xubuntu25wI download some flac files and unzipped them. However, the icons themselves appear to have lock logos on them in my file browser (thunar). How can I remove these locks?00:30
xubuntu25wI can play the files in VLC, so I'm not sure what the restrictions on them are.00:31
xubuntu25wDid I unzip the rar incorrectly?00:33

nomicbynarie  its still an update -- just upate it15:30
nomicsays you hasve 328k of update15:30
cfhowlettnomic, try the terminal: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade15:32
nomicwas referring to question of bynarie15:57
nomicsays gets update notification without message as to what it is for15:57
nomiccarrera  - on laptops you need to change the boot configuration to enable the machine to recognise your machine has control of brightness (keys)15:58
nomichen type sudo nano /etc/default/grub. It will ask for your password. Type it in.15:58
nomicAround the 11th line, there will be something like: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash". Change it to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor"15:58
nomichttp://askubuntu.com/questions/128463/how-to-control-brightness15:58
nomicfor laptops -- because it will not naturally recognise your brightness key15:59
nomicthats what I do, on mine (acer), to get brightness control15:59
