didrockswhy do you have 2 lines, isn't one fiber enough ?07:24
willcookeit was too slow in the olden days07:29
willcookeplus I wanted a back up07:29
willcookeit's not much more cost, maybe 20 quid a month07:30
willcookeso I think I'll keep it for now07:30
didrocksoh waow, indeed, quite cheap07:30
didrockswhat site are you using to measure your connexion speed btw? Most of ISP are usually "optimizing" path to speednet and such07:31
willcookehttp://speedof.me/07:31
didrocksinteresting, didn't know that one07:32
seb128hey didrocks, willcook, desktopers07:38

seb128didrocks, did you close IRC to optimize benchmarks? ;-)07:38
seb128"let's not waste those 15 bytes/s" :p07:38
didrocksseb128: no, I switched to rj45 instead of wifi07:39
didrocksand seems we don't handle that well for opened apps…07:39
seb128ah, ip change :-)07:39
seb128well "we" being the tcp protocol I guess07:39
didrocksseb128: it's the same public ip though07:39
didrocksa port change yeah07:39
didrocksIIRC there is a protocol for the router to define this switch07:40

Laneygreetings08:29
larsuLaney: just a heads up, we'll need another gtk upload this week. mclasen hasn't made up his mind yesterday though. I'll annoy him again today08:31
larsuthis is about horizontal scrolling being broken as of 3.14.1208:32
Laneyi saw that bug08:32
Laneymight have to go to sru, we'll see08:32
larsu:(08:32
Laneywant to take https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1444174 upstream?08:33
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1444174 in gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) "gtk fails to build if mir backend enabled with x11 backend disabled" [Undecided,In progress]08:33
larsusure08:34
Laneythx08:34
larsuweird patch...08:34
Laneythat variable should be called something like need_gio_unix08:37
larsuthat, or a dependency on gio-unix-2.0 should be declared somewhere08:37
larsuI can't compile at all with those configure options. "No GDK backends selected"08:43
larsuoh wait. Missed a call to autogen.sh08:43
larsumir only landed in the 3.16 cycle? Interesting...08:45
Laneywe have this huge patch to backport it all08:45
larsuhm, added on May 20 201408:46
larsuthat's before 3.14, no?08:46
larsuapparently not :)08:46
larsuI get a different error though. Is the mir client library api stable?08:50
larsutoo many arguments to function 'mir_surface_set_event_handler'08:51
larsumir-backend-unmerged.patch?08:53
Laneytime to give it to attente ...08:54
larsueven mir-backend.patch looks different from what is in gtk master08:55
larsu*sigh*08:55
seb128larsu, bug #1443774 is the gtk issue you were discussing yesterday right? do we have another bug we already use for the issue?09:17
ubot5bug 1443774 in unity (Ubuntu) "Horizontal scrolling is backwards" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/144377409:17
seb128to dup that one09:17
larsuseb128: not that I'm aware of. It's the one bregma linked to yesterday as well09:29
larsuseb128: the commit that breaks stuff is due to this upstream bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73717509:29
ubot5Gnome bug 737175 in Widget: GtkRange "most horizontal sliders are inverted when scrolled with mouse wheel" [Normal,Resolved: fixed]09:29
seb128k09:29
larsuwhich I can't reproduce09:29
seb128larsu, I reassigned to gtk/assigned to you, feel free to unassign if that's incorrect09:29
larsubut I guess this is where the confusion comes from09:29
larsuseb128: that's good. I plan on nagging mclasen about it again today09:29
seb128thanks09:30
larsuor do you prefer a downstream patch for the release?09:30
seb128tkamppeter, hey, what's the status of https://code.launchpad.net/~philpem/ubuntu/utopic/ptouch-driver/fix-for-1342979/+merge/255190 ? still wanting to do an upload for vivid?10:39
attentelarsu, Laney: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?id=61f3399f980288a9a9e4b03b50dd147a8af55a8d and http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mir-team/mir/development-branch/revision/2442/include/client/mir_toolkit/mir_surface.h?10:51
larsuattente: I have the same problem on master11:07
larsuattente: oh, I need the mir fix as well?11:07
attentelarsu: yeah, i was building against the trunk of mir11:07
attentethere was an api change at revision 244211:07
larsuthis is the saddest statement I've read all week :(11:07
attentelarsu: http://thenicestplaceontheinter.net/11:09
larsuhehe :)11:10
attentelarsu: maybe just revert 61f3399f980288a9a9e4b03b50dd147a8af55a8d to get it working with stable mir11:10
larsuattente: good idea. let's see if I hit the same compile error to reproduce that bug11:14
larsuindeed. awesome, thanks.11:15
larsuattente: can we just push mir-related changes or should I go through bz as well?11:29
tkamppeterseb128, the first patch he offered was not a complete fix and then he came with a lot of patches. So the full change is of large impact, but as it concerns only the support for Brother label printers and cannot break anything in the system, like general printing or support for other printers, I could even have a look and try to get it uploaded today.11:56
attentelarsu: i think we have free reign to push as long as we only touch gdk/mir12:00
=== MacSlow is now known as MacSlow|lunch
larsuattente: ah, this touches configure.ac though12:01
attentelarsu: what's the change?12:02
larsuattente: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/203284535/fix-1444174.patch12:02
larsuI think I'll just push it12:02
larsuit's insanely simple12:02
* larsu makes tea before12:02
Laneygood idea12:03
Laneyit's a big event12:03
attenteoh, right, that's duflu's patch12:03
larsuLaney: indeed. Gotta be prepared12:03

Laneycamra know what they're talking about13:16
didrockslarsu: didn't dist-upgrade today13:16
didrockslarsu: the no media keys is there for a while, it's a race apparently13:16
larsuanother reason for not allowing upgrades in a session13:16
larsuoh, interesting13:16
didrocksyeah, so not linked to upgrade in all cases13:16
=== MacSlow|lunch is now known as MacSlow
seb128yeah, I sometime get the no multimedia keys and it's not an update thing13:25

Laneyit's pretty extreme14:09
willcookeI've got lots more like that, I'll be happy to share ;)14:14
Laneyyou should have it constantly updating14:15
tkamppeterseb128, I have uploaded a new ptouch-driver package to Vivid now containing all changes from Phil Pemberton. It is a larger patch but it only affects Brother laser printers, no regression risk for anything else.18:13
