[00:08] !surface [00:09] Does anyone know off hand if Ubuntu touch will run on a Surface? [00:32] eikon81g: Do you know if the Surface run on a x64 or a ARM CPU? [00:34] if x64 you probably can install ubuntu desktop. [00:34] Nah, it's ARM [00:34] this is the first one.. [00:35] The RT build of windows on it is pretty locked down. You literally have to run a jailbreak script each time you boot it to run unsigned code.. [00:35] Dirty little trick.\ [00:38] i guess you will run into an issue sinc ubuntu uses android as the "base" [00:38] since* [00:39] https://developer.ubuntu.com/static/devportal_uploaded/136981fa-6287-49d3-9874-06f40b2e4eb7-cms_page_media/380/ubuntu_touch_architecture.png [00:44] desktop runs on the surface pro [00:44] ty mariogrip [00:46] np [00:49] any input about ubuntu phone? [00:50] there are a few companies that have released handsets with ubuntu touch [00:50] I read something about it.. they said it sold out in like an hour I think.. [00:50] I'd check the forums to run it on a device you have already.. [00:51] check the topic [00:51] i saw on youtube and ubuntu sight and was reading that problems with slow and lag is something up with maybe bottleneck like in von neumann architecture [00:52] It looked promising.. I wanted to run it on a nexus I have laying around.. I haven't gotten around to it.. [00:52] agreed eikon81g: [00:53] i wanted one US don't sell only european union [00:53] yea, porting it onto a device may be the way to go for now [00:54] not to mention if it is buggy then you are stuck with a device that only runs utouch [00:55] not unless you have backup to port original OS [00:55] yea, I'm saying if you have a device that has native ubuntu touch you are stuck with it.. [00:56] oh yeah i see. [00:56] porting to existing devices is strictly unsupported though [00:56] not really, you can flash android on the bq ubuntu phone [00:56] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting [00:56] ah see there ya go, then it begs to question why buy it if you are going to just run android anyway.. [00:58] i don't think ppl will do that, but you said "I'm saying if you have a device that has native ubuntu touch you are stuck with it.." but you're not stuck with it [00:59] right on, it's good to know that you could still flash it to android if you need/wanted to.. I was unaware [00:59] sorry i got to go but i think the phone can be excellent is they get whatever causing the lag or bottleneck just saying [01:00] I'm running ubuntu touch on my oneplus one and it's not laggy at all... [01:00] he left... xP [01:00] lool === JanC_ is now known as JanC [01:00] you tried.. [01:00] yeah :P [01:00] does it have service on it? [01:00] the 4g decent? [01:01] It underdeveopment so cell is still missing [01:01] https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/wip-ubuntu-touch-for-oneplus-one.266170/ [01:01] ahh, just wondering.. I think I'd miss the play store too much to run it [01:01] that's what's holding me back on the nexus [01:02] I use the bq as my primary phone, and I am only missing a google music [01:03] the bq ubuntu phone btw [01:05] also, it's a completely "new" OS so i expect some missing apps. [01:09] right. I have no doubt it will be competitive in the near future.. I will have to run it to get a feel for it.. Do you get a "Ubuntu Software Center" on the touch distribution? [01:13] no, there is an own app store for Touch that uses click packages (not deb as on desktop). but as I understand the desktop version will switch to click in a later release (next year i guess) (and probably run the same store). btw you can run apt-get on it, but it's not recommended since it a read only system. [01:14] try it with multirom then you don't need to replace/remove android :D [01:15] https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tassadar.multirommgr [01:27] cool ty [01:27] np [01:43] * eikon81g is away: I'm busy [03:49] Is there anyway to adjust Ubuntuinstaller.apk to enable Krillin dual boot? I appreciate dr0id is a little taboo, I really need wifi calling in the intereim in one location === IdleOne is now known as Guest65226 [07:06] can someone tell me what 'rmnet_usb0' interface is for? to get it just type sudo ifconfig. === Guest65226 is now known as IdleOne [09:40] Anyone running UT on Nexus 7 '13 / LTE? [10:13] hello everyone [10:13] anyone here [10:15] :/ [10:17] ^^ [10:18] hey tathhu i need some help on porting ubuntu touch to s4 [10:19] I can't help you :( [10:20] Don't know about that stuff [10:22] no idea on how porting ubuntu touch ? [10:23] Nope [10:23] I don't even know if there's something like Jolla has with its Sailfish-porting-things [10:23] Something to get you started [10:26] there was one developer who was building s4 ubuntu touch but he smashed his device and the development stopped [11:33] Hi ! When will be working "docking mode" in Ubuntu Touch? [11:34] and will it work on a Nexus 4? === howefield is now known as howefield_afk [11:42] http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2015/06/first-ubuntu-phone-with-convergence-is-being-made-by-bq [12:06] hi === howefield_afk is now known as howefield [12:47] hi [12:48] did someone here tried the new gpg on facebook? if yes, is there a how to for ubuntu touch? === LjL is now known as LjLism [13:13] is someone here? [13:15] Yes [13:15] And no, I don't know. [13:15] ok [13:19] another question, is this fixed: http://askubuntu.com/questions/341355/why-doesnt-ubuntu-touch-support-multiple-users or still in progress ? [14:20] good day [14:22] is there a way to do a selected printscreen or capture on ubuntu phone? [14:22] i know that with clicking +-volume button you take a printscreen [14:22] but is there a way to select the part you want to take printscreen of? [14:24] can you edit pics in gallery? [14:26] yeah, go to gallery, select pic and then select that icon next to menu [14:30] well that works also :) thanks tathhu === LjLism is now known as LjL [18:08] I need some help. I'm trying to set some rules in my iptables to forward data from 'usb0' to . what interface should I use for cellular data? [18:12] is it p2p0? but it's not active. but I still get internet conn. [18:44] muka: type "ifconfig" to see which interface has ip address [18:53] peat-psuwit, there is only two interfaces, wlan0 and rmnet_usb0, but the only option that I can see would be rmnet_usb0. I already tried that and it's not working. It seems that there must me another option. Must be hidden. [18:54] looks that rmnet_usb0 is not a cellular data interface.
