[01:45] Hi all. Is there some kind of sleep or hibernate mode that ubuntu-server will go into that I can disable? For the second time now I was unable to connect to apache 2, ssh, or sftp and could not even ping from the the LAN or router. I have determined for the second time now that so much as hitting a single key (num lock) on a keyboard connected to the server tower is enough to "wake it up" and suddenly ping, apache2, ssh, and s [01:45] (home server on an old machine) [02:08] All of my internet searchs return threads and articles talking about suspending or hibernating ubuntu desktop... [02:19] ubuntu server does not sleep/hibernate by default [02:20] unless you ran a command to do so (like a ups program that detects power failure) [02:29] JaguarDown, understand i'm in no way knowledgeable about such things and this is probably a "mr obvious" question, but does your lan card support "wake-on-lan" and is it set to function? [02:56] any way I can backup to an iso? [02:56] like rsync to an iso file? [03:18] sure, you just *copy* it [03:18] or, you mean, you want to copy normal files, into an iso file? [03:21] yeah, having a single file would be nice [03:21] * copy into an iso file - [03:22] i use carbon copy cloner for mac a lot, and this is an option, which makes organization a little simpler [03:22] open to any advice === markthomas|away is now known as markthomas [06:02] howdy lsmith? [06:03] I was able to move things along by adding some of the packages listed here http://wiki.apache.org/jackrabbit/JackrabbitOnTomcat6 [06:04] but now i am hitting this line https://github.com/jackalope/jackalope-jackrabbit/blob/master/src/Jackalope/Transport/Jackrabbit/Client.php#L386 [06:05] i think it could still be a mysql issue b/c the tables are never created [06:06] on this line https://github.com/jackalope/jackalope-jackrabbit/blob/master/src/Jackalope/Transport/Jackrabbit/Client.php#L385 $set->item(0)->textContent is empty === markthomas is now known as markthomas|away === guampa_ is now known as guampa === Lcawte|Away is now known as Lcawte [07:46] Good morning. [10:12] for SSL to work on sites other than the default, do i need to create certificate for each ? [10:19] Or add it as a san. [10:28] missing the part where i added a 2nd virtual host (other than default) to the ssl [10:29] like do i edit default-ssl.conf or copy it into mysite-ssl.conf === Lcawte is now known as Lcawte|Away [10:56] Norbin: a certificate per domain, usually - better get official certificates rather than using self-signed stuff [10:57] it costs a bit, but it's the only thing accepted many places [10:57] you can get host certificates or domain wildcard certs - the latter more expensive, but then you can create new, official certs for your own hosts [12:21] is anyone familiar with the manual installation of Twonky-Server ? [12:29] if i want to start twonkyserver i am getting an error like this -bash: /home/username/twonky/twonkystarter: No such file or directory [12:37] the readme says i need to install ia32-libs but there is no package with that name in the repos [13:06] Kalimero, that hasn't existed since 12.04 === markthomas|away is now known as markthomas [13:23] patdk-lap: i know but i need it to run my program ( and i got it to run a few weeks agon until now but i dont remember how i did it :( ) === markthomas is now known as markthomas|away [13:29] hi guys, i have set up apache2 server, all is good but one thing - others outside my LAN can not establish connection to the site via my external IP [13:29] i've forwarded port 80 [13:29] been trying to fix this for like 2 hours now, but no go, will be happy to get some assistance === Lcawte|Away is now known as Lcawte [13:31] Norbin: first ascertain whether your server is receiving the requests. my suggestion: use tcpdump [13:39] umm, i am not seeing much signs for failed attempts or anything, captured while a friend tried to access from outside [13:39] an example here pmatulis http://pastebin.com/mFunJNBx [13:49] Norbin: you can try quieting it down with, assuming interface eth0: 'sudo tcpdump -i eth0 -qtn port 80' [13:50] Norbin: and you're sure it's port 80 and not 443 (HTTPS)? [13:53] Norbin: also, provide output to 'sudo lsof -nPi4:80' [14:00] pmatulis thank you for the tips. i am still capturing [14:01] sudo lsof -nPi4:80 outputs nothing [14:01] new empty line [14:13] Norbin: that means your server is not listening on port 80 [14:14] Norbin: i'm using lighttpd as my web server and i get: [14:14] lighttpd 2570 www-data 4u IPv4 22859 0t0 TCP *:80 (LISTEN) === markthomas|away is now known as markthomas [14:15] when u run sudo lsof -nPi4:443 ? [14:15] ops, with 80 [14:15] i tried with 443 just in case [14:15] no results there either [14:16] Norbin: next, what URL are you using when you claim to be connecting from the LAN? [14:17] pmatulis, it works now! [14:17] god damn :P [14:17] In my router [14:17] when i forwarded port 80 [14:17] i had to choose internal IP (which i provided my server ip address) [14:18] and external (i entered my external ip...) [14:18] now i changed the external to 0.0.0.0 [14:18] and it works [14:18] * Norbin is not sure why though [14:20] Norbin: well, not sure how if the server isn't listening, but ok [14:26] pmatulis not sure, but now the tcp dump is actually giving results via port 80 [14:26] i can see the ip addresses of the people entering my apache page [14:27] sudo lsof -nPi4:80 still gives empty result === Lcawte is now known as Lcawte|Away === airjump1 is now known as airjump === ainTcent is now known as samsn === Lcawte|Away is now known as Lcawte [16:46] hi! I'm installing iRedMail. The installation process asks me to enter "first virtual domain name". What is that? [16:49] hello? [16:50] just enter FQDN lightair? [16:51] for the mail server ? [16:51] or follow a guide x: [16:52] what value should be in /etc/hostname: lightair.com or lightair? [18:28] booting Vivid, there is a 15s delay during /scripts/init-bottom [18:29] that directory is empty, so why the delay? [18:32] correction, there is one script: udev [18:34] PryMar56, is the scripts dir in the root of the system? [18:43] Meerkat, root of the initramfs? [18:43] Meerkat, I'm thinking to deactivate LVM in initramfs [18:45] Meerkat, yes the udev script is in root of ramfs: scripts/init-bottom/udev [18:46] Meerkat, I'm thinking to never activate LVM in initramfs [18:46] ^^ what I mean to say [19:06] Meerkat, it worked. Skipped activation in ramfs and script/init-bottom flew by... finally.. couple weeks of pain === markthomas is now known as markthomas|away [20:04] Wily has changes in scripts/init-bottom coming [20:05] I did look at the scripts/init-bottom in Debian8 and they are not the same [22:24] Hi guys! I would really appreciate it, if you could help me! I am working on a project that is similar to Shazam, I have a source code on a linux computer which gets a 10-second wav audio file and outputs the name of the song. So, everything works offline now. I was wondering how I can setup a server using ubuntu in order to support online recognition. [22:32] arsalan_, start your project on launchpad :-) [22:36] Oearheks, Thanks [22:51] Meercat: trick was to remove vgchange in /lib/udev/rules.d/85-lvm2.rules, then rebuild ramfs. No more delay in scripts/init-bottom [22:52] undo the mod after ramfs is built === Lcawte is now known as Lcawte|Away
