
didrockspitti: indeed08:42
pittididrocks: ah, I can reproduce the failure in http://d-jenkins.ubuntu-ci:8080/view/Vivid/view/AutoPkgTest/job/vivid-adt-systemd/152/ARCH=amd64,label=adt/console , it seems to be a race09:12
Laneypitti: mind if I insert https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1439109 into your mind box? :)09:13
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1439109 in systemd (Ubuntu) "Network interface not coming up automatically inside lxc container" [Undecided,New]09:13
didrockspitti: ah, it can be yeah…09:14
didrockspitti: I can have a look, just not now09:14
pittiLaney: the /run/network creation should have already been fixed earlier09:14
pittiLaney: most useful would probably be a "journalctl -b" from a failed boot09:15
Laneythe /directory/ is there, but ifquery expects /run/network/ifstate09:15
Laneybut this is just a segfault when querying anyway, not the cause of the interfaces not coming up09:15
pittiLaney: ah, ok; but ifup ought to create that, right?09:15
Laney& it's masked when they do come up because then ifup creates this file itself09:15
Laneyso it's a segfault when you run ifquery with no interfaces09:16
pittiLaney: ah, so the failing wait-all-auto is a side issue only09:17
pittididrocks: no worries, I was just saying that I get this too, so it's not CI env specific09:17
popeyDon't suppose any of you have a 15.04 laptop with wired and wifi connected, and see this bug do you? It's absolutely doing my head in. bug 144105309:17
ubot5bug 1441053 in network-manager (Ubuntu) "Two network adapters on same LAN causes 30s drop-outs" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/144105309:17
LaneyIt just indicates that ifup@eth0 didn't happen09:17
pittiLaney: ifup@.service and ifup-wait-all-auto are completely independent09:19
pittiLaney: so failure if wait-all-auto would start network-online.target too early, but that's apparently not the problem you are having09:19
popeyOoh, I like how we leak data about places someone has been in our bug reports :S https://launchpadlibrarian.net/202361816/nmcli-con.txt09:19
LaneyAlright09:20
pittiLaney: there won't be uevents for adding the eth0 device in a container (I suppose), so /etc/init.d/networking should bring up eth009:20
pittiLaney: thus "systemctl status -l networking" would be interesting09:20
Laneypitti: there09:21
pittiwow, it didn't even run09:21
pittiLaney: so that means nothing pulls in network.target?09:22
pittiLaney: systemctl status network.target is inactive too, I suppoe?09:22
Laneyyep09:22
seb128popey, I've a 15.04 laptop docked with wifi and eth, no dropouts that I can tell09:23
popey:(09:23
pittiLaney: you ought to have a /run/systemd/generator.late/sysinit.target.wants/networking.service, do you?09:23
Laneypitti: apparmor.service ebtables.service qemu-kvm.service (no networking.service)09:24
pittiLaney: ah, wait09:24
pittiApr 01 11:33:03 hostname systemd[1]: Failed to start LSB: AppArmor initialization.09:24
pittiApr 01 11:33:03 hostname systemd[1]: apparmor.service failed.09:24
pittiI suppose that blocks a lot09:24
popeyseb128: thanks for uh.. not confirming :)09:24
seb128popey, yw09:24
seb128popey, maybe try checking with cyphermox if he can help you09:24
popeywill do.09:24
Laneypitti: This is weird in itself as I'm running with "lxc.aa_profile = unconfined"09:26
pittiLaney: right, but that's just the "outside" protection on the host09:27
pittiLaney: in the container, /etc/init.d/apparmor would still run09:27
pittiLaney: hm, ATM I can't even build a container on vivid09:28
pittiFailed to create root cgroup hierarchy: No such file or directory09:29
pittiFailed to allocate manager object: No such file or directory09:29
pitti[!!!!!!] Failed to allocate manager object, freezing.09:29
pittiLaney: so I suppose you get over that somehow?09:30
pittiFailed to mount cgroup at /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd: Permission denied09:30
LaneyNot seen that one I'm afraid09:30
LaneyI've had this built for $ages and just dist-upgraded it09:30
pittiapparmor="DENIED" operation="mount" info="failed type match" error=-13 profile="lxc-container-default" name="/sys/fs/cgroup/freezer/" pid=22598 comm="systemd" fstype="cgroup" srcname="cgroup" flags="rw, nosuid, nodev, noexec"09:30
pittiLaney: ah, maybe that's why you use "unconfined"?09:30
Laneyapparmor -> "Permission denied; attempted to load a profile while confied?"09:30
LaneyI forgot the reason, possibly something to do with using sbuild inside it09:31
Laneydefinitely quite historical09:31
pittiack, unconfined works; so that's yet another problem09:31
pittibut networking.service runs for me09:32
pittiLaney: ah, my default container doesn't have apparmor installed; hang on, trying to install that09:32
pittiyep, that hangs09:32
pitti(and fails on boot)09:33
pittiok, there's a lot of things wrong with lxc under vivid :/09:34
pittierr, with vivid under lxc09:34
Laneyvivid over lxc under vivid09:35
Laney:)09:35
pittiLaney: does it help if you purge apparmor?09:35
Laneyhuh09:36
Laneyactually it does not09:36
Laneysystemctl --state=failed -> console-setup.service only now09:36
pittiLaney: ok, that's consistent with what I see here; apparmor fails, but networking.service still runs09:38
pittiLaney: can you attach "sudo journalctl -b" there?09:38
Laneypitti: done!09:41
pittiLaney: hm; just to double-check, do you actually have a /etc/rcS.d/*apparmor ?09:43
pittiLaney: err09:43
pittiLaney: /etc/rcS.d/*networking09:43
Laneypitti: nein09:44
pittiI wonder why the generator didn't produce a .service for it09:44
pittiLaney: a-ha!09:44
pittiLaney: now, that would be the problem then09:44
Laneybut... why?09:44
pittiLaney: (if you were asking me -- no idea..)09:48
LaneyI was more muttering into the air09:49
Laneyhmm09:50
Laneylaney@vivid> sudo update-rc.d networking defaults                                                                                     ~09:50
Laneysudo: unable to resolve host vivid09:50

Sweet5harkuhm, so how is this ubuntu snappy thingie supposed to work? I tried to walk through libreoffice dependencies with "sudo snappy install <foo>" and "sudo snappy search <foo>" as suggested by http://developer.ubuntu.com/en/snappy/ , but since none of those yield anything for "gcc"/"g++" this is either a joke or Im doing it really wrong. Any hints?11:36
Sweet5harkI mean without that, what is the stable toolchain on which the stuff that is there is even build?11:36
ogra_Sweet5hark, heh, snaps are not debs :)11:37
ogra_you cant just replace apt commands with snappy calls11:37
ogra_a snap has to either ship all deps inside or there needs to be a framework it uses ... since frameworks are not completely there yet you would have to create a LibO snap with all deps included (or a static build)11:38
ogra_Sweet5hark, there is #snappy btw11:38
Sweet5harkogra_: the liked page mostly suggests so. Anyway: "sudo snappy search gcc" and "sudo snappy search c++" suggests no C++11 compiler there? so ahem, what is the baseline?11:39
ogra_the baseline is ubuntu-core currently ...11:40
ogra_which means "just enough to boot and make the snappy command work"11:40
ogra_everything above that is either a framework or a snap shipping its own deps11:41
ogra_you dont build *on* snappy, so a comiler would be kind of useless11:43
ogra_(well, you can build on snappy, but would need a chroot inside some writable area)11:43
seb128ok, I'm off for most of the afternoon, see you later11:48
Sweet5harkogra_: ok, so you build "elsewhere" -- so what is the "elsewhere" that we will support over the lifetime of snappy? just plain Ubuntu desktop? That is why I ask about baseline: Just repackaging binaries from some dpkg baseline isnt too hard -- but that ensures that snappy will never replace classical *.debs as it will be build on it.11:49
ogra_binary debs will be used to assemble snaps ...11:50
ogra_but debs are not (and will never be) supported on snappy itself11:51
=== alan_g|afk is now known as alan_g
Sweet5harkogra_: Im mostly just confused about the point of this whole exercise, if we will need to support both debs and snaps to eternity with this ...12:11
ogra_no, debs will at some point in teh future most likely just come straight from debian, we will go on maintaining the archive and flavours will still be able to build their images etc12:14
ogra_there will be an overlap for some time though ...12:14
ogra_as for a LibO snap, i think you want to wait til we have at least some basic frameworks (Mir, some toolkit ... ) available ... not sure what the satatus is for that, ask in #snappy12:15
ogra_*status12:16
Sweet5harkogra_: k, thx12:16
Trevinholarsu: what would you say about backporting https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?id=5ced234144ce63decbf5afc8a3517290b9027018 until I don't get rid of the compiz beast?12:52
larsuTrevinho: I guess this adds decorations everywhere?12:53
Trevinhowell, it should...12:53
Trevinholarsu: not sure how it handles stuff (buttons and other contrrols=) addded to the  CSDs..12:54
Trevinholarsu: as that is handled elsewhere12:54
larsuTrevinho: seems to, yeah12:58
larsuI guess that's what we should do then12:58
larsuLaney: have an opinion? ^12:58
larsubrb, changing location12:59
Laneylarsu: what effect does this have?14:00
larsuLaney: havn't tried it myself, but from the looks of it it always adds a decoration14:26
Laneylarsu: we're not going to get double decorations anywhere?14:32
larsuLaney: still haven't tried it14:33
Laney:P14:34
larsuin theory, gtk should unset show-close-button14:34
Laneyhmm14:36
Laneylooks like this function got renamed "supports_client_shadow" in master14:36
Laneythat's more reassuring14:36
larsuyes, because they assume everyone supports csd now14:37
larsuat least according to the commit Trevinho linked14:37
LaneyI was worried that gtk might decide to draw the headerbar inside a server side window14:39
Laneythere's gnome bug #74622214:39
ubot5Gnome bug 746222 in .General "Improve CSD windows without a compositor" [Normal,Resolved: fixed] http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74622214:39
larsuLaney: right, we'd be option (2) from comment #314:40
LaneyI think we fall into the "custom titlebar" case14:40
larsuthis is in 3.16 only though, right?14:40
Laneyya14:41

Laney• Updates: libsoup2.4 gvfs eog15:43
Laney• Sponsoring & testing of apturl which was using deleted icon names & crashing15:44

ochosilarsu, Laney: are you planning on adding the CSD for non-composited WMs (the one you linked to before) to 15.04?15:50
Laneyochosi: thinking about it15:52
Laneydo you have a thought?15:52
ochosiwell i haven't tested it, but it'd certainly be a nice addition for us15:53
ochosiit's not critical, so if you're having second thoughts i guess we can wait until 15.1015:53
ochosi(the author of the patch is the author of xfwm4 though, so i'm sure it'll work just fine for us)15:53
Laneythe two should be mitigation for the frame extents issue under unity15:54
ochosiright, that would make sense15:55
ochosibut ofc i haven't tested that either15:55
