GefilteFishCan someone help me fix this "boot device not found 3f0" error? What I did was delete my EFI partition now I'm stuck with a bricked laptop with Xubuntu installed, but inaccessible. All the Linux distros I've tried on a LiveUSB won't boot. Super Grub2 Disk is the only exception but it's kind of useless. I can use it to get to Xubuntu's terminal though.00:01
bekksFuchs: still no luck. your /etc/sudoers.d/virtualbox suggestion works, but I have no access to directories/files owned by vbox:vbox when running gksudo /usr/bin/VBoxManage00:04
Fuchsbekks: well, is root part of the vbox group?00:04
bekksnot until now00:05
tgm4883uh, would root not have access to everything?00:05
bekksI guess I have to re-login now?00:05
Fuchsbekks: nope00:06
dprctgm4883: most of the time00:06
Fuchsthinking of it, is camel part of the vbox group?00:06
Fuchseven though I am rather sure that file permissions are based on the user you run the command as (and local short tests confirm that), but not knowing what exactly the script does00:07
bekksFuchs: thomasvs_ he scrp00:07
Fuchswat00:07
bekkssorry :)00:08
bekksthe script runs: "/usr/bin/VBoxHeadless -s myvm", but I get a permission denied00:09
Fuchsit would be interesting to see on what it actually fails, maybe strace would do, but that sounds like a bit of an overkill00:10
EriC^^bekks: camel is your user or the user you want to run as?00:10
Fuchsit is ran as root  (at least that is what we specified in the sudoers) by camel00:11
bekkscamel is the user who wants to run the script which executes /usr/bin/VBoxHeadless -s myvm as vbox user.00:11
Fuchserr, wait00:11
Fuchsbekks: can I see that sudo command00:11
Fuchsbecause I, fully on purpose (which I also mentioned), limited it on root and root only. If you want to run it as a different user (and don't talk of the group vbox here) you need to adapt that ...00:12
Fuchsbecause yes, otherwise that will very obviously fail00:12
EriC^^bekks: <your user> ALL= (ALL) NOPASSWD: /bin/su camel -lc "bash /path/to/script"00:12
FuchsEriC^^: wrong way around. Camel is the user who wants to run the script, not a user wants to run it as camel00:13
EriC^^oh00:13
Fuchsthe sudoers is likely to be correct, _unless_ he wants to run the command as the user vbox, not root. In that case the (root) should be changed to either (vbox) or, less secure, (ALL)00:14
Fuchsbekks: or wait, is the script actually ran as root and then that does something as a different user? In that case I'd like to see that script00:16
Fuchsbecause chances are that the issue lies there00:16
EriC^^Fuchs: i think the script runs as camel00:17
Fuchsnope00:17
EriC^^i mean by camel as vbox00:17
Fuchsneither00:17
Fuchsread backlog, see the sudoers configuration00:17
EriC^^he said he didn't want to write his password to run it as another user00:18
Fuchsyes, that I do know.00:18
grendFuchs: have you used smarttools to check health of hdd?00:18
grendI run command that dafty suggested and short self test shows ok00:19
bekks /etc/sudoers.d/virtualbox: http://paste.ubuntu.com/11175737/ - command run as user camel: "sudo -u vbox /usr/bin/VirtualBox list runningvms" results in: http://pastebin.com/NFiCGxKs00:19
Fuchsbekks: yeah, that won't work00:19
Fuchsbekks: the part in the braces () limits who can run the scripts, as I mentioned, fully on purpose set to root. Either change that to vbox or, less secure, ALL00:20
grendor perhaps anyone here can help? I plan to reinistall ubuntu and to be sure disk is fine now00:20
daftykinsgrend: the command i gave is not going to fix that drive, it was faulty when we first spoke00:21
Fuchsbekks: because I try to avoid VirtualBox whenever possible, I have no idea whether it somewhere does require root, though00:21
grenddaftykins: it was 1 bad sector00:21
daftykinsgrend: again you're ignoring the other part i pointed out :)00:21
grenddaftykins: so I run the command and smart tools00:21
Fuchsbekks: however, changing that (root) part to either (vbox) or (ALL) should at least work until that point where it does need root permissions00:21
daftykinsgrend: unfortunately you gave me a very poor attitude last time you were on, so i no longer wish to assist you.00:21
daftykinsso good luck00:21
grendthats fine :D00:21
grendand thanks00:21
EriC^^Fuchs: he changed it00:22
grenddaftykins: plus attitude is matter of perception and perception varies :) thats that00:23
FuchsEriC^^: yeah, we probably resolved it in a channel with less noise and a better language than English.00:25

Quickstevehello there, I'm currently trying to install Windows 7 as a secondary OS on my external USB HDD. I have followed the steps outlined here http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7943-install-windows-7-fast-without-dvd-usb-device.html .That part works without any issues, however I can't get Windows to start. I've tried using update-grup and bootrepair, both add the menu entry, however upon selection it fails with unable to find device01:29

daftykinsdepends whether you want to abandon LTS.02:10

HedgeMageOkay, so once you re-created it, did you also set its type to EFI?  That's code ef00 if I recall correctly.03:22
HedgeMage(I can check)03:22
HedgeMageThen you'd need to format it to fat 32.  Be careful that it's 32, some older tools default to 16 bit when making vfat filesystems, hell if I know why that's still true.03:23
HedgeMageNext, replace the EFI partition's UUID in your fstab with the new UUID.03:25
GefilteFishOk i did that. It also has a boot flag03:25
HedgeMageAfter that, it's possible that reinstalling a package or two (I'd start with your kernel) could automagically repopulate that partition as it should be and tell your UEFI firmware that the Ubuntu system exists.03:26

FoolsRunHi, I need some basic bash shell scripting help. I need to do a while loop for while the output of a shell command doesn't contain a grep'ed value. Basically while ! hcitool con | grep $MAC   --how do I write that?04:29

PhosisAnother question...Looking for more vague direction since I'm learning scripting and don't want much hand holding, but not sure where to start. The script I made runs gzdoom, depending on the option selected, with different WAD files. But when gzdoom quits, the terminal is left waiting for more user input. When really, I'd like the script to stop running altogether after the choice is made and the game boots up.04:55
PhosisSo when you quit game, the script is no longer waiting for input, you are simply back at a bash prompt.04:56

LeMikesome command is responsible for giving a ext4 filesystem a label. how am I supposed to find such commands without internet? `man -k disk label` does not bring up `tune2fs` which can do it :/ what is a neat way to search within the manual/help? grepping "/usr/share/man" has no output at all -.-10:37
MonkeyDustLeMike  man man10:38
MonkeyDustLeMike  if you look for something inside a man page, use a forward slash, like   /somewordhere10:41
llutzLeMike: e2label10:41
kunjiLeMike: if you have gparted installed you can assign a label in that and watch the output.  But I think llutz just gave it to you anyway.10:42
llutzLeMike: "man -k label"10:42
llutzLeMike:  zgrep -r  ....    /usr/share/man/*      man-pages are mostly gzipped10:43

I tried to use DD to backup each drive in the array, but of course, it won't let me without turning off raid. crzdcarneyHey i have a question.  I installed Linux, encrypted the entire drive, it automatically made a 32 gb swap partition.  Would it be easier to just backup everything, reinstall, set the correct swap partition size, then reload the data from the backup?  or can i some how resize the swap even though its encrypted?20:08
guntbertFlannel: never seen before - sorry :-)20:09
HedgeMagecrzdcarney: assuming a standard LUKS+LVM2 setup, you can safely resize.  However, keep in mind that if you want suspend-to-disk functionality, your swap must be a bit bigger than your RAM total.20:09
RaethHello. I tried out Unity for the first time today and have set the dock to auto-hide, however I cannot push it open with my tablet, only the mouse. Does anyone know of this problem?20:10
crzdcarneyI have 32 gb of ram20:10
crzdcarneyI wanted to shrink it down to 4 gb ... is that a bad idea?20:10

Guest97876Yeah, let me tell you what happened21:38
Guest97876I had a Windows 8 laptop. A long time ago. I got fed up, installed 14.04. It was super buggy.21:38
Guest97876A few days ago, I decided I wanted to wipe it and start fresh. I deleted one of my partitions (probably why it cant boot, i know i really messed up here), and turned it off. I've been stuck with the initramfs error ever since.21:39

telmacand btw have you tried booting the live usb on anything else?21:40
Guest97876Well, originally I just downloaded the iso and popped it on there, but then i used a program that was reccomended to me from an ubuntu website, i cant remember what it is exactly but i believe it works21:40
Guest97876as i WAS able to get to the ubuntu splash screen earlier21:40

Guest97876the error was kernel panic-not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown block(0,2)21:41

Guest97876got it, will do that now.21:43
Guest97876arghh, every time i go into the bios i have to retype in the path21:44
EriC^^Guest97876: what do you mean?21:44
Guest97876Well, it's not a boot option when I start BIOS back up. I had previously entered it in and saved my changes, so I have to Add New Boot Option again21:45
Guest97876also I'm not seeing anything about UEFI, where would that be at21:45
Guest97876J:\EFI\BOOT\grubx64.efi is my path, im just posing it so i dont forget it later21:46
Guest97876anyways, i've now added the usb as a boot option, and set it as Boot Option #1. What else do I need to do21:47
EriC^^Guest97876: ok, so that means you're using uefi, as grubx64.efi is the efi file21:47
EriC^^Guest97876: set the usb as the first option, and then reboot so it loads21:47
Guest97876Ok, that didn't do anything.21:48

daftykinsBadLuckRyan: is your phone rooted?23:10
pokeymantrainer(#G1<:E010M1) I have this problem where my wifi keeps dropping out every now and then. My signal is pretty good, so I don't know what's happening.23:10
BadLuckRyanWhat would the next step be23:10
BadLuckRyanYes it is23:10
Guest97876no i dont believe it is but when it wasn't, i couldn't do anything23:10
daftykinswhich ROM are you using?23:10
Guest97876but i'll go try disabling it...23:11
BadLuckRyanslim rom23:11
EriC^^Guest97876: are you pressing try ubuntu or install ubuntu btw?23:11
Guest97876either one takes me to the same kernel error, ive tried both23:11
EriC^^Guest97876: ok23:11
Guest97876ok, csm HAS to be enabled or else i can't get out of bios23:12
Guest97876anyways, i've gotten to the ubuntu installer boot menu23:12
BadLuckRyanI know DriveDroid works. I just need a program that boots23:12
EriC^^Guest97876: ok23:12
daftykins^ that'll just be due to conflicting parameters i'd bet ;)23:12
EriC^^Guest97876: try to get grub like earlier23:12
=== bazhang_ is now known as bazhang
Guest97876its been a while, how did we get to grub? it auto boots to usb now23:13
EriC^^Guest97876: daftykins is probably right about that23:13
EriC^^Guest97876: try to boot without the usb plugged in maybe23:13
Guest97876oh, i was able to get to grub with usb plugged in, by hitting esc while booting and selecting a different boot option23:14
Guest97876so im back at grub, what now?23:14
pokeymantrainer# Appears as BOLO23:15
daftykinsBadLuckRyan: program? what?23:15
daftykinspokeymantrainer: either ask a question or leave please23:15
daftykinsoh you did23:15
BadLuckRyanNevermind guy23:15
daftykinsBadLuckRyan: yeah buy a flash drive then come back :)23:15
EriC^^Guest97876: do you want to install in legacy, or install in legacy and then convert to uefi?23:15
Guest97876i don't even know the difference, whatever you think would work23:16
BadLuckRyanOk girl23:16
EriC^^Guest97876: ok, type linux (hd1,msdos1)/casper/vmlinuz.efi  file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet splash nomodeset --23:18
EriC^^Guest97876: we can install in legacy mode onto a gpt partition, and try to use uefi, if your bios still doesn't like it you can still use legacy23:19
Guest97876ok so uh i typed that in, nothing really seemed to happen23:19
Guest97876is that supposed to be all as one command line?23:19
EriC^^yeah23:20
EriC^^type initrd (hd1,msdos1)/casper/initrd.lz23:20
Guest97876ok so, now what? when i entered it in, it took a second, and then allowed me to type in a new line as normal. should i reboot?23:20
Guest97876ah23:20
EriC^^come to think of it, i don't see how we can convert it, cause we can't boot the live usb in uefi mode even23:20
EriC^^so i guess you'll have to use legacy mode23:21
Guest97876oh, ok. so what should i do23:21
HikaruBGOerHeks,23:21
EriC^^the bios seems sketchy, it's missing the uefi shell for some reason and i have no idea honestly23:21
ranglerzzEriC^^: what23:21
EriC^^ranglerzz: you what?23:22
zanzacarI was to write a python module that reads data from a serial port. To test I was wondering if there was a way to simulate input on the serial port.23:22
zanzacarDoes anyone know of way to do that?/23:22
HikaruBGOerHeks, so the answer to my problem was to use checkpackage with make install and greate the deb package, and then uninstall with dpkg -r php23:22
EriC^^ranglerzz: don't pm me nasty stuff23:22
HikaruBGnice ! :)23:22
daftykinsEriC^^: do we know the make + model of this machine and whether it's up to date or not? (BIOS wise)23:22
ranglerzzHikaruBG: yers23:22
EriC^^ranglerzz: cunt23:23
ranglerzzEriC^^: ops23:23
Guest97876its an ASUS laptop, i couldnt tell you the model number since the sticker with that information got washed out when i got caught in the rain last year23:24
HikaruBGranglerzz, has hers panties 2 sizes smaller today :)23:24
daftykinsGuest97876: it'd say inside the BIOS i would think23:24
Guest97876just tell me what to do, i'm willing to do anything to this laptop at this point23:24
daftykinswell identifying the model would be ace23:25
LeEarlguys how do u say: Caja? j=j or j=h ?23:25
EriC^^Guest97876: did you type the last command?23:25
EriC^^Guest97876: initrd .. ?23:25
EriC^^we can probably get more info about the bios and what not from the live session23:25
Guest97876initrd (hd1,msdos1)/casper/initrd.lz? yes23:25
EriC^^ok type boot23:26
EriC^^actually the bios should have the laptop's model name23:26
Guest97876OH?23:26
Guest97876UBUNTU 14.04 LOADING SCREEN IS UP23:26
Guest97876with 4 white dots turning orange annnnnd then theres a bunch of errors and my screen went black23:27
Guest97876OG23:27
_xer0Hello all, I just installed 15.04 recently on my home desktop. Using a wired connection, I can't seem to get my machine to talk on the network. DHCP is enabled, but is not grabbing an address. States 'unknown' for all variables when viewing connection info through network-manager. (sorry for wall of text)23:27
Guest97876OH MY GOD IT'S WORKING23:27
Guest97876IM ON MY DESKTOP EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING OH MAN23:27
Guest97876there's a desktop shortcut that says Install Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS, I really want to click that and get this over with, do you suggest I do anything else first?23:28
EriC^^Guest97876: it's up to you, we can either see why the bios isn't booting uefi properly or install in legacy mode23:29
EriC^^first option probably you'll have to update the bios's firmware23:29
TravistyI just did a fresh intstall of Ubuntu 15.04 and when I run “sudo apt-get update” it says “0% [Connecting to us.archive.ubuntu.com (2001:67c:1562::16)] …” and never gets further. Does anyone have some ideas of how to debug this?23:30
Guest97876I just want to get this over with so I can get back to work...install in legacy mode would just be installing it "normally", right? so go ahead and click the install icon?23:30
EriC^^but uefi boots slightly quicker and is more modern etc.23:30
EriC^^Guest97876: yeah23:30
EriC^^Guest97876: hold on23:30
Guest97876i'm so happy, im finally going to have a working computer again23:30
Guest97876oh, ok23:31
Dumle29So. I have two disks in my system. One with windows on it, and one with ubuntu on it. I recently upgraded to windows 8.1 (From 7) by doing a clean install. Now this wiped out grub, and I can't boot ubuntu (Well I could pick the other harddisk from my boot menu. Is there an easy way to get GRUB back from the liveCD (USB stick in my case) ?23:31
LeEarlguys how to view the refresh rate from command line?23:31
EriC^^Guest97876: make a gpt partition, it will work with legacy, and if you ever decide to update the bios you can use uefi, plus gpt supports more partitions and other options23:31
reisioDumle29: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair23:31
EriC^^Guest97876: open a terminal23:32
Dumle29reisio: Thanks :)23:32
reisioDumle29: basically grub-install23:32
Guest97876are you sure? i dont make a habit of fooling around with stuff like this23:32
Guest97876but i'll do what you say, you're the expert23:32
EriC^^Guest97876: yeah, it's no problem23:32
VanDerGrootIs it possible to get ubuntu to scroll while I'm holding down the mousewheel?23:32
reisiosure23:32
Dumle29reisio: Yeah I figured that'd be the way :) Thanks23:33
Guest97876hey, i got an error saying there were 0 bytes of disk space remaining, i went ahead and clicked ignore. anyways im at the terminal now23:33
reisioGuest97876: might want to make some space23:33
EriC^^ok, type sudo apt-get install pastebinit23:33
reisiohttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecoverLostDiskSpace23:33
Guest97876cant, it says theres no space left on the device23:34
Guest97876which is bizarre considering its a 500 gb hard drive23:34
EriC^^Guest97876: that's odd, it's supposed to be a live session23:34
EriC^^try clicking on gparted23:34
Bashing-omVanDerGroot: On my xterm, pressing down the scroll wheel is a "middle nouse button" click ; be involved perhaps to remap that behavior .23:34
Guest97876AHA23:35
Guest97876i have two partitions23:35
Guest97876unallocated, 465.52 GiB23:35
pokeymantrainerHow much RAM do you have? Doesn't stuff get installed into RAM on a live session?23:35
TravistyI should mention that the internet seems to work otherwise - I just have trouble getting apt-get to work properly23:35
daftykinscopied and run, not installed23:35
EriC^^Guest97876: ok, click on create new partition table or so23:35
EriC^^Guest97876: and make a new gpt partition table23:35
VanDerGrootBashing-om: I'm thinking it should either be a setting in Unity or I'll just skip it. ^23:36
VanDerGroot^^23:36
LMNOP_well its not really run in ram23:36
Guest97876ok, its saying itll erase ALL DATA on the entire disk /dev/sda, is that ok?23:36
EriC^^Guest97876: yeah23:36
Guest97876ok23:36
Guest97876ok, so i just have a big ol unallocated space of 465.76 gigs23:37
EriC^^Guest97876: ok, make a 300mb fat32 partition of type efi ( ef00 hex code )23:37
EriC^^Guest97876: i can't walk you through this on gparted, but if you open sudo cgdisk /dev/sda in a terminal i've used it23:38
LMNOP_the tough way but should work23:38
Guest97876ok, ive got that terminal thing up23:39
Bashing-omTravisty: I just joined the channel, But is this a source/list issue or a packge management issue ' sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade ' indicates what ?23:39
EriC^^ok, click on new, when it asks which sector press enter, for size type 300M23:40
EriC^^Guest97876: when it asks for the hexcode type ef0023:40
TravistyBashing-om: I also just joined. So I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 15.04. The first thing I did after getting my wireless set up was to open a terminal and type “sudo apt-get update”. It only printed “0% [Connecting to us.archive.ubuntu.com (2001:67c:1562::16)] …” and never made any progress.23:40
TravistyBashing-om: I just deleted /etc/apt/sources.list and used software-proeprties-gtk to create a new one, but it has the same problem23:41
Guest97876anything specific i should name this partition?23:42
EriC^^Guest97876: EFI partition23:43
Bashing-omTravisty: OK, system problem or a hardware issue ' ping -c3 8.8.8.8 ; ping -c3 ubuntu.com ' let's see where we go from there . Any yeah 15.04 is a new ball game . Be aware .23:43
Guest97876ok thats done, now what23:43
EriC^^Guest97876: make another partition, 2M in size, with the hex code ef02 call it bios-boot partition23:44
TravistyBashing-om: (I actually had the same problem in an older version prior to installing 15.04. I just moved from Canada to the US and this problem started when I moved)23:44
TravistyBashing-om: Both pings have 0 packets lost23:45
Guest97876setting the size in sectors as 2M isnt working for some reason, hitting enter just kinda deletes what i typed23:45
Bashing-omTravisty: K. The ping request still applies for my thought process .23:45
EriC^^Guest97876: are you sure it's the size in sectors or where it starts?23:45
TravistyBashing-om: 0% packet loss for both addresses23:45
Guest97876size in sectors, i just hit enter for first sector23:46
TravistyBashing-om: (Also, thanks for the help!)23:47
luckybunnyMy computer just crapped out on me agan. Not sure what's going on with it, but it's been doing it a lot lately. Basically froze up to the point where I had to do a REISUB23:47
Guest97876ok i ended up just making it anyways, its got a size of 1007.0 KiB, is that ok?23:47
daftykinsluckybunny: memtest time!23:47
luckybunnyexcept I think my keyboard doesn't work for that, because REISUB had no effect23:48
EriC^^Guest97876: yeah, no problem23:48
Guest97876ok, ready for next step23:48
EriC^^Guest97876: press write23:48
luckybunnyeventually it pulled itself out, though, and my /home drectory was read-only23:48
EriC^^Guest97876: ah wait23:48
Bashing-omTravisty: Well, that do seem to point to a system confif issue huh ? show us what the sources.list is ' cat -n /etc/apt/sources.list | pastebinit ' . Let's make sure is it valid.23:48
EriC^^i think you created it before the EFI one, not after it23:48
TravistyI wish I had pastebinit :(23:49
Guest97876can we just make one big partition for my OS to use so i can install Ubuntu already?23:49
daftykinsGuest97876: nope (: that's not how it works23:50
Bashing-omTravisty: Sorry, No pastebin tool installed .. this may get tough to deal with .. lemme ponder a bit .23:50
EriC^^Guest97876: delete the partition, create it after the efi one, press write23:51
TravistyBashing-om: pastebin.com/CF2wnqJW23:51
Guest97876delete the bios boot one i just made?23:51
EriC^^yes23:51
Guest97876ok, so make a new partition?23:51
Funhackergirl: its just I dislike coding so maybe i can do it for fun23:52
Fun:)23:52
Funnot I , my personal reaction23:52
EriC^^Bashing-om: he can use command | nc termbin.com 999923:52
daftykinsFun: chat is over in #ubuntu-offtopic please :)23:52
FunI used C to make cash23:52
Funok ok23:52
LeEarlcash in the stash23:52
TravistyEriC^^: Awesome, thanks23:52
EriC^^no problem23:53
EriC^^Guest97876: yeah23:53
Craigwellmeh23:53
Craigwelli tried windows 7 disc to repair boot,23:53
Craigwellstill no dice.23:53
Craigwellincredible.23:53
daftykinsCraigwell: i think you want ##windows23:54
CraigwellEven after reinstall win 7 to the new partition, windows would not boot. tried their bootrec.exe23:54
FunCraigwell: u can access files with ubuntu live23:54
Craigwellits a lament daftykinds23:54
Funto copy them23:54
Craigwelldaftykins23:54
Craigwelli can mount all of it no problem23:54
granddanHello, everyone! Will Ubuntu run smoothly with 2 GB of Ram?23:54
Guest97876anyways so new partition, what do i name it/hexcode/size?23:54
Funlubuntu is more likely23:54
daftykinsgranddan: xubuntu will23:55
TravistyBashing-om: Alternatively, http://termbin.com/sxs023:55
Craigwelli cannot get gparted, windows 7 install disc, to fix the microsoft crap23:55
daftykinsgranddan: use 32-bit too23:55
EriC^^Guest97876: size is 2M, hexcode is ef02 , name it bios-boot partition23:55
daftykinsCraigwell: sadly no assistance can be provided with Windows here in #ubuntu23:55
granddandaftykins: is 2GB few for Ubuntu?23:55
daftykinsgranddan: in my opinion yes23:56
Bashing-omTravisty: OK. I be look'n at your pastebin.com/CF2wnqJW . Thanks EriC^^ .. I also came up with 2 other solutions.23:56
Guest97876ok don23:56
Guest97876done23:56
azizLIGHThow do i disable the alt menu search when in full screen23:56
granddandaftykins: what's the recommended amount of Ram for Ubuntu?23:56
azizLIGHTim playing a game, and when i press alt, it minimizes the game and opens the dash to search for commands. its really disruptive23:56
Craigwelldaftykins: you see, it's beyond a windows problem. It's a drive cloning issue that I cannot resolve with either OS, thank you.23:56
daftykinsgranddan: it would depend more on other system specs for standard unity based ubuntu, but i'd not try with less than 4GB23:56
Craigwelldaftykins: is there a hardware oriented channel you can suggest?23:57
daftykinsCraigwell: yeah i remember. ##hardware - but i hear they may eat you alive23:57
Craigwelldaftykins: otherwise, this is merely a light hearted lament. It's amusing to me that it's being this tricky.23:57
EriC^^Guest97876: ok, press write23:57
daftykinsCraigwell: well that's nice but this is a support channel not really a chat one :)23:58
CraigwellMy next approach is to just install windows fresh on a new drive, and then try to clone my existing ubuntu over - but even that is a major tradeoff for me23:58
Guest97876write for which one? the efi, bios, or free space?23:58
Craigwelldaftykins: thank you again. I only return with mention of the issue in the thought that perhaps someone else with insight on clonezilla or another method to help me achieve a sucessful clone might be here23:59
daftykinsCraigwell: i've slept since then so forget the details anywho23:59
granddandaftykins: I tried running it with a virtual machine, giving it 1GB of ram. It ran kinda well, I thought 2GB would be nice23:59
daftykinsgranddan: depends on the graphics hardware.23:59
daftykinsgranddan: the website actually has system requirements on it23:59
