Azluxi suppose some setting are broken but i don't know with one09:46
Azluxidea ?09:47
Azluxi think some problem with the default program manager but i don't know what to do09:48
leszekTry to look for an error mesage in .xsession-errors09:49
leszekand yes pcmanfm is needed for lxde for drawing the desktop background09:50
leszek+ icons09:50
Azluxthis kind of error ?09:51
Azlux(openbox:1511): GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 11 was not found when attempting to remove it09:51
leszekbut openbox is working fine ?09:52
Azluxopenbox yes09:53
Azluxbut no lxde anymore09:53
Azlux(openbox:1511): GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 11 was not found when attempting to remove it09:53
leszekyeah then this is just a warning I guess09:53
leszekpcmanfm installed ?09:53
leszeklxpanel installed ?09:53
Azluxyes and yes09:53
leszeklubuntu-desktop or lxde metapackages installed ? Maybe reinstalling them is a viable option if you removed some of lxdes components09:53
Azluxmay be09:54
Azluxsome dependences missing for lubuntu-desktop09:55
Azluxweird09:55
Azluxi reboot09:56
Azluxso i suppose it was that. depencies missing09:59
Azluxnot it's working even if "Desktop setting" don't want to open itself10:00

leszekso no desktop basically ?10:16
leszekcan you try to remove the config file of pcmanfm in ~/.config to see if it helps10:17
Azluxi have a desktop10:17
Azluxit's the desktop manager10:17
Azluxwhat do you have for the desktop_manager/command in the file .config/lxsession/Lubuntu/desktop.conf ?10:18
Azluxbut yes i think it's the config10:19
Azluxyes it's that : the parameter of Desktop manager is linked to nautilus and not pcmanfm10:23
leszekah10:23
leszekremove nautilus or set the mimetype to use pcmanfm that should work10:23
Azluxyes10:24

nonyaboh well case serua serua15:33
saabiHello, I need help with an issue I'm having during installation.17:11
saabiCan anybody help_17:11
saabi?17:11
wxl!ask | saabi17:11
ubottusaabi: Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience17:11
saabiAlright... The problem is I simply can't launch the installer.17:12
saabiI ran it from the command line and it dumps the core17:12
wxlsaabi: did you check the md5 of the iso?17:12
saabiThe system boots up fine from usb17:12
saabiit's the actual install command that fails:17:13
saabilubuntu@lubuntu:~$ sh -c 'ubiquity gtk_ui' Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: can't initialize sys standard streams Traceback (most recent call last):   File "/usr/lib/python3.4/io.py", line 52, in <module>   File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 2237, in _find_and_load   File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 2226, in _find_and_load_unlocked   File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 1200, in _load_unlocked   File "<frozen17:13
wxlsaabi: check the md5.17:13
saabialright17:13
saabiwxl: thanks, md5 failed...17:19
wxlsaabi: always first thing to check :)17:19
saabiI'll download again. I used the torrent for download however with uTorrent, which I believe has some error checking17:20
saabiPerhaps the Windows install has a virus...17:20
wxl!zsync | saabi, a better alternative to torrenting is17:20
ubottusaabi, a better alternative to torrenting is: Use zsync to update your Ubuntu CD image without needing to download the parts that didn't change. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ZsyncCdImage17:20
wxlwindows? virus? naaaaaw17:20
saabiheh :)17:21
saabizsync looks nice!17:21
wxlsaabi: that's what the QA team uses17:22
saabiperhaps somebody knows the url to lubuntu-14.10-desktop-amd64.iso.zsync ?17:26
wxlsaabi: you can just navigate cdimage.ubuntu.com17:26
saabialright, sounds good17:26
wxlsaabi: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/14.10/release/lubuntu-14.10-desktop-amd64.iso.zsync17:27
wxlsaabi: they always follow the same format, so keep that in mind17:27
wxlsaabi: also fun trick: if you change the name of your downloaded iso to the name of the iso you want to download (say, 15.04 when it comes out next week), and then zsync the new url, it will save you major time17:27
saabiWhile we're at it, right now I'm installing lubuntu on my laptop, but I'm thinking of replacing ubuntu on my desktop as well since the performance on the laptop is so much better. Is there a conventional upgrade path?17:27
saabinice...17:28
wxlsaabi: kind of, yeah. install the lubuntu-desktop package and then remove all the extra cruft17:28
saabicool17:28
wxl!purelxde | saabi17:28
ubottusaabi: If you want to remove all !KDE, !GNOME and !XFCE packages and have a default !Lubuntu system follow the instructions here « http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purelxde »17:28
saabiwxl: Thanks again!17:29
wxlsaabi: np. let us know if you need anything else and if you want to help contribute to the project, there's always room for more XD17:29
saabiubottu: You're a very helpful bot.17:29
ubottusaabi: I am only a bot, please don't think I'm intelligent :)17:29
wxlhahah it's so modest17:29
saabiIt shows :)17:29
saabiwxl: If I have a chance I'd love to help out. Let's see how time allows me too..17:31
wxlsaabi: ping me if you want to discuss different ways you can help out. one way that's super easy is hang out here and try to answer questions for people. just listening you learn a lot!17:31
saabiwxl: I probably will hang out here just because it's so responsive :)17:32
wxlsaabi: we usually are. we've got good coverage across different time zones.17:32
wxlsaabi: do you already have a launchpad account?17:34
saabiwxl: I believe I set one up, though I haven't used it so far.17:35
saabiwxl: Alright, I blundered. I compared the md5 of the ubuntu 14.10 iso image to my lubuntu 14.10 iso image17:36
wxlsaabi: it's good for reporting bugs *hint* *hint* :) it's also good for signing into the wiki if you have additions/changes17:36
wxloooooooooops :)17:36
saabiwxl: After zsync I noticed it didn't download anything because the checksums mathced17:36
wxlah interesting17:36
saabiSo the md5 is not the problem17:37
wxlnow i'm baffled17:37
wxloh17:37
wxlwell17:37
wxlthe md5 of the media itself may not match17:37
wxlthere can be a problem in both the download and the image creation17:37
saabiCould be, I transferred the iso using Universal USB Installer in windows, I'll do it again from lubuntu17:38
saabiAh, silly me I can't, the USB stick is being used :)17:39
saabiAlright, I'll do it from my desktop ubuntu17:40
saabiJust gotta get up from the couch and head over to my office next door... :P17:40
saabi-desktopwxl: Preparing the USB stick with reserved extra space shouldn't be a problem I'm guessing. Right?18:08
saabiwxl: Using Startup Disk Creator worked. Apparently Universal USB Installer running on Windows screws something up.18:29
wxlsaabi: yeah i've noticed different result from different tools, even within ubuntu18:29
ianorlin/usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/devices/16 might work from those existing18:37
ianorlinoops meant for -offtopic18:37
saabi2Alright, finally running from my laptop installation :)18:44

mr_rmi'm running lubuntu 14.10 on virtualbox 4.3.26 r98988. i have "auto resize" and the latest guest additions installed. the panel bar seems to not redraw very well after resizing the vm window. sometimes when i make it smaller, the panel doesn't come back at all unless something repaints on the desktop. is this a known bug?21:39
ianorlinmr_rm: maybe try to save the xrandr output you want for the vm when you login in autoresize21:41
