aramilcan someone help me please im trying to upgrade lubuntu 14.04 to lubuntu 15.04 and it gets stuck at Removing conflicting operating system files17:44
ModelEnginehello, I am in need of a bit of help, if anybody has n e time. I am sort of a noob with linux. I ran ubuntu trusty for about a year as my primary OS, and have now switched to Lubuntu21:31
ModelEngineon my shop computer, as it only has 512 ram21:31
ModelEnginewhat i need is to figure our how to get Plank to autostart, as well as, to get pcmanfm to be pinned to the taskbar21:32
ModelEnginepcmanfm was there, but then i did some tweaking, and now i can't get it back21:32
wxlModelEngine: how do you normally start plank?21:33
ModelEnginewxl: I have to manually start it up by selecting it from Accessories or using the Run to open Plank21:35
wxl!info plank21:35
ubottuplank (source: plank): Elegant, simple, clean dock. In component universe, is optional. Version 0.9.0-1 (vivid), package size 33 kB, installed size 319 kB21:35
wxloh that :) ok21:35
wxlis the taskbar part of plank?21:35
ModelEnginewxl: no, I have plank on the bottom and the taskbar up top21:36
wxlModelEngine: so the "taskbar" is pcmanfm?21:38
ModelEnginewxl: no, what i think i mean is: pcmanfm was pinned to the Lubuntu task bar, but now i ccan't get it back21:39
wxlModelEngine: sorry, i meant lxpanel21:40
ModelEnginewxl: sorry, I probably didn't explain very well. what i have is 2 problems. 1. I need to get pcmanfm to be pinned back onto the Lubuntu task bar21:40
ModelEngineand I need Plank to autostart when i start Lubuntu21:40
ianorlinModel engine right click on the panel panel settings goto panel applets if you don't have an application launch bar add one then add then right click on the application launch bar and add pcmanfm from accessories21:41
ModelEngineianorlin: hey man, thanks i will give it a try21:43
wxlhere's help with autostarting, ModelEngine https://askubuntu.com/questions/81383/how-can-i-add-new-autostart-programs-in-lubuntu21:45
wxltl;dr add the full command line to ~/.config/autostart21:45
ModelEnginewxl: thanks, I will give it a try as well.21:45
wxli suggest prepending with @ which will get it to supposedly autostart if it crashes21:45
wxlthere's is also Preferences → Default Applications for LXSession → Autostart21:45
ModelEnginewxl: yeah i tried the lxsession autostart thing but it still doesn't autostart21:47
ModelEngineianorlin: I tried that, and it worked! Thank you vey much. Only prob is when i did that I accidentally got rid of the 'shutdown' lubuntu icon, the little thing with the 1 and the 021:48
wxlModelEngine: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Boot_Install_Login#Revert_power.2Flogout_button_back_to_LXpanel21:50
ModelEnginewxl: sweet, thanks21:51
ModelEnginewxl: is lxterminal the same as ctrl + alt + del?21:52
ianorlinno that is lxtask21:52
ianorlinlxterminal opens with control alt t21:53
ModelEngineianorlin: what is the diff?21:53
ianorlinlxtask is a task manager that you could stop programs with and see how much ram and cpu is used and lxterminal gives you a command line interface21:54
ModelEngineianorlin: oh, no, my ctrl alt del takes me to a terminal21:54
ModelEngineianorlin: i haven't set the hot keys to be like ms windows21:55
ianorlinModelEngine: ah but actually those are the defualts21:57
ModelEngineianorlin: so it defaults to ctrl alt del being for terminal, or the other way around?21:58
ModelEngineianorlin: so lxterminal is indeed the same as my ctrl alt del?21:58
ModelEnginewxl: ianorlin: when I try to paste Plank into the ~/.config/autostart folder, it says this: The specified directory'/home/friendlyshop1/ .config/autostart' is not valid22:04
