pikurasaI have a 3200x1200 15FPS clip (from a screenrecord) in OGV that I would like to edit in Kden Live--how does this work? When I bring the clip into KdenLive it doesn't seem to be showing the correct frames for the first half of the clip (in the project monitor and clip monitor). Should I change the file with ffmpg before bringing it in? If so, what would be the best way to do that?15:19
pikurasaOr should I change "clip properties" with Kden?15:19
cfhowlettpikurasa, will your final form also be 3200x1200?15:19
pikurasaThe final form could be anything, really... I just want to get onto the editing process and pull some stuff together. It could be scaled--preferably with a similar ratio.15:21
cfhowlettpikurasa, scale it down with avconv then edits15:21
pikurasaI have never used avconc. Is that command line?15:22
cfhowlettpikurasa, it is.  avconv -i inputfile -s ****x**** outputfile          -s = output size15:23
pikurasa@cfhowlett Thanks. Will try now.15:23
pikurasaWhat output size would you recommend??15:24
cfhowlettpikurasa, you could also try resize with kdenlive15:24
pikurasa[pikurasa is trying things (like avconv), but having troubles...wait, on to something...]15:53
pikurasaLooks like you right click on the clip and then choose transcode in KdenLive.15:54
pikurasaWhat is this option "fix ogg theora"? Quite the provocative title for an operation...15:56
pikurasaFix Ogg Theora gets this error -- Unrecognized option 'sameq'.16:05
pikurasaError splitting the argument list: Option not found. Am I missing something??16:05
holsteinyou are trying to transcode audio? inside kdenlive?16:08
pikurasa@holstein Yes.16:09
holsteinfrom what to what? and whats the goal?16:09
pikurasaI have a 3200x1200 15FPS clip (from a screenrecord) in OGV. Any "normal" format--and preferably in a free format--would be good.16:11
pikurasaI successfully transcoded to .mov16:11
holsteini have only ever exported to different formats.. but, ideally, the "freedom" would be considered *before* creation16:12
holsteinmaybe, at the source.. if you are just doing it for freedom's sake, so to speak..16:12
pikurasathe original is OGV16:12
holsteinotherwise, i would go for what give the "Best" results, based on where its going16:12
pikurasaBasically, I am trying to make demo videos of this project I did with SugarLabs over the summer. It is web based software and I want others to see how it works, so I am making videos. RecordmyDesktop in UbuntuStudio creates files that KDenLive does not import well--the 3200x1200 15FPS OGV output from RecordmyDesktop does not seem to be a clip that KDenLive can use. Therefore, I am trying to change the format.16:17
pikurasaThe "Fix OGV" returned the error I mentioned above.16:17
pikurasaI am trying Matroska, which seems to be working.16:18
pikurasa.mov worked.16:18
pikurasa[I am kind of just "talking out loud" as I work. No need to reply if busy--although, may be entertaining :)  ]16:19
holsteinwell, for me, i just use all of the options, and see what works16:20
holsteinim not a video guy, so, i dont even have really the skills to properly troubleshoot the issues..16:20
holsteini did like kdenlive, though.. and i found it works "best" for what i was doing, at the time16:20
pikurasaI have no doubt that it works great. I just don't know how to use it... :)16:25
pikurasaAlso, I only know two emoticons :)16:25
pikurasaI have another idea to get the result I want, but I need all my CPU power to do it. Thanks and Bye!16:46
holsteinpikurasa: good luck..16:46
