[11:23] anybody what? [11:24] Hi, i installed 15.04 in my laptop. After suspending to ram and back and finally shutting down, the boot process stops at a point where i see on the lcd "starting version 219" without a cursor blinking on the lcd. It was working fine but after i used the suspend to ram function the boot process stops there. [11:24] I then switched to another virtual terminal, logged in and started an x session by writting "startx" which worked fine. [11:24] My question is why is the normal boot process disrupted while it was working fine [11:24] hateball: Please see my comments above [11:26] naftilos76: Afraid I dont use suspend so I dont know much about. [12:06] okay [12:06] lordievader: how do I know that? [12:08] Err... That is the question ;) Nah, I just though perhaps someone knows. [12:09] oh. I'm running 14.04 now and would consider 15.04 but how stable is it? This is for my production machine. [18:52] I would say stability is less of a concern than regressions (say missing widgets, panel indicators, guest account, regionalization). None are deal-breaker sfor me,but why not try in a VM for a few days first? [18:53] Scunizi: I wouldn't run a non-LTS release on a production machine. [18:53] Wait for 16.04. [18:58] Scunizi: don't do it. honestly don't. 14.10 for me is literally I'd say a hundred x more stable than 15.04. With what I do in 15.04, I've literally seen more crashes in a week than all the crashes I've seen since 14.04. I'm using 15.04 right now and have been the whole week testing it. It's great but definitely far from stable [19:00] Hmm, 15.04 and 15.10 have both been rather stable with me. [19:03] lordievader: vbgunz thanks for the input.. I've got 15.04 running on a spare laptop with no issues so far but hate to risk it with my work machine. Also, 15.04 drops me to an emergency prompt after the wait and if I press Ctrl+D, I then get the password prompt for the disk and I can boot up quick. what's happening in the 90 second delay? === drawkward_away is now known as drawkward [22:58] I'm trying some stuff but every damn boot takes more than 2 minutes if things go normal [23:12] Have you tried systemd-analyze blame [23:23] I think I figured it out. it seems you need "quiet splash" enabled in grub in order to get the prompt immediately.
