yossarianukhi -   reading this http://news.softpedia.com/news/Ubuntu-15-04-Launches-in-Two-Weeks-Will-Be-Based-on-Linux-Kernel-3-19-3-477904.shtml10:12
yossarianukit looks like ubuntu 15.04 is going to be based on kernel 3.19.310:12
yossarianuk does that  mean BTRFS users are screwed ?10:12
yossarianuk i.e https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Gotchas - you need 3.19.4 + or you may have an unbootable system with btrfs10:12
yossarianukp.s - cheers - i've been running Kubuntu 15.04 for a few weeks - system is really stable (Plasma5 is great!)10:13
lordievaderFor as far as I know, Ubuntu doesn't support btrfs.10:16
yossarianuklordievader: when you install the OS BTRFS is an option though10:17
yossarianukits not the default10:17
yossarianuklordievader: would seem silly to ship the distro with such a potentially severe filesystem bug10:18
yossarianukwhat a point release to the kernel coul;d fix it.10:18
lordievaderThat there is an option doesn't mean it is supported ;)10:19
lordievaderBut if you are daring enough to go with btrfs I expect you can manage on your own.10:19
yossarianuklordievader: sure - but managing it on your own would be easier if the kernel didn't have a severe bug in it.10:22
yossarianukIs this the sort of thing that could be backported ?10:22
lordievaderNo idea.10:23
yossarianukI imagine you will get various bug reports relating to it if not - and blog posts suggesting to stay clear of 15.04 for BTRFS users10:23
yossarianuk(BTRFS is really nice BTW...)10:23
lordievaderI've heard stories, but I'm still skeptical.10:24
yossarianuki.e due to bugs like this :<>10:25
yossarianukI use it on home machines only not work10:25

bullgard6Can I expect from Ubuntu 15.04 a flavour without Upstart but with systemd?15:27
lordievaderbullgard6: All flavours use Systemd, I think.15:28
bullgard6I see.15:28
elfywhat you can expect is one that boots with systemd, but has upstart in the recovery menu15:28
elfyas far as I am aware15:28
bullgard6elfy: Thanky.15:29
bullgard6elfy: Thanks.15:29
agronholmI wonder why they still keep some services running with sysv init17:26
agronholmlike postgresql -- I'd like to be able to depend on it but I can't because it's not a systemd service17:26

vitimitiI am getting an initramfs prompt when booting the system with Unable to find 'writable' partition error. If I exit the prompt it complains that systemctl can't create temporary files. Can somebody help me about this issue? (I'm running in recovery mode from the kernel that is right before the latest one)20:29
scellowHey guys how do you run tomcast server with the new systemd thingy ?21:13
scellowI tried: service tomcat start, but i get this error: Failed to start tomcat.service: Unit tomcat.service failed to load: No such file or directory.21:14
PryMar56scellow, it might be masked: sudo systemctl list-unit-files | grep mask21:21
PryMar56or grep for tomcat21:23
vitimitiCan somebody help with this systemctl "Can't create volatile files or directories" error? I can only boot into the recovery mode of the kernel 3.19.0-10-generic (which is not the last one, either).21:32
lordievaderPryMar56: systemctl can do it's own grepping: systemctl list-unit-files *mask*21:46
