yuciyuarthx, Alives22:58
yuciyuaris it bad idea, complete remove an application with synaptic?23:05
Aliveswhich application23:06
yuciyuarcoz, when i did it for virtualbox, my unity, terminal, and dunno maybe some others application removed too.23:06
Alivesyuciyuar: that doesnt make sense23:07
Alivesi install and uninstall using aptitude or apt-get23:07
yuciyuari made a complete remove for virtualbox amd64 and than install i386 version. thats what happens then23:08
Alivesweird23:08
Alivesi would think amd64 would be fine btw23:08
Alivesbut i dont know what your reason is23:08
Alivesi dont think it should have removed the other stuff though23:08
yuciyuari tried amd64 but didnt work proper for laravel homestead23:09
yuciyuarthen i tried i38623:09
Alivesyeah but virtualbox just virtualizes another os for you23:10
Alivesso its really about the os you pick23:10
k1l_yuciyuar: ubuntu is multiarch. you dont need to choose between 64bit and 32bit.23:10
yuciyuaryes, my idea was silly when chosing other than amd64 but i dont get  why some applications, like unity, terminal, and as guake removed23:12
Jordan_UAlives: #systemd would be a good place to ask.23:12
AlivesJordan_U: yeah i asked but its pretty silent there :(23:13
Alivesmust be a friday issue :)23:13

pjanneyAre there any linux distros that are 100% stable with no bugs23:31
pjanneyI have went through at least 10 distros now, currently on Ubuntu Gnome 3 and something is always horribly annoying.  This time its software center.  Install more than 3 programs at once (in queue) and it crashes the program23:32
Bashing-omDeja_Vu_: Was absent from the channel for a while. A bit to set up the driver after 'dd' is complete. See: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingANewHardDrive .23:34

acro458Using xubuntu fresh installation on latest virtualbox. Used Host+D to install virtualbox tools. Resolution was 1440x900, which is what I want.  Ubuntu says it needs to do updates. I update ubuntu. The login screen is 1440x900, but once I log in it goes to  1024x768!!! Wtf!!! I go to Displays and 1440x900 is not listed as a resolution choice. What do I do?23:57
bray90820Am I right that apps shouldn't be started using sudo23:57
multiverseAllow me to be more coherent.  I’m not using NetworkManager, and use /etc/network/interfaces to configure eth0.  “auto eth0” is the first line in the file, but upon reboot eth0 doesn’t start.  Furthermore after logging in, ifup can bring the interface up normally.  What might I be missing?23:58
SchrodingersScatbray90820: depends on what you're running23:58
bray90820SchrodingersScat: teamviewer23:58
