kfunkhow are the policies wrt the KF5 version in 15.04, given that there are no point releases for KF usually -- is it going to stay at 5.9?06:33
Etriaphkfunk: Best to ask in #kubuntu07:25
EtriaphThis channel is for development only.07:26
Tm_TEtriaph: I think that is actually development question07:38
EtriaphTm_T: The question was repeated twice I think, I regarded it as spam.07:42
EtriaphMy apologies if that's not the case.07:42
Tm_TEtriaph: heh, if it's spam it doesn't belong to support channels either, no it's not spam but very important question07:45
sitterwhat be the question?07:45
Tm_Thow are the policies wrt the KF5 version in 15.04, given that there are no point releases for KF usually -- is it going to stay at  5.9?07:45
Tm_TI'm interested too what is the way we can go with KF507:46
sitterkfunk: undecided. it probably will stay though, at least for non-lts releases. I imagine it a bit too cumbersome to run all framework releases through the process what with all the paperwork07:48
sitterthere's also the problem of unreliable compatibility right now as dicussed numerous times on the frameworks devel list07:50
RiddellI expect for backports, doing SRUs takes more person-power and may not be possible as sitter says07:53
kfunkok, good to know07:56
kfunkI'm just trying to figure on what KF5 to stabilize kdevelop5 on, and 5.9 seems to be a suitable target07:57
kfunkon what KF5 version*07:57
Riddellkfunk: yes that seems sensible08:08
blaze`why plasma desktop depends on plasma-nm?08:11
blaze`i never asked for this08:12
=== blaze` is now known as blaze
blazenow i have to manually shutdown network-manager every time after boot08:15
blazewhat a mess08:15
Riddellsgclark: you added that, do you remember why? ↑08:22
ejayGood morning. I want to build Amarok from source. I'm on plasma5 and cmake stops on FindKDE4. Question is - do I have to install/compile kde4 dev libs? Is it even possible to intall those lib in plasma5?08:24
soeehmm, not sure why but here at work my PC wont reboot using buttons in menu or from Leave screen08:26
soeeit just ends with black screen and cursor visible (i can access yakuake and krunner to)08:26
Riddellejay: amarok is a kdelibs4 applications, there's no frameworks version yet (that might be a gsoc project) so yes you need to install kdelibs5-dev08:28
sitterRiddell: does the next series have a name yet?08:33
* sitter can't find nothing08:33
Riddellsitter: no, have you come up with one?  the whole of ubuntu development is waiting on you08:34
sitterand here I thought maybe Mark went on vacation and forgot to tell anyone the name08:35
Riddellsitter: doing libqapt updates, do you have test cases for them? bug 144892908:42
ubottubug 1448929 in libqapt (Ubuntu W-series) "fix apt states" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/144892908:42

ubottubug 1448911 in quassel (Ubuntu W-series) "Execute initDbSession() on DB reconnects" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/144891108:51
sitterRiddell: second one is a bit tricky to test since you need to actually have a package held on account of a missing dep so that would need manually building a couple of packages and a cache to produce that scenario08:54
sitterfirst one is: make sure bluedevil is isntalled, add unstable ppa, update cache, open muon-updater from terminal, output on terminal should include a warning about bluedevil being held but not reported as such08:55
ejayRiddell, ok, it's compiling now. Thank you.08:56
BluesKajHey all10:23
lordievaderGoede middag.10:29
BluesKajhmm, X isn't rendering the desktop background correctly, atm the top of the background is being drawn even with the top of the panel. I have indentations on either side of the panel to facilitate right clicking on the desktop to use the context menu without minimizing the browser etc11:36
BluesKajbut when rebooting one never knows what will come up, altho all apps seem to be rendered properly 11:37
=== rdieter_away is now known as rdieter_work
BluesKajI have another drive with exactly the same install and settings on this pc, which is my backup OS for later when we start testing 15.10. However this install isn't suffering from the plasma 5.3 "artifacts" problem. Go figure. :/11:41
RiddellScottK: bug 1182784 for sru love11:50
ubottubug 1182784 in ubiquity (Ubuntu Vivid) "Kubuntu: Switzerland keyboard setup fails" [Critical,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/118278411:50
Riddellsitter: I dropped the epoch from bluez-qt incase you missed that, he does want to make it a framework11:51
sitter...11:54
sitterI will very much argue that epochs mustn't be dropped11:55
ScottKRiddell: Unless none of the packages (source or binary) are going to have the same name, you really can't drop it.11:57
Riddellsitter: ScottK: it wasn't in the archive11:57
Riddellor even the backports ppa11:57
Riddellor even the beta ppa11:57
sitterit was in CI11:57
ScottKWell then at least there are choices.11:58
ScottKDo we encourage people to install from CI?11:58
RiddellCI has a policiy of "sometimes shit happens" no? that's the case with file overlaps11:58
sitterRiddell: it doesn't11:59
Riddellsitter: so should I add it back?12:12
Riddelldo we want a 15.10 kickoff meeting and by what medium?#12:14
BluesKajwhynot here Riddell ? or a temp chat for a few days12:19
RiddellI find it nice to have a conversation, makes a change from irc12:22
Riddellcontrarywise I'm planning a plasma meeting now which is by irc to make a change from hangouts :)12:22
ScottKRiddell: .12:44
BluesKajRiddell, btw when is the 15.10/Newname repository going to start populating ...is there a codename yet?12:45
BluesKajwell i have to go for a few mins ...gotta reboot 12:47

ovidiu-florincheck it out what the OpenSUSE guys did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNkDJk5_9eU13:30
Riddellamusing but surely the kubuntu 15.04 video is better :)13:31
Riddellthis suse one is all very fancy but does it give you a good overview of the new features?13:32
BluesKaj dropbox script doesn't startup, even tho it's enabled with systemctl and added to systemsettings startup ...not even listed in system tray options either13:37
starbuck11Riddell: it works with the penguin via "o-o-opensource" for a start... not too shaby since Novell-MS took over :)13:39
BluesKajhmm, kde-look.org has been down for 2 days of maintenance, surely it can't be that broken ?13:45
Riddellsitter: qt-gstreamer packaging is hopefully nearly ready, detrout likes to use one of these weird upstream source in the packaging git methods, can kci handle that?14:17
sitterit cannot14:18
sitterwell, technically it can14:18
Riddellbut when it's feeling artistic..?14:19
Riddellsitter: qt-gstreamer now has a kubuntu_unstable branch14:55
sitterweeh14:56
sitterthere is so much crap that needs to be done to make kci better15:00
sitterRiddell: btw, someone needs to set time aside for merging15:02
sittermaster is presently not being merged because the branches conflicted when I first attempted to add master into the standard merge order15:03
sitterso I'd need to do that and then someone gets to spend a day resolving merge conflicts most likely15:03
sittershadeslayer: ^ prolly relevant to you15:03
shadeslayermmmh15:04
Riddellsounds fun :)15:05
shadeslayersitter: too much todo15:05
* shadeslayer dies15:05
Riddellit'll be less hassle than it has been in any previous cycle15:05
sitteryeah, it's literally just doing that initial merge15:06
sitterafter that we can leave master in the merge order and resolve conflicts atomically as it arises15:06
sitters/it/they15:06
Riddelllovely15:06
sitterRiddell: no luck with full source branches http://kci.pangea.pub/job/vivid_unstable_qt-gstreamer/1/consoleFull 15:08
sitteractually full source has its fair share of problems with CI ... namely KCI would have to import upstream git into debian git otherwise the branches are well mental15:09
Riddellall solvable, UDD does it, and UDD is great15:10
Riddelloh a large waste of time15:10
Riddellone or the other15:10
ovidiu-florinahoneybun: ping15:24
Riddellsitter: purpose now has a branch in frameworks for packaging15:25
sitterRiddell: pardon15:26
sitter?15:26
Riddellsitter: are you wondering what it's all about?15:27
Riddellgit clone debian:frameworks/purpose   has the answers15:27
ovidiu-florinSick_Rimmit: ping15:32
sitterxaaahhhhhhhhhhhh15:32
* ovidiu-florin is broken again15:33
sitterRiddell: not sure what to do with qt-gstreamer tbh15:33
* Riddell calls all the kings horses and all the kings men15:34
Riddellsitter: we could just make our own repository for it that doesn't have upstream branch.  or we could just not CI it since it's not like there's any upstream work going on to care about15:35
sitterI am fine with either15:35
Riddellsitter: go with not CIing it then, just copy it over from ~jr to ~kubuntu-ci15:36
sitterRiddell: where do we need it though?15:36
Riddellsitter: kamoso, which I'm packaging now15:37
sitterah15:37
sittercopying over is also a bit meh15:37
sitteractually perhaps I should just build a bit of tech around that15:38
sitterbecause we have already quite some things that are in the repo but not integrated (e.g. telepathyqt) and those will be needed for backports as well, so putting them in some isolated repo for deps would probably be handy15:38
sitterlike we had for qt54 on utopic15:38
Riddellyeah15:39
sitterpurpose should build in nightly build15:48
* sitter out15:48

Riddellhttps://www.kde.org/community/donations/ probably best for money donations, there's http://www.kubuntu.org/donate too17:19

mhall119ScottK: are there sessions you want to add to UOS for things like Qt version landings?18:17
ScottKmhall119: We need to discuss that.  In the past it was foundations that scheduled it, but you said they aren't participating.  Not sure who all it needs agreeing with.18:18
mhall119ScottK: the same people will be around, but there isn't a Foundations track specifically for them18:18
ScottKWell it's not really a foundations issue, they just coordinated.  It's whoever on the Canonical side is using Qt5 and targeting "W" plus that people on the distro team beyond us doing Qt5 packaging work.18:19
mhall119ScottK: also, would anybody like to give a video demo of Plasma 5, like we had on a past Q&A?18:20
