nordin_Hello guys, I did an update from terminal with Lubuntu 12.04. After some time updating I ended up with: http://ctrlv.it/id/1118/4038378819  Everything was good before the update. I did move /usr directory to another partition before the update.18:56
nordin_Now it seems my /usr/lib/udef/ directory is empty.18:56
holsteinupdate? or distribution upgrade?18:56
nordin_update18:56
holsteinare you now on 14.04? or just normal 12.04?18:57
nordin_it boots ok, well, it gave me a message I forgot, but I had this since I move /usr to another partition, but the boot process from that is ok. That's why I can chat now with you :)18:58
nordin_12.0418:58
holsteinlubuntu 12.04 is not supported any longer18:58
holsteini konw the 12.04 main repos will be up for a long time, so, you may be able to sort out the issue18:58
holsteinif it "boots ok", then, i would just use it18:58
holsteinany volunteer would be more helpful with *exact* messages, and errors.. but, i suggest upgrading to 14.0418:59
holsteinor, the latest 15.0418:59
nordin_would it run well on eeepc 901?18:59
nordin_it has 1 GB of ram19:00
holsteinit will be supported19:00
nordin_hmm ok19:01
holsteini run 15.04 on similar hardware.. but, 14.04 is LTS19:01
ianorlynyes I am pretty sure it will run on 1 GB of ram I was running on 512 mb about a year ago but then upgraded to a desktop so I could run virtual machines which is somehting that won't be realistic with 1 GB of ram19:01
nordin_ok thnx19:01
holsteini have an eeepc 90019:02
nordin_cool19:02
holstein900mhz celeron, with a gig of ram.. runs most anything i put on it..19:02
nordin_ok guys, thank you all19:05
holsteincheers.. and good luck19:05
devilboyHello21:13
holsteino/21:13
devilboyI'm trying to install Lubuntu in a non-PAE machine with 256mb of ram and 30gb of hard drive, Will the alternate ISO do????21:14
devilboyIm talking about a Dell Inspiron 600m Netbook21:15
devilboypretty slow21:15
holstein!pae21:15
ubottuTo use more than ~3.2GB RAM on a 32bit system you can install the PAE-enabled kernel. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EnablingPAE for more info21:15
holstein!mini21:15
ubottuThe Minimal CD image is very small in size, and it downloads most packages from the Internet during installation, allowing you to select only those you want.  The installer is text based (rather than graphical as used on the Desktop DVD). See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD21:15
holsteini would use the mini iso ^21:15
holsteinstart there, get an install working, and build up as needed21:16
devilboyI was reading i need an Ethernet connection to be able to install the Minimal iso, how does that work? because im connected on a Mobile wifi hotspot, No ethernet available21:17
holsteini just do the install21:17
holsteini dont connect to anything.. i install, *then* i connect the machine wired, and install what i need21:17
holsteinif you cant do that, then, you can look at the minimal21:17
holsteinthe alternate, i mean21:17
devilboyYeah, i don't have ethernet so i will just stick to the Alternate, Thanks a lot.21:19
holsteinregardless, i do the install *then* install updates, and other packages21:22
