NairwolfI can't have sound on Lubuntu 15.04, I don't know what I can search13:35
Nairwolfmaybe my sound card is not detected ?13:38
Nairwolfoh, wait, today it's work13:39
melodieNairwolf install pulseaudio and pavucontrol and try again13:39
melodieaha today it works, what changed since last time? any update came in?13:39
melodiethe kernel perhaps?13:39
Nairwolfno13:40
Nairwolfyesterday I made already some update13:40
melodieelse, what is your sound card? some issues have been adressed by installing pulseaudio here, depending on the ubuntu flavor (ie lubuntu ships alsa only while xubuntu ships pulseaudio as well)13:40
NairwolfI've also installed lubuntu-restricted-extra13:40
NairwolfI don't know very well pulseaudio. It's a soft charged to control sound card ?13:41
melodieI think the extra are unrelated, only the type of drivers included in alsa and pulseaudio for the chipsets13:41
melodieit is a sound server13:41
NairwolfBecause I've installed pulseaudio yesterday, and reboot my system13:41
Nairwolfserver ?13:41
melodiethat's it13:41
melodieyes13:41
melodiea sound server, as I'm telling you13:41
Nairwolfokay, I suppose I don't know exactly the term of server13:42
melodieremove pulseaudio, reboot, retry, you might have no sound again13:42
melodieserveur de son13:42
melodie^^13:42
Nairwolfbut why pulseaudio is not installed by default ?13:42
melodienot in lubuntu13:42
melodielubuntu ships with ALSA only and so do Bento btw13:42
melodiesome machines don't play well with pulseaudio anyway13:42
melodiesome sound cards, I mean13:43
NairwolfI've type sudo apt-get --purge remove pulseaudio13:43
Nairwolfokay13:43
melodiefrom there reboot, if you don't have sound again, then you know why the sound works today with pa installed13:43
NairwolfI've still sound before rebooting13:43
Nairwolfnow, reboot13:43
melodieyes yes, before rebooting the sound isn't affected13:43
melodieok13:43
Nairwolfbut, yesterday, i've installed pulseaudio, then reboot my system13:44
Nairwolfboot time seems longer with systemd that without it on 14.0413:45
melodiepossibly just logout/login would do, but you need to test that part too13:46
NairwolfI don't have pulseaudio, but, i've still sound13:47
NairwolfI don't know what happened yesterday13:47
Nairwolfbut i wasn't alone, so I was not crazy, there were no sound...13:48
Nairwolfhow can i have access to alsa settings ?13:49
melodiewith alsamixer in the console13:51
melodiethen once the settings are done you can invoke : "sudo alsactl store"13:52
melodieseek for "alsamixer" on the linuxvillage forum, I put screenshots and explanations in French lately13:52
Nairwolfthanks, it works very well, now13:59

alevosiahey there18:15
alevosiaI am trying to find a widget/indicator to monitor power consumption (mW or mA)18:15
alevosiadoes anyone know if there already exists a applet/widget/taskbar icon that allows to monitor it?18:17
alevosiano one?18:18
ianorlinalevosia: I know of powertop on the command line and tubostat for some newer intel processors with turbo but don't know of a tray icon18:24
ianorlinof course you could put one of these in a drop down terminal might work better18:25
ianorlinconky might have seomthing that can do it but it seems configuring that takse a long time with how many options it has18:25

krytarikWelcome.22:37
evenadamHi all - I just installed lubuntu 15.04 on my dell inspiron 910, and there was no battery indicator in the tray. I found a 'battery monitor'  in the panel applets, but it is a yellow rectangle - a while ago I had lubuntu 14.04  on here and there was a more typical looking indicator, any thoughts on how I can get something like that?23:40
