[10:30] Does anybody know if Chromecast are able to directly access dlna servers running on Ubuntu, googling seems to give conflicting reports. Generally not by default, but there are some apps that do allow it, but they may have subsequently broken and not work anymore. [10:36] i use an app called Avia to stream from DLNA to chromecast [10:38] Is that direct without using an android phone? I'll have a look at that, I think it was one of the ones I'd picked up as a possibility [10:44] no, it's using an android phone [10:44] or tablet [10:44] ok, I was looking for one that would do it directly [10:46] how would you tell the chromecast what to play? [10:46] I was looking at localcast https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stefanpledl.localcast&hl=en [10:47] Surely you need an app _somewhere_? [10:47] Just use the android device as a remote with the app installed on the chromecast, rather than the android device accessing the dlna server and then casting to the chromecast [11:24] morning all [11:27] well seems like a do-release-upgrade -d to wily is as painless as ever! [11:41] A::) [12:04] settled down to use amazon prime last night to watch a film. realised i cant send it to chromecast... [12:04] i just assumed it would have worked :( [12:05] had to connect as a 2nd monitor, and pull out the speakers :( [13:56] hey there guys [13:56] upgraded my mac os [13:56] and now having problems with booting ubuntu from partition [13:59] ? [14:05] ? [14:06] yellow [14:14] Well this is a little worrying, I set up my companies website on AWS (Using micro instances and micro RDS) which is supposed to be free for 12 months, they just sent us a $275 bill === DJones is now known as D === D is now known as DJOnes [19:45] evening all [19:47] evenin [19:47] \o [19:48] * penguin42 saw The Martian before - good film [19:48] o/ [19:49] ooh neat [19:49] that's on my to-do list, but i don't really like 3D so i'm not sure i want to see it locally [19:49] one cinema, one viewing type ¬_¬ [19:49] * penguin42 saw it in 2d [19:49] daftykins: One screen in one cinema? [19:49] nah they've got maybe 4-6, i forget [19:49] just no 2D viewings [19:50] * penguin42 was surprised there wasn't an Imax - or perhaps they're planning to release that later and hope people go to that as well [19:51] but since I got 3rd row in a mostly empty cinema it didn't matter [19:52] :) [19:52] that's the other thing, i saw that Jurassic World mid-week and got a screening with maybe 8 people tops [19:52] that was great [19:53] this was this lunchtime, maybe more people are seeing it in the evening, maybe most are doing 3d, maybe the non-geeks aren't attracted as much? anyway there are lots of showings in Manc [19:54] hmm actually as i'm over in England next week i should try for a viewing then
