I am a teen and I would like to do some QA test cases, but I don't know if I could... [16:47] Can anyone confirm? [16:48] balloons [16:57] There are no rules on age specific to Ubuntu [17:00] teens these days are impatient… [17:01] * svij feels old now :) [17:19] now? [17:19] I've felt old (physically) for years :) [17:22] I'm actually not that old :D [17:25] neither am I (mentally) ... [18:06] Hello :) [18:07] So i realize now i didn't remind folks about the meeting [18:08] yup [18:12] So today we can basically answer all the questions we had i think. [18:13] Did DanChapman put together the readme i wonder? [18:13] I guess i shouldn't start talking before it's time :) [18:14] balloons: mostly complete now :-) I'll push it to lp this evening [19:02] balloons: now you can talk ;) [19:03] hey there. nearly forgot this [19:07] I think we should wait for balloons ? [19:14] Hey :) [19:14] oh there he is :) [19:14] OK so we just need to go through our actions from last time and see where we are at [19:15] svij care to relay your findings to start? [19:15] sure [19:15] Hey dkessel :) [19:16] so, we can run the iso tests on a ec2 instance, which we could fire up for a new tests, shouldn't be too expensive as I see for now, but the tests doesn't run for todays/yesterdays wily image because of some weird ssl/bzr error [19:17] well - depending on what you tried it with - at least one image didn't build [19:17] and there is a dead server apparently [19:17] dead server? [19:17] hang on - just getting info [19:17] ssh: connect to host goldenapple.canonical.com port 22: Connection timed out [19:17] and [19:18] flocculant: goldenapple appears to be dead so if you get that one it times out IS is informed so hopefully this will go away soonish [19:18] so we can run the tests there? [19:18] s/can/could/ [19:19] that said - what weird ssl/bzr issue are you talking about :) [19:19] huh, I'm confused [19:20] Me too [19:20] Does it have to be ec2. Can it be digital ocean [19:20] didn't check digitalocean yet [19:21] I think flocculant was trying to say the images are bad [19:21] yea [19:21] ah [19:21] yea, the vivid images were better, but they still hang somewhere, I didn't check further details though [19:24] any more questions regarding running the tests in the cloud? [19:24] I thought someone had looked at digitalocean [19:25] If we're confident then we can let everyone know we won't need the hardware [19:25] I could check that quickly if it fails at the beginning… [19:25] oh wait, my digitalocean instance is too small (ram) [19:25] anyway, does it really matter if it's ec2 or digital ocean? [19:25] balloons: yep [19:26] It doesn't matter really. DO is cheaper is all [19:27] hm, not 100% true… do is 40$/mo for a 4GB instance (which we need) amazon is cheaper in this case [19:28] The only other thing we needed to settle was the doc from DanChapman [19:28] For autopilot. And of course to fix the tests [19:28] svij, interesting [19:29] nearly done :-) just finishing it off atm and will get it pushed up to lp this evening. [19:29] aws with 4gb (but paid for a year) is 26$/mo [19:29] So 2 instances on ec2 or just one svij? 1 always running the other on demand to test? [19:30] I think two instances are cheaper… one smaller one for jenkins master and one on demand [19:30] K [19:32] So we should go ahead and setup things on ec2. Probably worth starting off monthly before buying a year at once [19:33] And with the readme complete, we can solicit for help in the tests [19:33] Is there anything else? [19:33] hmmm looking at yesterdays vivid run. irqbalance crashed :-/. Does ec2 use xen? [19:34] My brain is shot atm from planning for travel [19:34] i guess i should un-assign me from the blocking bug. i really don't have time to fix it soon. and time is running.... [19:34] DanChapman: yes [19:34] so we need someone else to have a look [19:35] is xen a problem? [19:38] xen's not a problem, i've just heard about issues with irqbalance in VM's. IIRC fedora vms require it turned off. Let me see if I can find mmore info [19:38] oh [19:40] svij was it a single core instance? [19:40] DanChapman: nope [19:40] dual core [19:44] DanChapman: wait, do you mean my ec2 instance or the vm inside the ec2 instance, which bootet the iso? [19:46] the vm that booted the iso. I can't remember what the runner set's it up with. [19:47] yes, that was dual core [19:49] ok thanks. I'm just concerned as the test didn't actually run according to that log file. It looks like it crashed pretty quickly after ubiquity launched [19:51] that's also what I was seeing (with my less knowledge about autopilot) [19:53] so the "Autopilot GTK interface loaded. Wire protocol version is 1.4" appears when the launcher "run_ubiquity" is triggered, the test will wait for ubiquity to come up before the test starts and you should see "I: Running autopilot run ubiquity_autopilot_*" [19:54] so it's either a problem with the runner/test-environment or an issue with running in the cloud [19:55] hhmm… [19:55] I'll do some more investigations on the weekend about this issue [19:55] someone needs to fix the tests anyway, beside of my problems ;) [19:59] I'll get them running again. Seems a couple of large bugs have been dropped off my backlog for OTA-6 so I will squeeze this in :-) [19:59] Hehe nice [20:00] Brb [20:00] nice! [20:02] done. bug 1479064 is unassigned now. [20:02] bug 1479064 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "Autopilot test "EnglishDefaultInstallTestCase" fails with Xubuntu i386 Wily daily ISO" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1479064 [20:09] ok cool assigned to me. I should have them running again by next meeting. Are we back to friday next week? or you still away then balloons? [20:15] Yes I'm away again [20:16] Um hmm [20:16] Meet without me perhaps? [20:23] Should be fine for me [20:24] I'm going to bed now... Next week Friday sane time is fine for me [20:25] sane times are ok, insane times, nope [20:25] (good evening!) [20:25] K. Sounds good [20:25] Thanks everyone! [20:25] Hey knome [20:25] Work that I'm off as well [20:26] *with [20:26] heh [20:26] have fun
