[06:40] sakreZZzz: Was actually a pretty simple fix. Usually, when ISOs don't build, it is because of some conflict among packages, and most often it is not related to multimedia, in which case most other distros also have it - at least Xubuntu, and we don't need to sweat too much over it. [06:41] This time, a python library was pretty much only affecting ladi tools, so we were alone in having the problem, and it was up to us to either fix the bug with the library, or remove any dependencies to it. [06:42] I won't have time to try fix the library issues, so I will let that slide. Besides, I don't use ladi myself, and not sure how many do in fact, though it seems to be a great idea. [06:43] So close to release, there's not much I can do aside from drop Gladish. [06:51] i've been meaning to use ladi, but i rarly use the same setup twice, so in my workflow its superfluous [06:51] i realize now, i forgot to mention that i didn't manage to get that scribus fix done [06:51] aka the unknwon i was battling... === sakreZZzz is now known as sakrecoer [06:59] sometimes i wonder how you guys so much done with so little communication. or am i missing a channel? [06:59] *get* so much done.. [06:59] :) [07:00] Just let me know where you were having problems, and I can guide you through it [07:00] The biggest hurdle with getting into development here is just learning all the rules and tools [07:01] There's a lot of systems you have to become familiar with, even just to fix a missing desktop file [07:02] are there any tutorials on the subject? [07:02] We don't actually do that much, I would say. And, all we do is communicated either here or on the mail list [07:02] ok :) [07:03] There are tutorials for all kinds of things, but if your goal is to fix the desktop file, it is easier if I guide you through it. Later, you can investigate any particular tool you were using to get that done. [07:04] i got "fatal error debuild -S -sa" [07:04] i mean on debuild -S -sa [07:05] dpkg-buildpackage: error: dpkg-source -b scribus-ubuntu [07:05] gave error exit status 2 [07:05] debuild: fatal error at line 1374: dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -d -us -uc -S -sa failed [07:05] uploading failed too... but i guess that was good thing [07:06] Since the build failed, there was nothing to upload [07:06] it said Not a .changes file. Please select a .changes file to upload. [07:06] You probably just missed a step somewhere [07:06] You won't have a changes file, unless there was a build [07:06] yeah... i tried 3 times... i must have failed to paste one of the steps you gave me in my textfile [07:07] That's about the way I started learning. Lots of fails [07:07] :) makes me feel better. although i have reasonable expecation about my skillset [07:08] I'm heading to "the office" now. When I'm back (in about 15 min), I'll add a list of commands to a paste link and send it to you [07:08] cheers!! have a great day! [07:08] The important part in the long run is of course to understand what each command does, but it's too much at once [07:17] yes. slowly but surely [10:14] sakrecoer: It seems perhaps edit-patch is not the tool of choice right now [10:15] I'm trying to add the patch myself, but dpkg has made some changes in how patches should be formatted [10:15] I think that was probably the error you had also [10:16] I'll try using quilt and researching more about the problems I'm having [10:17] Started a new part in our wiki https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuStudio/DeveloperTutorials [10:42] oh! that is great zequence :)
