[13:35] I can't have sound on Lubuntu 15.04, I don't know what I can search [13:38] maybe my sound card is not detected ? [13:39] oh, wait, today it's work [13:39] Nairwolf install pulseaudio and pavucontrol and try again [13:39] aha today it works, what changed since last time? any update came in? [13:39] the kernel perhaps? [13:40] no [13:40] yesterday I made already some update [13:40] else, what is your sound card? some issues have been adressed by installing pulseaudio here, depending on the ubuntu flavor (ie lubuntu ships alsa only while xubuntu ships pulseaudio as well) [13:40] I've also installed lubuntu-restricted-extra [13:41] I don't know very well pulseaudio. It's a soft charged to control sound card ? [13:41] I think the extra are unrelated, only the type of drivers included in alsa and pulseaudio for the chipsets [13:41] it is a sound server [13:41] Because I've installed pulseaudio yesterday, and reboot my system [13:41] server ? [13:41] that's it [13:41] yes [13:41] a sound server, as I'm telling you [13:42] okay, I suppose I don't know exactly the term of server [13:42] remove pulseaudio, reboot, retry, you might have no sound again [13:42] serveur de son [13:42] ^^ [13:42] but why pulseaudio is not installed by default ? [13:42] not in lubuntu [13:42] lubuntu ships with ALSA only and so do Bento btw [13:42] some machines don't play well with pulseaudio anyway [13:43] some sound cards, I mean [13:43] I've type sudo apt-get --purge remove pulseaudio [13:43] okay [13:43] from there reboot, if you don't have sound again, then you know why the sound works today with pa installed [13:43] I've still sound before rebooting [13:43] now, reboot [13:43] yes yes, before rebooting the sound isn't affected [13:43] ok [13:44] but, yesterday, i've installed pulseaudio, then reboot my system [13:45] boot time seems longer with systemd that without it on 14.04 [13:46] possibly just logout/login would do, but you need to test that part too [13:47] I don't have pulseaudio, but, i've still sound [13:47] I don't know what happened yesterday [13:48] but i wasn't alone, so I was not crazy, there were no sound... [13:49] how can i have access to alsa settings ? [13:51] with alsamixer in the console [13:52] then once the settings are done you can invoke : "sudo alsactl store" [13:52] seek for "alsamixer" on the linuxvillage forum, I put screenshots and explanations in French lately [13:59] thanks, it works very well, now [14:00] welcome :) === melodie is now known as _______nick_____ === _______nick_____ is now known as melodie [17:09] in cli, how can I count the number of files ? [17:10] ls | wc -l ? :P [17:11] okay, thank you ? [17:11] ;) [18:05] hallo, I have nearly a dozen lines in xsession-errors like: upstart: upstart-event-bridge main process ended, respawning [18:05] upstart: upstart-event-bridge main process (number) terminated with status 1 [18:06] but everythings seems to work - but what means that [18:15] hey there [18:15] I am trying to find a widget/indicator to monitor power consumption (mW or mA) [18:17] does anyone know if there already exists a applet/widget/taskbar icon that allows to monitor it? [18:18] no one? [18:24] alevosia: I know of powertop on the command line and tubostat for some newer intel processors with turbo but don't know of a tray icon [18:25] of course you could put one of these in a drop down terminal might work better [18:25] conky might have seomthing that can do it but it seems configuring that takse a long time with how many options it has [18:35] ok, thanks ianorlin [22:34] hello... i apologize if it is rude to ask this abruptly, but i hve a question about lubuntu [22:34] is it possible to ask here? [22:34] lisa_: Yes, just ask. [22:35] great ok [22:35] so i think i installed lubuntu on my netbook [22:35] but when i check what operating system it runs it says ubuntu 12.04 lts and desktop environment lxde [22:36] so is that correct? is that basically what lubuntu is, ubuntu wuth that different desktop? or did i mess up the install somehow [22:36] there was an error at the end [22:36] lisa_: Nope, that's correct. [22:37] aha! okay thats all i wanted to know. thank you very much! [22:37] Welcome. [23:40] Hi all - I just installed lubuntu 15.04 on my dell inspiron 910, and there was no battery indicator in the tray. I found a 'battery monitor' in the panel applets, but it is a yellow rectangle - a while ago I had lubuntu 14.04 on here and there was a more typical looking indicator, any thoughts on how I can get something like that?
